Mega Man Discussion / Mega Man 11
« on: December 04, 2017, 09:16:59 PM »

Guys, it's happening.

Looks neat, I'm quite glad they're going with a 3D artstyle this time, I hope it turns out well. Seems they might have some interesting mechanics.

Anything Goes / Guilty Pleasures
« on: January 02, 2015, 12:52:46 AM »
So, we all have those things we enjoy even though we probably shouldn't. Those things that are bad, that we know are bad, but we like them anyway, or sometimes because of it.

But hey, I figure that enjoyment is enjoyment, so let's embrace it!

My (incomplete) list of guilty pleasures:

-Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
-Sonic '06
-The Batman Forever games (I have one for SNES, one for Genesis, and one for Gameboy. Why...?)

There's probably more, but I don't remember them off the top of my head.

Help & Editing / Question about HUDs
« on: September 03, 2014, 12:08:10 AM »
I'm working on a custom HUD thing. It's based off of the Doom HUD bar, and is going to be set on the setting where the health and ammo bars are horizontal. So, how would I go about doing this?

General Gaming Discussion / Classic FPS Topic
« on: September 02, 2014, 09:41:30 PM »
Well, I've been gushing about Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D long enough. And by long enough, I mean not nearly enough.

So, here's another topic to talk about how awesome they are! Let's talk about classic first person shooters, back when it was all about the keys/keycards/skulls/macguffins, holding a ton of weapons at once, and health that didn't regenerate. This was before everything was corridors.

One FPS game I'm quite fond of is Outlaws, a western-themed one made by Lucas Arts. It has AMAZING music and a neat art style, and good gameplay as well. Quite the fun ride.

W.I.P Forum / MM8BDM Doom-Style HUD (revamp V0.5 release)

So I decided to give this one more revamp, as I had some ideas to make this look a lot better. Basically, I decided redesign it to make it more Doom-like, what with the numbers instead of bars. Though, I added tiny health and ammo meters in the center as to give a quick frame-of-reference of how much of either you have at a glance. I still need to add in something to dictate teams for teamgames, most likely a swappable icon of some sort next to the frag counter. There are a few more minor things I want to fix up, but I just wanted to get this out there and get feedback.

General Gaming Discussion / Duke Nukem discussion thread
« on: August 01, 2014, 12:50:20 AM »
So, let's talk about The Duke. I've been getting into the series recently, and I've played Duke Nukem 1, Duke Nukem 3D, Duke Nukem 64 (through a mod of 3D), Duke Nukem Time To Kill, Duke Nukem Advance, and Duke Nukem Forever.

The guy's been in his fair share of games, so let's talk about them!

General Gaming Discussion / Favorite Gaming Console? (Revival)
« on: July 05, 2014, 02:22:13 PM »
Yeah, there was another thread like this one, but it died waaaaay back in 2011. Now it's 2014, with new consoles and new members. So, let's vote!

As for me, my favorite console is the Xbox Classic. While I technically grew up playing my brother's SNES and my own N64 for several years, it's the Xbox I got the most games for and had for the longest time. Unfortunately, my current Xbox is dead.   :(

Hopefully, someday I'll be able to get a replacement.

What's YOUR favorite console, and why?

Mega Man Discussion / I need help with soundtracks.
« on: June 25, 2014, 02:22:02 AM »
This is Mega Man related, as the two soundtracks I need help with are Mega Man X7 and X8. There are two main problems:

1) They are a bit out of order. I generally like having the music be in the order you'd hear it when playing the game. X8 has the problem worse than X7.
2) Some of the stage music has names that doesn't tell me which stages they belong to (they might say what the stage type is, but without telling me which maverick the music belongs to).

So, I'll list the two in spoilers. Hopefully, one very familiar with those two games can help me make heads and tails out of the two soundtracks.

Mega Man Discussion / Your thoughts on the Mega Man X series?
« on: June 10, 2014, 12:37:12 AM »
So, I'm trying out the Mega Man X series. I'll start with just X1-3 at the moment, as those I can emulate no problem.

I might try the Playstation ones if I can find a emulator that runs smoothly with my crap computer. There IS the X collection, but that's expensive. I don't have money. :

Forum Games Archive / If you met the above avatar in a dark alley

It's like the "if the above avatar tried to kill you" game, but instead you meet the above avatar in a dark alley. They aren't necessarily trying to kill you in this one.

...So, go.

Yes.

General Gaming Discussion / License Games That Are Good!
« on: January 11, 2014, 12:54:35 AM »
Movie (or TV or Comic) based games have a reputation that is less than desirable. But, once in a blue moon, you'll get a game that not only replicates the feel of the movie, but is actually quite fun! This thread is dedicated to those games. Just list the title, the platform of the game, and a description of why the game is fun.

Game: Batman Begins
Platform: Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation 2
Why it's fun: This game is pretty much a precursor to the excellent Arkham series. While it does not have the Detective mode or an open world, it does do the thing a great Batman game does: Makes you feel like you are Batman. Specifically in this case, the Batman from the Dark Knight trilogy, who is more of a badass ninja than a badass detective (which I have no problem with, myself). You must utilize the element of fear in order to help take out foes and gain a reputation. It's a very fun game that feels similar to the Arkham games, but still has its own identity. I wish there were console games based on the two other games of the trilogy.

Mega Man Discussion / The Night That Changed Everything (RP)
« on: August 13, 2013, 09:35:28 PM »
(So, be careful to make sure everyone has a chance to post.
Also, if you aren't on the list and still wish to join the RP, feel free to post in the discussion thread.)

New years eve, 20XX. In the New City Square, Plant Man was setting up for a party. He had invited many of his fellow Robot Masters, though he knew not all could make it; for instance, Honey Woman was busy tending to their garden.

He had set up a dancefloor with music and a small bar. Plant Man looked up at the stars, smiling. He felt that this would be a good night.

He was unbelievably wrong.

14
Story: It started off like a fun night. A group of Robot Masters got together to celebrate the New Years by hanging out, dancing, and watching fireworks. However, an event happened that none of them will ever forget...

Characters:
-Plant Man and Honey Woman(-FiniteZero-)
-Terra (ThePlayer)
-Tengu Man (Azure Sky)
-Flame Man (LlamaHombre)
-Napalm Man (TheDoc)
-Magnet Man (Tfp BreakDown)
-Star Man and Strike Man Beta(Magnet Dood)
-Enker (Gumballtoid)
-Snake Man and Heat Man (SmashBroPlusB)
-Galaxy Man (Rozark)
-Ballade (Hilman170499)
-Mercury (DarkAura)
-Fake Man (CHAOS_FANTAZY)
-Grenade Man (varogon)

So, it is probably best to stick to official Robot Masters for this. However, if you want to use a Robot Master from the PC games or a concept-designed one (like Honey Woman), that's cool too.

EDIT: We'll have the RP on this forum, yes.

Resources / Mega Man Hacks (resources from those)
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:19:43 PM »
Exactly what it sounds like, yes. I'll be dumping here various things from the Mega Man hacks I've played. Note, this isn't absolutely perfect, as I need to reassemble each sprite piece-by-piece, which is tricky. I also add a few details here and there.

Rockman Peercast: (Note: I have to admit... The spritework isn't so great on this one. If you're going to make skins of these guys, I recommend cleaning up the sprites first.)
