Title: Nintendo Wii Hacking/Modding- MEGA MAN DEATHMATCH Support?
Post by: PacDan16 on February 28, 2018, 02:55:39 PM
(I made a post over at "gbatemp.net" too, if anyone is interested: https://gbatemp.net/threads/is-there-a-way-to-play-the-doom-mod-mega-man-deathmatch-on-a-homebrew-enabled-wii.497650/#post-7854446)

Is there anyone who has technical/programming knowledge, interest in the Nintendo Wii Hacking community, or any ideas how to do this?
Thanks.

This would require someone porting Zandronum to the Wii which would be very difficult and time consuming, I don't think this will ever happen.

Oh, what a shame. Thanks for the response. Maybe we'll see it on console mods one day...

Has someone done that on any modded system yet? I'm curious...

Does the software renderer for Zandronum depend on x86 processor assembly language?  If so, then a whole new renderer would have to be written.
OpenGL is out of the question, unless one wants to rewrite it from scratch for the Gamecube/Wii GPU.
Other than that, there is a lot of OS bindings in Zandronum that would have to be rebound to a Gamecube/Wii SDK.

gl2gx is a thing, but it probably isn't up to date enough to be functional. Still, something that can be noted.
