Update to v1b!
Changelog:
• Removed cages
• Moved previously caged weapons to an inaccessible location
• Fixed texture quirk in Flashman's room
• Made Reggae's juice bar fully impassible
• Added 3 more beds to Darkman's room

Not much has changed, but I badly had to fix the Time Stopper exploit.

I've never been to an RP server, but I checked this out anyway and found out a texture error. Enter QuickMan's room, then look at the entrance. It seems like the sector height in those textures is negative, which is wrong. Make sure the sector height is 0 for walls.

The rooms... why are there RM rooms? Crash bombs don't disappear when hitting the outside... weapons like the rolling cutter bounces off, instead of going outside... Not sure why you made the rivers and ponds impassible. Why is that screen and teleporter there? I would rather you make it so that you just need to bump into the door for it to open instead of having to press the "use" key. I don't think I missed anything else... so yeah...

Duly noted. Yeah, as for the RM rooms, I've been meaning to make a map for that effect, so I used it as filler. As for the screen and teleporter, I assumed it would be conventional for a RP server, so... yeah. Also, a RP server could veer off into any number of directions, so maybe the rooms could be used. I'll work a bit on the river and whatnot. As for bouncing weapons, it's simply due to a lack of room that I couldn't make an outside area. But, hey, I'll take into consideration a few of these things. I'll make Wood Man's river passable, but Ice Man's pond needs to stay impassible, simply due to the fact that it would make more sense that, if you hit freezing water, you died, a la Blizzard Man. But the main purpose of impassible sectors is not to die.

It's just I would suggest making more maps for each individual RM room. I think the major problem is the bouncing off the outside. Yes, I understand what impassable sectors are for. I'm not sure if you played the NES MM, but Ice Man's water doesn't freeze you to death.

Oh, I've played it. I just still need to decipher the UWATA map from Messatsu beforehand. The water in Bubble Man's room was created using Centaur Man's map as a reference.

Not all about RP, though! I'm looking to release Enker's map here, soon. Just... tweaking it a bit. (Map as in based off of Flash, Gemini, and Crystal maps)

As for the RP01, expect the Quick Man texture error fixed, and having added Hard Man, Needle Man, Top Man, and Magnet Man to the basement! Also, making some impassible areas passable, such as Wood Man's river. Once I figure it out, I'll add Quick Beams and Electricity traps to Quick Man and Elec Man's rooms. Possibly removing the door to the basement, as using Use/Open is getting to be a pain for some.

(Edited because I spelled Mess' name wrong :geek:)

Okay, I'm about to release Enker's Flash Map, but 'tis not the reason for this post...

Just to let you know, once I get more than one map of one type, such as RP02, I'll cram 'em into a map pack... Y'know, downloading a map over and over is quite monotonous, and incredibly annoying.

So, there'll be DM type and RP type. Yah.

Hurr. I tested it yesterday with Lobsters, who said it did that with OpenGL. On the other hand, it looks like a regular mirror in Software.

I'll try to fix it, but I don't quite know how to remedy it. I've never played Mega Man Legends.

He used swimmable water...Mess came up with that solution, but it causes the problem of being able to walk on it.

-Floors. 1st floor being MM1 and MM2, and so on until MM7-soontobeMM8 floor.

-Pool area being connected to the parking lot area so travelling doesn't take so damn long. Another alternative is A TELEPORTER IN THE LOBBY.

-A different-colored carpet for the main building's floor. Preferably one that doesn't even try to clash with the other colors.

-Functional TVs. Take a look at CSCM's King's Dimension, and how those TVs work.

-Life/weapon recharge stations, if possible.

-A diving board. If the hotel becomes taller, maybe some of the rooms having balconies that face the pool?

The only way to get this working properly would be to add teleporters, which would be a terrible idea.

Pool alt-path, probably. Teleporter, less likely, but possible.

The beds are supposed to heal if you stand on them, but something seems to have gone awry. I'll look into it.

Jack is working on a diving board, as well as fixing the water. Balconies that face the pool would be unlikely, though.

How about adding in a hidden Yashichi somewhere? Anyway, the diving board needs to be somewhat bouncy, especially at the end. Mirrors are still broken.

It's come to my attention that there's quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the pool. Some want Doom water, some don't. Naturally, I'd opt for regular water, but I'm just gonna put it to a vote.

