The title says it all. I want to do this so I can get better at mapping and see the tricks that the maps use.
-
1) Open the MM8BDM.pk3 (version whatever you want) in a program known as SLADE.
2) Find the map you want to examine "thoroughly".
3) Right click on it and hit export.
4) Open your new toy in DB2 or GZDB and examine away!

You can find download links for Slade right here. http://slade.mancubus.net/index.php?page=downloads (http://slade.mancubus.net/index.php?page=downloads)

Oh, do you guys use DB2 anymore? I figured it just didn't have the capabilities that GZDB did, but it's been forever and a day since I "mapped", so I wouldn't know.
-
It is still usable yes, GZDB has more stuff going for it, but by no means must you use it.
-
Most of us have moved onto GZDB due to nifty features that make our lives easier.

On the topic, do I still need the v5b-editingpackage? If so, how do I load it?
-
It isn't necessary anymore, no.
