That element specialist guy (The class that takes the sprite of Darkman) is REALLY awkward to use.
The detonation has been sped up in v1f, which is what he was referring to.
Alright, I finally decided to take a look at this. Let me give my take on this little mod.Spoilered for size. (click to show/hide)First ImpressionA classes mod that doesn't revolve around Robot Master canon or other series to derive its abilities? This seems interesting. People have been saying bad things about it, but I should at least give it a shot. Thanks for the shot! :PMegamanIt wouldn't be MM8BDM without Ye Olde Megaman, now would it? Most classes mods let him and his weapons stay, balancing against him because, let's face it, he's a staple of the game. This mod lets him step through the door, but not before planting mines on the welcome mat. And everywhere else in the room. You get vanilla Megaman, and he plays exactly like he should. "So what's the problem?" The power equilibrium has been set much, MUCH higher. His pitifully low damage output and disgustingly low 100 health (compared to the 1000/1100 that seems to be the average for this mod) make him the laughing stock of the entire server. He isn't even worth leaving in the mod, much less playing. Adding "clearplayerclasses" to the first line of the mod's KEYCONF file would improve the entire experience dramatically. An extra note: Every class is a CopyWep class, but the weapons deal such sickeningly low damage that it's not even worth it. Not only this, but every class can also pick up Health and Ammo, which is also completely pointless thanks to the previously-mentioned obnoxiously high health. They aren't supposed to be able to pick up weapons. I have no idea why that isn't fixed yet. As for Mega Man, we have been looking for a way to get rid of him, so thanks for that. Close Combat ExpertObligatory Melee-Only Class go! His mainfire is the Slash Claw, slightly modified to fit the mod's grossly bloated power standards. His altfire... makes him pick up speed and locks his mainfire for a few seconds. It wasn't until I summoned some bots and accidentally ran straight into one that I realized it was a charging tackle. Weapons need to visibly do something when they, y'know, do stuff. A sound effect, a HUD animation, or anything else to signify "hey, you can hit people now!" would help. He's really good if you can get up close and circle your opponents to keep you from making you explode.Animation request, noted.Element SpecialistAnother short-ranged class. His mainfire is a spread-shot of what might as well be Ice's Ice Ball. His altfire is a ring of Flame Blasts. His range is absolute junk on both moves, Both have fairly lackluster damage, and he only has 825 HP. Not really worth playing unless you're up for a serious challenge. Darkman is most likely hanging his head in shame. He is a VERY tricky class to use, but once you get the hang of him, you'll be getting frags like no tomorrow. That circle of Flame Blasts used to just be a cluster of forward thrown ones, which was WAY too OP even for this mod.Frostbite...The ghoul's better aesthetically, but this guy would definitely win in a fight. His mainfire shoots a single buster shot that explodes into ice shards. His altfire causes him to jump backwards and unleash an entire salvo of the darn things. One on its own deals 120 damage and spreads 8 ice bits with 20 damage each; that's 280 damage if you manage to hit with everything, even more than a direct melee. This is most likely to be ~180-220 damage as 3-5 of the shards hit. And the altfire completely and totally demolishes everything in its vision cone. The sheer damage this thing can do is absurd. The somewhat slow reload makes up for it a little, but it's still obnoxiously powerful.I find this quite hard to aim if you don't know the secret to it. Also, using it near an edge means you'll most likely fall off because of that jump. Personally, he's my favorite class .Quickster..No. There is no excuse for this thing existing. All it does is move fast and fire what might as well be the Cyborg's GvH weapon. No altfire, no interesting gimmick, nothing. It isn't fun and it isn't effective. It just shouldn't exist. At all.I'll admit this is a pointless "filler" class at best. If someone has an idea for a gimmick, let me or Pik know please!Tactical BomberTactical? No. Bomber? YES. Beefed-up Ballade Cracker that's even stronger than the Melee Claw? Time bomb that absolutely destroys anything in range? Say good-night to your everything. There won't be enough scrap metal to be