Technically, you only can walk (maybe sink if you know some special mapping techniques) on doom water, as it was a regular floor.
That would be ZDoom/Boom water [/doomgeek]
EDIT: Or maybe GZDoom water because it's translucent.

Doom water is the only way to go. Also, the rooms are very bland as of now. Spice them up a little, make them interesting.
The cockroach in Junkman's room was the single most exciting thing you added to ANY of the rooms.

Gimmicks in the room is yes. Even normal decorations like the cockroach is fine, but give them something unique. For instance, a penguin bomber in Geminiman's closet (you could make one) would be great. I do like the different door textures for each RM. One thing that would be SUPER cool is have a screw currency sysgem (kinda like screw scramble) except u go to reggae on the pool deck to buy stuff of your liking. Lastly, if u could put each RM weapon in each room, thatd be great. Unless you play classes, u've got your megabuster and thats it. I'd wanted this in the othr hotels, too, so hopefully this is the one (preferably on the bed or pillow.

I'm not gonna go that far since that would take more time than it's worth and I want to get this next release out soon, but I will add a few things to certain rooms such as icy terrain or water.

Hrm. Probably not gonna add weapons to this map since it's usually hosted with Classes (or CSCC that one time).

I can't get the healing sectors to cooperate so I'm just gonna put a large health and weapon capsule in each room.

Working on that. As things are, Bubble Man, Dive Man, Gravity Man, and Star Man will have high gravity (considered water for Bubble and Dive), and Freeze Man will have an icy floor. Most rooms are getting a slight change, such as a pillar and such. I'm also adding actors in certain rooms (like the Gockroach Jack added to Junk Man's room), so you'll have a roommate, as Jack called it.

As things are, it's blatantly obvious; Doom water will be returning, hopefully with the diving board and a color tinge and such. I'll try to add Copywep, Roll, and Mega Man Killer rooms as well, but no guarantee until I can get the right textures for them.

Well I was just quelling Lifeup since that all he seemed interested in, but I'm not gonna add weapons for two reasons:

1) Frequently hosted/only hosted with classes

2) Weapons like Flame Blast promote filling the pool

It would be interesting if a class that could absorb every type of projectile was made for this map. Not in the Classes mod, but included with this map. Just a thought.

Oh, hey, I forgot about this. Thanks a lot, fella. I enjoyed makin' it.

Anyways, now that I've remembered this out of the blue, I'll just put forth my thoughts on the next version and see what comes of it.

In the end, I'm probably not going to make the layout for each room different. That would take a lot of time for something hardly worth the effort. I will, however, add certain things to many rooms to differentiate them somewhat (i.e. ice in Freeze Man's room, water physics in Bubble and Dive's rooms, more "roommates" akin to Jack's Gockroach, ect). Rooms like Gyro Man and Crash Man will hopefully be easier on the eyes. I've gotten permission from those working on the Gameboy map pack to use their textures, and permission to use Zexion's Mega Man Killer icons. I've also scared up some icons for Mega, Proto, Bass, and Roll, so expect to see those rooms in the next release. I've changed the carpet color from pink to a light blue (looks real good). As requested, the pool will return to Doom water, and hopefully I can figure out how to add the color tinge (or get help from someone). I'm gonna move the spawns away from just the parking lot to prevent mass murder of anyone trying to enter. I'll also try to add a shortcut to the pool from the parking lot, but don't count on it. The mirror issue is also fixed so no need to worry about that.

Concerns? Suggestions? Feel free to suggest. Now that I've got school, though, this may take longer than I'd hope, but I'll try to crank it out soon.

Adding weapons is very simple and easy, adds more uniqueness to each room, and for god sake, IT ADDS WEAPONS! The BestMapsEver Pack was a joke pack and it still had weapons. Why not?

That map had a lot of doom water and weapons like flame blast. What did people do? Fill all the doom water areas with flame blasts and tear the server apart. It got very annoying, very fast.

If they did it there, they'll probably do it in GBT's pool.

Maybe you could make a script that kills the flame blast when it touches the water? Because, honestly, I'd love to see weapons in this map. Another thing you could do (like CSCM 04 Wily's cottage) is replace some things you see with weapons? (i.e sink=Water Wave) not alot of variety though just throwing out suggestions.

However, if someone is able to create a viable solution to the pool-filling problem, I'll add weapons.

Host with classes at your own risk: the pool is once again fill-able.

