Mega Man 11 and the future of 8BDM
« on: December 04, 2017, 07:43:07 PM »
Okay, so this has finally been announced:

So, will Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch still have MMV for V7, or will it have to wait until V8?

Just have to put this here

(click to show/hide)

Anyway yeah, that sounds about right. Although I don't expect v8 to come out in the next 4 years so we'll have to wait on that.

IMO, it would likely be v8, but we're going to do 10 first and figure it out from there. Game's not even out yet, after all.
Super excited for it though. Finally, a non 8-bit sequel!

I'm glad they ditched the 8 bit style and made a full 3D Megaman for a change.

I'm... mixed on the style, he looks a bit weird to me. Probably because it's not Smash 4 quality Megaman... still, happy to know he hasn't been completely forgotten, though I'm also wondering why it took so long for this to become a thing.

I am fully agree with it being good that Mega Man isn't going to be 8-bit again, it would have actually killed the franchise (yes folks it would have). The retro look would not be bringing in any NEW fans with it's 30 year old graphic style, Mega Man needs to look like a modern game while still feeling like Mega Man to keep up in this day and age.

I now have a much better understanding as to why it took so long for this game to be made and I'm probably more hyped for this than I need to be now. PLEASE LET THIS GAME BE GOOD... I feel like just saying please ain't enough, so I'm gonna go give the gods an offering, and probably sacrifice something to the demon overlord as well, just to make sure both sides would be okay with this.

Personally I don't really care if we get something 8-bit or 128-bit, though if I do had to make a point I think it's time to move on from the 8-bit style for the main series especially after the overabundance of 8-bit fan games. (No offense intended to anyone that makes those games or enjoys playing them)

If MM11 content were to be integrated into MM8BDM, I think the plot should still end after MMV, with whatever story MM11 adds being a simple "afterstory" plot that doesn't connect to the main plot of 8BDM's singleplayer.