recycled into a paper clip.Actually, the Deadly Explosive is a nerfed Hyper Bomb; less range and deals damage to the user. It used to have a longer rate of detonation, but it was only useful for bots and llamas.IgniterThis is what happens when you take an already obnoxiously powerful class and make it even more powerful. His only difference is the altfire; while the Frostbite hops around and makes it hail with a flurry of bullets, the Igniter stands still uses a close-ranged flamethrower that fires a stream of its souped-up "bits." The flames themselves are rather ugly, though, and should probably be animated anyway. These sprites aren't permanent, just to let you know. We are working on some custom sprites for this. I think there's less fire fragments than ice, but not sure.Homing SeekerTaking the already obnoxious Magnet Missile to its logical extreme, it's the Homing Seeker! The mainfire does 128 damage on a direct hit with some VERY light blast, which isn't bad for a homing weapon. Altfire shoots 100-damage Dive Missiles that don't home in. (Could have picked a better graphic; I almost gave a rant about how infinite homing shots that have this mod's equivalent of Buster damage would be OP as hell, but then I double-checked the code.)Heh, I thought they homed in when I first saw them too. Personally, I'd prefer a needle graphic, but again, these sprites are temporary.TricksterFor a Trickster, he isn't very tricky. Altfire shoots a fake Ballade Cracker, presumably to screw with your opponents and make them think you can actually do something. Mainfire shoots an actual Ballade Cracker... that explodes into more Ballade Crackers, all of which have absolutely absurd direct-hit damage. A direct hit from this thing could seriously wreck your day. And they recharge fast enough that you could just forget all about the fake Cracker that stalls your recharge and just spam the clusterfubombs. Those fake ones, not sure if you know because you didn't mention it, deal 1 (read: 1) damage each and stun. Originally, they time froze, but due to a glitch where a person could be stuck infinitely, it was scrapped. Those bombs are actually much easier to use on someone that isn't moving, hence the alt.Buster ExpertThe Buster Expert is boring, but somewhat practical. His shots do 250 on a direct hit and have a bit of splash. The fact that he has an altfire that fires a burst of them doesn't hurt either. Sweet cricket bats, though, this class is boring. Point-and-click classes are not all that much fun. This is my least favorite class. I found him annoying, outclassed by Frostbite, Igniter, and Tactical Bomber, and yeah, he's boring. He'd be the equivalent of Mega Man in this game.Rage UnitMainfire shoots a buster that apparently gets stonger the lower your health gets. Altfire performs a radius push like Classic Gravity Hold or Tornado Blow. Neither is strong enough to really Erm, what? This one got eaten.Heavy GunnerAnother boring-but-practical class. Might as well be the Heavy without the slowdown. That in and of itself is obnoxiously powerful. Altfire is... a long jump. That's it. For a class like this, you'd expect something a bit more... useful, I suppose?Well, it doesn't need an offensive alt if it's that powerful. THe long jump is the only way for it to get around.RaiderMainfire is a seriously-buffed Shadow Blade. Altfire is... the Injector, a Muramasa-turned-hypodermic needle that "poisons" the target. With AIDS. ...No. Just no. I could see poison, but this? No.Huh? AIDS? What?Flight UnitMainfire is a modified Crystal Eye that bounces, stops in the air, then explodes into a ton of bouncing, gravity-abiding bits. Altfire is flight, but there is yet again no signal that it's active. You couldn't afford to port over Gyroman's propeller sounds from Classes? For shame, Pikmin.Again, flying animation and sound, noted.General CriticismMy only major complaint in general is the recolored Gravity Buster HUDS, but that's not too much of a concern considering what was there to work with.Like I said, custom sprites, although you don't seem too worried about this anyway.Final ThoughtsTo use the fighting game analogy someone threw out a while ago...YD's Classes is Street Fighter.KY's Classes is Tekken.CSCC is Super Smash Bros.Unepic Classes is, for lack of a better comparison, a pack of MUGEN original characters. Some are overpowered, some are underpowered, and none of them quite fit the level of professional work expected from a fighting game.tl;dr: This mod needs some serious work and some even more serious re-working.