EDIT: It occurred to me that in order to make classes playable, the pool needed a way to clean out the projectiles getting stuck. OrangeMario suggested that the water lowers itself to let the projectiles fall out, and then raise again, similar to IDM16 (?). This would occur every three or five minutes regularly.

v3 fixes the pool.

It now has an automatic flush system. Every few minutes (I think between 5 and 9), the pool will drain itself. Anything caught in the water will hit the ground normally and disappear. The pool will then refill itself.

Aside from that, I've made a few texture changes, and the pool now carries a blue hue.

For those of you who enjoy filling the pool, I'll upload a pool-specific map later on which includes a manual flush function.

I have it on a switch in the next version. It will still flush automatically, but the switch is there in case it's needed sooner.

In other news, I'm implementing a day/night feature. The skybox changes from day to dusk to night to dawn and back to day. Each day lasts about 24,000 tics. The pool flushes every 6000 tics, to give you an idea.

The water gets "cut" into three blocks: shallow, slope, deep. And the "transitions" doesn't become smooth when flushed.

Doom water was requested by popular demand over MM8BDM water. I implemented the flush to keep cocky Woodmen and Chargemen from crashing the server. There is no problem with the pool, as far as I'm aware.

Putting up a poll to decide whether or not to include Balrog's puke script and how to go about doing so.

On another note, I'm taking my time with this next release. I'm re-doing most of the hotel, including adding a few new rooms, re-doing the tiny, cramped rooms we have now, changing the layout, moving the pool so it can be reached from the parking lot, ect. More floors will soon exist.

Balrog's puke script will be going in, and the regular flushes will be kept intact as well. That is decided-upon. However, the script decided to blow up on me when I tried to implement it. Any assistance is appreciated.

Hotel GBT needs a new name. It's too much of a self-plugin as is. I've been told the map is more reminiscent of a resort than a hotel, to give you an idea of what the name should be. I'm open to suggestions.

I'm implementing a TV function as well. Every two hours (2000 tics) the TV will change its channel. During the night, the TV is off. What I need are suggestions for any channels that could be on the TV. Weather is one. I just need five more.

I had been mulling this idea over for some time. I would love that more than I can say but coding that would be beyond me. If anyone wants to try it I'm all for it. Every hour players would gain a screw or a few. Being killed would not force the player to drop them.

My intent is to have two or three frames for each channel animation. If you can do the ass frame, it's in for sure. Mega Man's Soccer is a yes. News can be the newscaster from Mega Man 9 with some mystified story, and that'll be sufficient. Can't do a channel for each room because it would eat too many tags.

I'd prefer SmashBro's rendition because I don't like the pixel sizes being different but that image is too fuzzy when it's sized down. If it's fixed, I'll use it. Until then, DarkAura's will go in.

I still think that there should be some kind of weapon placement on this map (and some people I've talked to online agree). Even though it's usually played with classes, copywep classes have to go around scavenging weapons from dead RMs, which varies depending on the number of players. And that also depends on the number of people PLAYING RMs. Copywep classes are very popular even in hotel.

Actually you reminded me to post here after not having made mention of it in months.

I've been working on the map within the past month. Here are the changes thus far:

• The entire layout has been revised. There are less hallways but they are also longer. There are also two floors (three, when MM8BDM v4 is complete).
• Three floors. 1F has rooms for MM1-4, BF1 has rooms for MM5-8, and 2F will have rooms for MM9, MM10, MM&B, and MMV. No other games will be present, so don't ask.
• The rooms are bigger. Each room has a second room dedicated to the bed, a clock, and a weapon.
Note: Certain weapons, including Time Stopper, have been fenced off and are inaccessible, but present.
• Clocks are now present. They change every few thousand tics to match the day and night phases.
• The map now uses two different tracks. During the day, the Powered Up intro stage plays. During the night, Gencoil's MM&B intro plays.
• The TV system works. During the day, the channels shift between weather, GUTSMAN!!, racing, opera, soccer, and news. During the night, the TVs power off.
• The parking lot and pool have been joined via a small garden path.
• The pool now has two diving boards of different heights. They also extend over the water this time around.
• Reggae's juice bar has been revised.
• Club Auto, ported from a terrible RP map I had about a year and a half ago, has been cleaned up and added.
• Unless I can find suitable places for the bathrooms, they will be removed entirely.
• The new name has been implemented.

