« on: August 30, 2012, 01:52:12 AM »
oh look i made a poll

I was wondering, what's your favorite Mega Man Series? Classic? X? Zero? whatever?

I've always liked the ZX games, i liked the first one more than Advent however.

use the poll and post saying your favorite!

Battle Network holds a special place in my heart that the rest of the sub series have simply never been able to satisfy as well.

I chose battle network, partially because I like the length of it. The main reasons I like it, however, are because 1.) It can be one hell of a challenge, especially when u get to the storyline after defeating the final boss. I've played MMBN3-MMBN6 and I must say that aside from MMBN6, the final bosses were quite the pain in the ass. Still, I love me a challenge. Also, MMBN3 is the first Megaman (thats right. not BN, but MEGAMAN) game I ever played. I was in 1st grade, so you can imagine MMBN holds a special place in my heart. :mrgreen:

I chose the Zero series. Simply because unlike every other series, it doesn't drag itself on. It's completely solid across 4 games. Plotwise, it's enticing and interesting to go through. Gameplay is extremely solid, way better than the X series. The problem I had with the X series is it felt more like you were classic megaman that could wall jump and dash, but the game itself didn't really take that into consideration. So many bosses can simply be dodged by wall jumping. Zero series on the other hand is as fast paced as Zero moves. Bosses are generally designed to consider wall jumping and it's largely just a more stimulating, fast paced game. Also, Cyber Elves are just adorable.

MMZero holds a special place in my heart.

Megaman 9 has a special place in my heart ^_^

I've picked Classic series because, well, that's the only one where I've played nearly every game available. I only started playing Megaman games a few years back so I haven't had much time to play all the series.

I have played X1-3 though, and I really wish I could play more of it.

My first game was actually Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube. A terrible choice, but I was young and didn't know better. I would always play with the Navi Mode turned off, because more often than not the hints would end up messing me up instead. I remember one area in particular, where in Heat Man's stage in MM2 the helper would say that you needed Item-2 to cross the lava pits, but as a kid playing the game blind I didn't know where to "find" the Item-2 that the game was talking about.

If we're talking about Mega Man in general though, the first time I was exposed to the series was through Mega Man NT Warrior, the anime version of the Battle Network series. For the longest time Glyde was my favorite. He would always try to help out "Miss Yai" and her friends the best he could, even though he didn't have super strength or healing powers or wild transformations like the other Navis did. He seemed like a really nice average guy who was just trying to help, and his voice actor wasn't bollocks like with Mr. Match, so I just sort of struck a chord with his character.

My favorite series used to be Mega Man X simply because of the zoom-slam-bam and it wasn't balls hard like Zero was, and I wasn't as good as games back then so the learning curve of X helped to draw me in as well. As the years went on, I leaned towards Battle Network because of how much deeper the games go. The characters are (usually) diverse and memorable, the Navis all have unique abilities from one another, plot is more of a thing, and the battle chips are always imaginative and just plain wacky sometimes. (I mean really guys... Corn Shooter and Risky Honey?) Mind you, I wasn't good at BN games, and I'm still not good at them! My folders can get slushed up into a horrible alphabet soup most of the time. I just really like the aspects that BN brings to the table that the other series haven't quite done in the same way; X is basically Classic with parkour and more plot, Legends is barely a Mega Man game at all, and Zero is always so pessimistic and brooding in every game... oh, and it's balls hard. Star Force hit the mark in its third installment Black Ace / Red Joker with the deeper characterization and the energetic Arthur C. Eos, but that second game always leaves a little of a sour taste in my mouth (though not nearly as sour as BN4... oh the horror).

Classic, when times were simple and all you needed was a "Man" at the end of your name, not all of this fancy ".exenetnaviZXstarnutt"

It'd have to be classic. It's the one series I've had plenty of exposure to and it's just simple and fun in general. Anniversary Collection is what got me into the series. ;_;

I had never been into a megaman game deeply until I played Starforce.
I love it, and I'm sad not alot people play it.

Classic. Because the original is great, and has my kind of difficultly. X and BN are okay, but got really too gimmicky. Zero and ZX are a little too much for me. Legends, I wish to never care. And I only actually just watched the Starforce anime (Not the english dub, rather the original Japanese version with english subtitles. This applies to the anime of BN too, since there are more episodes in Japan than the US could ever have.).
