MM8BDM Legacy Pack (V3A belatedly released!)
« on: November 07, 2013, 06:08:45 AM »
I realized one wasn't made, so I spent a couple hours making one. It's a compilation of all the old maps from previous versions of MM8BDM (to my knowledge; if there are others, please let me know and I'll add it).

http://static.best-ever.org/wads/mm8bdm-legacy-v3a.pk3

The current version of the pack contains 52 classic maps:

Obviously none of the maps are made by me. If anyone has map credits for each of these versions of the maps, I'll gladly credit them.

Oh.

So there is.

I didn't see that at all. I mean, I knew they were planning on making one but it fell through and I figured they had stopped, but I didn't realize they made a thread about it.

Well, it doesn't hurt, right? It only took me a couple hours to convert all the maps so I figured they just lost interest. Looking at that thread, though, I do see I missed MM7DW4. I also see they thought of the exact same naming scheme as I did (I swear it was coincidence). I'll add MM7DW4L in the morning.

Could you add the SGC-demo metalman, please?
Here's the demo if you don't have it.

EDIT: Oh, BTW, Darkman's castle was a bit smaller prior to V3A.

Added MM7DW4L (Skull Fortress 4 V2C), MM5DARL (Darkman V2C), AND MM2METL (Metalman SGC). The link to the updated .pk3 is in the OP.

You'll want the ORIGINAL original SpringMan stage with the hole in the middle from v2a.
If only someone still had Cutman Alpha and Gutsman Alpha from the alpha stages of the game.

This pack has reminded me just how similar the new Magnetman and Geminiman maps are to the older ones.

And it'd be neat if the pre v3a Waveman was included. You know, the giant one?

If you're gong to include old waveman, you might as well bring back the WAYPASTCOOL Sanic wavebikes, as opposed to the slow ones we have now.

^

The old wavebikes were what made MM5WAV cool, and I was very disappointed to see them go.

Are you going to add Heat Man's and Wind Man's legacy maps eventually? Or will that come after v4a's release?

Alright, I have Alpha Cutman and Alpha Gutsman, I have V2C Waveman but I'm still trying to get the old wavebikes to work (I have no idea what the problem is, I made new actors using the V2C code and updated the ACS for Waveman to use those new actors but it has all the properties of the V3B actors), and I've yet to grab a copy of V2A so I don't have that version of Springman. If anyone knows of a link to it, please send it my way.

Of course, after V4A I'll add all the maps that changed between V3B and V4A.

EDIT: Actually, can someone maybe look through this code to see if you can find what's wrong with it?

I'll also post it in the Help thread in case I'll get help quicker there.

Hurrah, V1C is finished and released.

Added maps:

MM1CUTL -- Cutman (ALPHA)
MM1GUTL -- Gutsman (ALPHA)
MM5WAVL1 -- Waveman (V2C)
MM7SPRL1 -- Springman (V2A)

Map changes:

Edited a typo in MM5GYRL's name (it was mistakenly labeled as V3C instead of V2C).
The V3A versions of Waveman and Springman have been renamed MM5WAVL2 and MM7SPRL2, respectively.

Updated links are in the OP.

Special thanks to Yellow Devil for figuring out what my problem with the old wavebikes was (I had forgotten to compile the edited map ACS). MM5WAVL1 (V2C) has the classic WAYPASTCOOL wave bikes, while MM5WAVL2 (V3A) has the newer, slower wavebikes.

I believe you are missing the pre v3 sparkman map from v1 to v2 linnie.