I'm hoping to release this sometime after v3b hits, as then I will be able to add Auto's truck, among other things. The last thing I need to do is the rooms and they're tedious beyond belief so don't expect it anytime soon unless v3b hits sooner than expected.

As a matter of fact, yes. Using the beds, showers, or lounge chairs by the pool (and anything else I deem suitable) will slowly regenerate your health, but not fast enough to prevent yourself from being killed while healing.

Played the map recently, and I'm liking the new version of the hotel quite much. With features in mind, what ever happened to the restrooms?

You could also take out the rooms that can be seen through the windows in the parking lot, there's not really any point to having those since none of the actual hotel rooms have windows, and by removing them you could have some room to put in restrooms.

I'd also say perhaps to add some interior decoration like signs and celling lights to make the hotel hallways a bit less bland.

The area beyond the hotel's pool (where the garden used to be) feels very empty in this new version, I have to add.
I also don't see how Sakugarne is overpowered and Time Slow (A weapon that affects everything in a set radius) isn't.

Downloaded and playing the new build right now. Loving how the OP weapons are now out of the way. With that said...

Could you complete the structure for 2f but just not fill the rooms with the necessary robot master themes/weapons until they come out in v4a and beyond? You'd just need to do four sections with eight rooms in three of them and six in one, then rooms for Fakeman, King, Terra, and the Genesis Unit. Concerning the hotel rooms themselves, perhaps using the "Use" key on a TV to change the channel displayed (and with that they wouldn't change automatically).

More decoration surrounding the building's pool could work, like a new garden in the same place as the garden from the old hotel, and more room by the diving boards where the tables and Reggie took up shop.

Not saying these all have to be done by the next update; just take your time and do them when you're comfortable.

As for the 2f, I don't even see why that needs to be there until the update.

Updated mugs look nice, but they look 16-bit, and I would personally prefer the original 8-bit mugs because it feels classic and this IS MM8BDM. Plus, it's alot of work for something that ultimately doesn't need to be updated, but it's up to GBT.

I can kinda see where you're getting this; I suppose you could just reduce the colors used for the &Bass and V guys. The only one that's even remotely viable is Wily, and I'm not keen on adding him for two reasons.
1) I don't have much room for any rooms I hadn't planned on.
2) He's not a Robot Master. Even though Doc, Quint and Mega? aren't serialized, they're Robot Masters enough to add.



I'll be doing something about the hallways to make them more interesting and give some indication as to what hallway you're in.

Perhaps somewhere in the hotel there could be a master switch somewhere in the hotel that causes all the TV's in the hotel to turn on/go to the next channel/turn off?

 *Added a sort of courtyard similar to the original hotel's garden
 *Altered the size of the changing rooms slightly

That's pretty much it, though the issue with the bathrooms is the mirror would, as Lego put it, fuck itself if there weren't enough empty space behind it. I could turn the mirrors into non-reflective linedefs and add the bathrooms, though. Not a huge sacrifice.

With MM&B, I'll probably shove King against the wall and add second rooms for Tenguman and Astroman, though nothing is set in stone.

I'm a little skeptical about adding the Genesis Unit, but who knows? I may or may not. One thing is for sure: there will be no MMDOS or RM&F2 rooms.

The backway entrance is doable, and I could put something there I've been trying to work in somehow.

I also might make a staircase directly from B1 to 2F in the space between Wave/Centaur and Tornado/Pump

As for the purple hallways, the red hallways used to be yellow until I realized what eye-rape they were, so it's a possibility!

I'm glad someone noticed I organized the rooms by serial.

My opinions, but since I'm very against giving a single Robot Master two rooms you could always just shove King into the back without adding the additional Tengu/Astro rooms, but center the &Bass master's rooms so the centers of Dynamo and Cold's are positioned between Blade and Commando's, and then repeat for the other two sets, putting Ground and Pirate between Commando and Sheep, then Burner and Magic between Sheep and Nitro.

I'll see about getting updated mockup maps tomorrow.

Why don't you just put their MM&B weps in their MM8 Rooms, similar to Mega Man and Roll's Rooms. You could also add MM&B textures to the MM8 rooms since they are very similar. (Though you'll have to wait for said expansion to release)
My logic, Tengu & Astro should get two stages each in the core, but one room each in the hotel.

