Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were great.  Sonic Heroes sucked.  Shadow sucked more.  Secret Rings sucked even more than the last two.  Sonic 06 was so bad it's hilarious.  Unleashed is surprising good.

i didn't mind sonic heroes but having to beat it 4 times with each team became really repetitive! i really wish it included something to make your own team or something, like picking a speed type from one team and a fly from another etc

When a Sonic game came out staring a Darker and Edgier Shadow as the protagonist, involved riding vehicles, shooting guns, fighting aliens and crap... seriously who the heck thought that was a good idea? It sounds like some bad fan fiction than an actual Sonic game.

I played some Sonic 4 this weekend.  It's mediocre.  It feels more like a hack than a real new game.  Plus, it throws lives at you left and right.  By the end of the 2nd zone (of 4.  Yeah, it's short) I had 20 lives.  Sonic Colors should be great, it's the best part of Unleashed (the day stages) without the crappy parts (Werehog).

Also, apparently Yellow Devil didn't read the article from Sega saying how all of their Wii and DS Sonic games will be for kids and the rest will be for more serious gamers.

Also, here's a little criticism I wrote a while ago:

The Sonic Series rules.
They have plenty of good games. I mean, the old games were good, Sonic Adventure series was good, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 looks good. I hate it that Sonic fans are so picky, though. Here are some examples:

"Sonic 06 was awful!"
Yeah, it was. The story was okay (sorta anyway). I mean, I was annoyed with the time travel and the human princess and... well, everything but the introduction of Silver. He was cool. But that doesn't mean that the series as a whole has turned bad. I love the amount of Sonic series characters, as well, which brings me here:

"Sonic introduces a new character in every game!"
What game doesn't? The Mario series certainly does, the Zelda series, Metroid, Kirby, all of them! Get used to it. Besides, Sonic has some of the most story-driven characters ever. They are very cool, and there's one character for everyone who plays the series (I love Shadow, my brother loves Metal Sonic, my sister loves Cream)

"What about Big?"
What about Big? Big is fine. We all need some comic relief, and besides, not everyone from Mobius is gonna be super cool or strong or smart or fast. We all have a Big the Cat in us, people.

"The 3D series is awful!"
No, just no. Play the Sonic Adventure games, they're good. I hate how so many fans complain and want the classics back. I'm fine with a few classic style games occasionally, but seriously, why hate 3D? First, the fact that everyone wants nothing but Sonic. Seriously, they're's no variety. Tell me your favorite Sonic character. Is it really Sonic? There are plenty of cool characters. Personally, the only thing I'd like to see is maybe a story of how the Mobians ended up on Earth? The classics were on Mobius, I'm pretty sure. Also, the Chao garden is awesome. The 3D games are fine, so quit whining.

And there's my rant.

EDIT: Star Light also makes a good point. People are ruining the series. And also, even the spin-offs have good new characters. If the Babylon rogues were in a real Sonic game, it would be awesome.

I will admit, I am annoyed with the fact that they got rid of a ton of their old characters. Fang/Nack the Sniper/Weasel anyone?

Still, its a good series. Lets not forget that it rivaled Mario for a while. That takes mad skillz.

Yes, it was.  The story was also awful.  Other than time travel, it had no redeeming qualities.

I agree with you that every game does.  The problem with most of the new Sonic characters is that they're very unoriginal.  Silver and Shadow are the worst offenders here.  At least Shadow had a purpose in Sonic Adventure 2, so it was ok.  He died at the end because his job was done.  However, SEGA didn't have the balls to leave him dead so we have a half-assed return and his character becomes just a pointless recolor of Sonic that's supposed to be cool but isn't.  The only truly good character since Sonic Adventure in my opinion is Blaze.

3)"What about Big?"
I don't hate Big the Cat because he's an annoying fatass.  I mean, lots of series have those kinds of characters.  I hate him because he made part of Sonic Adventure into a fishing game, and a bad one at that.  That's not why I got that game.

4)"The 3D Series is awful"
It is awful.  It wasn't always awful, but it's gotten there.  Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 were great and Sonic Unleashed was pretty good, but the rest were so terrible they gave the whole series an awful funk.  Also, Sonic is my favorite character (it used to be Knuckles but he got less cool in the Adventure games.  He's not bad, just not as cool).  The problem for me isn't that it should be only Sonic, it's that it doesn't focus on Sonic.  Take Sonic Adventure for example.  Sure, there were plenty of other characters, but Sonic had far more levels and gameplay than any other character.  Sonic Adventure 2 started to drop this and it's just gone downhill.  I say just make Sonic, Tails, maybe Knuckles, and maybe the game's new character (provided they are good) playable.  Oh, and the Chao Garden is awesome, so where did it go?

Now, let's get off of the whole Sonic business and get back to the topic at hand which is...um...pizza?
