Title: New MM8BDM Mod: Mega Man X Deathmatch
Post by: Dialgaofpower on May 23, 2012, 02:00:33 AM
Hey there, ladies and gents of Cutstuff.net! I'm planning on making a mod of Cutmanmike's Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch! I call it........
MEGA MAN X DEATHMATCH!!!
(click to show/hide)
However, you managed to reactivate yourself somehow, and came back to life.  The gold on you shattered as you came back to life.  I cannot tell you anything more about the story.

Ok, so you want to make a full mode of the game that takes place in the world of MMX, so that means all the skins of mavericks, new weapons, maps, and a crap ton of coding to do for the story line. Just before I can take this seriously (don't mean to be rude) I would like to know if you have any rough drafts of anything that we can see in case others want to help.

Don't mean to be mean, but do you even know how to mod?

Haha, I remember things like this. This has appeared a lot, most people tend to give up when they realize the sheer amount of sprites they will have to make.

Ya crawl before ya walk. Ya walk before ya run. Ya run (a LOT) before ya go get a gold medal. Ya've just started around here, don't try to leap for mankind right away! Not only its foolish, it also doesn't look good on yarself too.

I'm sure the guy with 14 posts is going to revolutionize this game.  ;)

Three SNES games to base on.

24 skins, each with about double the amount of frames compared to 8BDM skins.

27 weapons aprox. (all special weapons from mavericks, plus X buster, Zero buster and Vile/Axl buster), each with its corresponding sound effects, HUD and corresponding projectiles graphics (which are usually more custom than straight rips).

Aprox. more than 30 maps (each maverick stage having a corresponding map, plus 2 maps per each game's final stages).

All of the music from those games (easiest part, just use SPC files, which are compatible with Skulltag).

All menu interface graphics.

And all you have is a story? Get on with the locking, we're done here

I think it could work if it was based on Xtreme!

But the best thing to do is start small. try some easier projects like some standalone maps and skins before taking on something big like this!

I find the story hilarious considering they made a golden statue of the skin you used right after the tournament, not encased you in gold so many years later.

Actually, they just replaced your plating with gold when you were deactivated.

This is beyond hilarious if you're using Wilyskullsuit.

because post count is all that matters (sarcasm)

also, it would be pretty cool if someone did it based on Xtreme

What's even harder will be to recreate the other Mavericks in Xtreme form from X4 thru 8, not to mention special characters like Double and those two hunters in X3. Plus, you'll need textures too, so...

You're going to be one busy dude, dude.

All of the sprites are going to be 16-bit like X series SNES style, all music will be remixed like SNES MMX, no hadouken or shoyruken, at least four sigma stages per chapter, no voices, a boss for every sigma stage.  Plus, I have OTHER things to do besides stand around and let this post be locked.

The development team will consist of members on Cutstuff.net that I choose.

Starting to think whatever or not I should try drawing pics as responses. But hey this isn't really 4chan you know.

Anyho, I really doubt it could get working. This is like the 4th time i think someone attempted making a mod like this. And doing X1-8 kinda crazy. Especially 7, since that's not even using sprites at all, rather just complete 3D and stuff. Good luck converting the mavericks to sprites.

And plus. I really think MMX is too complex to be made with Skulltag as of it is now. True we already got a MMX classes done, but doing all 8 games? Crazy as heck. X1 or up to X3 is fine, but all?  Son you got a heck load to do.

That and I really believe the MMX series is beyond corruption to begin with. Why is this in the wrong sub-forum anyways?

And what if people don't want to join your "project"? Do it yourself, simple as that. We may do requests , but nobody can really do big stuff for people if they hardly know or care about you. As that's a bad idea anyways.

What if they refuse to work with you?

Why would they?

Who are you? What are your previous works on Skulltag? What are your previous works on MM8BDM? What are your previous finished works in general?

EDIT: Please, lock this. This won't go anywhere.

Lol 16 bit, which means even more work cause of details with all the colors, all the angles of said sprites that need detailing, this should die. TOPIC DERAIL CHOOO CHOOOOOOOOO TRAAAAIIIINNNNNNN *derail* *BOOOM*

Long story short, this will not work out and unless you have some proof otherwise (i.e a full map, weapon and skin set) this project is headed for disastrous areas, especially the way your team is being organized.

In unrelated news, welcome to cutstuff, enjoy your stay.

Nah... I think It can be done, but you'd need a good team... Who actually wants to work on this.

Also I suggest making 1-3 first.

Or atleast Bit-Deathmatch standards. Requires heavy modding.

Yeah, maybe it should be a standalone WAD... Or a DooM PWAD. (You'd have to use FreeDooM as IWAD if you want it to be free, BTW)

Glossary:
IWAD: Main WAD
PWAD: Patch WAD

Why don't you just start out small with X1? Seems more legit that way. There's a lot of stuff to figure out, anyways.

EDIT: Plus, this doesn't really need to be done from scratch... why not just on top of MM8BDM as an optional expansion? Hell, it doesn't need to be 16-bit, since there's always the Xtreme games...

I didn't think I needed to spell it out for you, OJ.
But having a very low post count means he's new.

Unless he's the Jesus of Doombuilder, this is just some newbie being very unrealistic.

there's people that joined back in 2010 but they have a post count of 30 or so

the guy could be an expert with a low post count and he would manage to do it

we know that he isn't, but what i'm saying is that post count and join dates don't mean anything.

(for fuck's sake i'm not oj you face)

So, have you made anything yet? Have you made up your team? Or even started downloading the required tools? (i.e. DoomBuilder 2, GIMP, etc.)
If not, this topic needs to be locked. I remember Korby locking a topic like this as soon as it went up just because they didn't have any proof of work being done, so unless this guy pulls some proof out of a hat, it's lockin' time.