I expect, if it isn't completed separately prior to v5 (that being MM10), that it will be completed as an expansion for v6. I could be wrong, but hey. Maybe Korby's been doing it the whole time and nobody knooooows.

The same logic applies to Mega Man V, whose expansion has been dead for a good while. Someone should breathe new life into it.

All the weapons need to be reworked, almost every map needs to be made, and a lot of the skins need work.

While I would personally make everything myself, I'm now notorious for being a lazy mapper so that would probably take me longer than it took Mike to make the core maps.

There's no need for concept art RM rooms, fangame rooms, DOS rooms, etc. DOS robot masters are ugly and I don't see why they're still hailed.

Infact, I see too many skins of robot masters that are only edits of others, even though there aren't alot, still.

I've never seen any "hailing" of the PC Robot Masters being done, the closest thing to that I've ever seen, is when people treat them like they do the normal Robot Masters.

And they're not THAT ugly, sure, the ones from PC3 are edits of MM2 and MM3 ones, and the PC1 ones won't win any "best design" contests, but they really don't deserve half the hate they get.

This right here pretty much. There is a big difference between these guys and say, the MMU RMs, and that is these guys, though not included in canon, ARE actual Robot Masters from official released games.  And seeing as the first one was made by 1 guy, and the second was made in roughly a week, can you truly blame the robot masters themselves for what they turned out to be?

Now I'm not gonna press the matter of including them in this, as any time I would wouldn't even have been serious.  And hell, I'm actually heavily contemplating going around and requesting at least new walking frames for the DOS3 bosses (minus Bit cause he is unique enough), to help them be a bit better edits (and not simply walking like their bases). But alas, this has no relevance to the topic, moving on.

Honestly, this is the best thing to do.
Non-Cannons, and Concept robot masters should not be in the same map as all the official cannon ones. UNLESS the map is oriented for it. If your goal is to have them in it with the others then ok.

Hey.  Sorry to bump this, but I have something important to say.

Your current music loops suck.  They're not efficiently compressed and they don't loop correctly.
But it's okay.  Because I fixed them (http://www.mediafire.com/?wm416umzuzu6zhg) for you. (I also made them the usual -6 dB volume while I was at it.)

The map itself is pretty great, though.  Much better than the old "Hotel Megaman" map from a while back.  Keep up the good work!

PLEASE, HOST IT WITHOUT JUSTIFIED. If a guy spam the weapons in the water of the pool, the weapons are not deleted (same with others modes), when the pool goes down, it makes the CRASH of BE.

It's the reason why justified was banned for a moment and i explainded how the problem was from the pool of Hotel.

So ok, stop at hosting Hotel + justified or i will ask personally to some guys to tell to the BE guys to ban your map.

Ok, for one, there's no "should probably" about it. If you plan on making edits and bringing them to the forum, then you MUST have permission - elsewise, it's about as good as theft.

Two, how do you think having to deal with a fork of his own map affects the creator of said map? It certainly doesn't "take a load off [their] back", if anything it causes constant stress trying to keep it in check and keep it from growing out of control like Stonefunk had accused him of doing recently (which was misplaced blame if you ask me - maps and mods can't expect to be universally compatible with one another). Gumballtoid himself has gone on record stating that he'd make official edits to hotel for v4 at his own pacing and timing. You continuing to want to add to his map pales his own work as a result, and easily creates miscommunication among new members of the community for not knowing the origins of the mod (something that the current "official" build of GvH NES had been going through).

My point is, you have no real reason to feel like you've done anyone a favor, especially when the owner of the map has asked you to stop multiple times. Continuing what you're doing at this point will be considered active attempts of map theft and will be a punishable action.

Umm first of all, I wouldn't really mind if that happened with the Cutman code... if you want to edit it, go ahead, it still can't be as popular as the original :p
Second of all, yes, I know I borrowed the map, and I know it's wrong. I just don't really care because it's just a game. What happens in this game isn't going to affect your REAL life. Nobody's gonna refuse to hire you if you did some stupid stuff in a silly little game long ago. With that said, I have established my point. You may choose to accept it or you may not. You refuse to acknowledge that stealing a map, is not okay in the slightest.  I can steal a map and add all I want, but it's steal a stolen map. And the fact that you're saying Gumball SHOULDN'T EVEN MIND AT ALL is outrageous.

I have no interest in working on the map at this time and I insist everyone refrain from creating and distributing a hotfix themselves. It may sound preemptive, but if you look back at the last few pages of this topic, you'll understand why I'm saying this now rather than later. However, this doesn't necessarily mean I won't get back to it at some point.

Yes. Unless I specifically request, I would like nobody to have a hand in my work but myself. In this way I have total control over what is to be modified and I may put out the wad as I see fit. Fr3akGamer tried to justify his actions by claiming to have "made it better," but in reality his additions were extremely lazy and of poor quality, which largely comprised my reasoning behind putting a stop to it. It's similar to the circumstance in which Jdude attempted to update GvH8BDM without Lego's consent and he was chastised as a result (though in that case he politely backed down after the fact, unlike Fr3akGamer).

After invading an impromptu Hotel server (that wasn't supposed to be public in the first place), I've come to realize that no matter what I do, it's just not going to vanish. A lot of folks like it, and, permission or not, folks are still going to make changes to it and share it with their pals. Rather than just let that go on, I figure the healthiest thing to do would be to pick the map back up. Rather than use this version, however, I would most likely remake the map entirely from scratch, using knowledge I have since picked up.

So the question I now pose is this: What about BBB&B do you enjoy? What could be improved? What could I include? Specifically, I want to know what folks think of the Robot Master-themed rooms, so I can decide whether or not to keep them. I want you to put your honest thoughts, grievances withstanding, out on the table, so that I might make the map better than ever.


Just bear in mind this isn't a guarantee. I'm juggling work, preparations for college, and DOS Reborn development among other things. If it were to happen, it would be in any free time I might have, and even then, I could very well burn myself out on it as I have done in the past.

What I like about the map is that its essentially the one and only 8BDM equivalent of TF2 idle/achievement maps but without the reasons to idle and no achievements: it looks fun to explore, it has things to do, it's not about just killing players and winning the game but about trying out stuff and hanging out. It's very much not a serious map for serious competition, and that is fine. It feels like a leisure map.

It should feel like a relaxing, entertaining resort, with multiple things to look for and enjoy. I'd say it historically introduced players to a concept previously not dwelled by custom maps (I think), and whatever next form should stick to that.

Robot Master rooms are really nice and I love the ones that's in now

Should have more hotel stuff. Iunno, make it fun to explore or whatever. Cut the parking lot because it's flat and open and dumb and no one really likes going there and put the spawns in rooms or even in hallways.

Hotel's a fun time for change of pace stuff when you just want to dick around with friends and of course for roleplaying which certainly has its niche in MM8BDM servers. I think you'd be well served to update it so bootleg copies don't flood Wadseeker, but also keep in mind that you'll never be able to please everyone with it, especially with how many people use it.

I've mentioned them as recreational maps a few months ago.

I'd suggest that, instead of ridding off the parking lot, you turn the parking lot itself into a sort of serious layout (a map within a map), with cars and trucks as cover, and catwalks for people to fight in. THEN turn the hotel lobby or the bathrooms into the spawn rooms (after expanding it to fit enough people, of course)

EDIT: I'd also suggest taking a different approach on how the hotel itself is structured: instead of a flat, gigantic square filled with enough rooms to fit all robot masters and characters, please consider something along the lines of what the new Light Labs map is going to be in v5: each set of robot masters is a floor, and you can take elevators or the stairs to reach them.

About the pool, for a while now I've been thinking of a small idea.

See the height where Dusty's feet touch? Across that entire height, you could put a transparent floor (or maybe a hair higher) so while the pool no longer has Doom water, it gives off the illusion/feel of the characters swimming while still showing it's deep end. Therefore it still looks and fells like a pool.
It would also be non-solid to projectiles.

Here's a mockup of a proposed hotel expansion I came up with long, long ago:

You could also do the following:
*Decorate the exterior of the building a bit more, especially the entrance.
*Add scenery into the halls like lamps ceiling, lights, couches, greenery, and small tables. As for the entrance where Dr. Light works, it could possibly also be decorated with the aforementioned lights/lamps/greenery and maybe a vending machine or two (you can also stick some vending machines outside).
*Color the edges of the walls in the hallways with a different color (more aesthetic and thus not exactly necessary)
*Add my hallway signs (that I also posted in Wily Inc) to mark the hallways of the different games (also aesthetic).

*The rooms of as-of-yet unreleased characters would use custom tilesets and be as professionally made as other hotel rooms.
*Work in more opportunities for health pickups aside from the very slow process of healing yourself on beds, the seats outside, and the showers. Additionally, being in the hot tub could also restore health.
*Use the space north of the pool shown above to implement in something extra, it could be outdoors or indoors (Personally I would suggest converting it into a gym of sorts).
*Add in additional rooms scattered through the hotel, such as a library, a casino, a theater (What's there near the MM4 halls is more of a bar), and a medical center (that's stocked with recovery items). You could also remove the "NOPE" sign and the arrow next to it to conserve a bit of file space.
*The garage that normally could not be reached before if official versions should stock teleporters that lead to different parts of the map.
*I also approve of decorating the parking lot into some sort of actual battleground through the usage of vehicles.

That's what I could come up with mostly for now, even if you scrap this map entirely and remake the map from scratch. (In that case, you could incorporate maybe a secondary entrance or two that players can leave the hotel through (which I added in through the areas by the bathrooms in the old map)

I can help with any spriting/texturing if you like, most of the stuff I posted would be easy enough of rme to sprite assets of.

I'd say the map should focus less on the rooms that provide nothing but weapons, and more on what else it can provide outside of said rooms. While the rooms are an integral part of the identity of the map itself, the focus should go on what other things can be done in the map besides this: a casino filled with minigames that earn you health/ammo/whatever, a hidden security room with a bunch of TVs displaying different parts of the hotel, a water slide on the pool and free tanks/items, a pretty garden to relax and explore, and so on. Otherwise, the map is just a bunch of square hallways and rooms.

EDIT: I'd also add into the feedback that there's way too much walking: the hotel should grow "vertically", not horizontally, and thus it should be split into floors that you can reach with teleporters/elevators instead of one single gigantic map full of really long hallways that you have to traverse for 88 days.

I would suggest using 3D floors of some sort to do a second floor (and have each hotel room be on alternating spaces on the floors so the 3D Floors don't blow up more space) And maybe for the hotel rooms on the second floor aligned across the ouster edge of the hotel by the gardens/pool, you could make the bedrooms have large windows that look into the outside.

Instead of one big building, you could structure it as more of a complex with multiple buildings designed for multiple purposes (Like the rooms, Musashi's casino/security room idea, etc etc).  It'd make the map a bit more interesting to explore and maybe increase clarity since most landmarks of the maps are visible from more parts of the map.  Teleporters could also be made available for fast travel between certain areas of the map.  A vertical approach would be very difficult to pull off, as it would require either tremendous amounts of 3D floors (always a bad idea), portal shenanigans (not exactly the most stable method) or teleporters taking you between the different floors (which could work but might feel clunky in execution).  Having it be a complex would also be a breath of fresh air to the map's aesthetic, since the current version only uses the great outdoors for the parking lot, the pool, and the connections between.  A larger outdoor section would mean better designs on pathways and more interesting landmarks than the current version of the map, which makes use of a labyrinth with various things sprinkled throughout.

I like SJB's pool idea, but you could probably also make the 3D floor bob up and down ever so slightly to make it seem more natural than just standing on air.  I also agree that recovery should be confined to a single area, since the current script is fairly buggy.

That actually doesn't sound half-bad, Thunder. Having more buildings would certainly help.

Also yeah if we did go with my idea for the pool, it should bob up and down a bit.

The complex idea sounds like a good idea, actually. Each complex's outside look is full of textures and decorations featured in said RM set's game.

I honestly was thinking of a huge vertical building with just the lobby and a large set of elevators that take you to the "floors", which are just separate rooms that aren't actually part of the building itself, and each with a set of stairs that make use of portals. If that method is not a good idea, then I guess the complex idea is better.

Here's the latest version -- a hotfix of the last official version, simply removing Doom water and adding more diverse spawns. BE and TSPG will now allow it on their wad lists.

This is likely one of the last iterations of this layout before I start from scratch yet again. I'm aware of texture errors, but I don't particularly care.

If it's not available here, it's an unofficial version that I had no hand in. You'll have to look elsewhere. The latest official (or legitimate) version is v1b.

That said, I'd really like folks to stop putting those out since there's like 50 of those out there and I already said I'd resume work on this thing.

I wanted to play this map but every time I tried to download it I got a error. So sadly I cant play this map. And just to prove it I always get a white link with a simple text saying "404" when i try to download it.
