Title: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: CHAOS_FANTAZY on April 01, 2011, 12:49:06 AM
This isn't about who was your favorite, this isn't about which one had your favorite theme, this isn't even about which one's art you like the best.
No, this topic is for which one of the sons-of-bitches was the hardest to kill for you.

Couple Ground Rules:  If you're going to list more than one, please don't take more than one from each game.
PLEASE don't take from a game in which you haven't fought every Robot Master.
I WILL allow Fortress Bosses to be mentioned, as long as A; you still post your most-struggled-with Master, and B; you've fought every Fortress Boss in that game.

With those rules--which I find reasonable--I'll begin my own post.

Winner for Mega Man 1 is...
ICE-MAN! (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p60/JJAPrice15/megaman/Iceman.png)

The only thing keeping Elec-Man or Fire-Man from winning is the fact he's an evil cross between the two:  very powerful, yet a good number of projectiles.  While he's relatively easy to dodge, it's typical that you're low on lives when you actually reach him instead of falling off the Propeller Platforms for the umpteenth time (Heat-Man's tiles ain't got shit on those) , and--as we've all learned from Big Eyes--one hit's enough to royally screw you over.

Also, his weakness isn't Fire-Man.  Let me repeat that:  ICE-MAN, THE PARKA-CLAD ESKIMO THAT SHOOTS ICICLES FROM HIS MOUTH, DOES NOT HAVE A FIRE BALL AS HIS WEAKNESS.
The fuck?

Winner for Mega Man 2 is...
CRASH-MAN! (http://lparchive.org/Mega-Man-2/Images/18-Mm2crashman.jpg)  ((INB4EVERYONELAUGHSATMEFORHAVINGTROUBLEWITHCRASHMAN))

YARANAIKA?!  This guy seems easy now, but he certainly was a pain the first time around.  Ironically, he kills you in seven hits--which is the amount of ammo Crash Bomb has.  Because he jumps every time you fire, he jumps, it is annoying to hit him with his weakness of Air Shooter unless you're right beside him--which is risky in Difficult, because sometimes he jumps up and shoots by himself.  Honestly, I find him a breeze now, but I didn't know the Golden Rule for MM2 Bosses at the time:  NEVER STOP MOVING.

Also, I find Hyadain's depiction of him hilarious.  Now every time I fight him, I picture him trying to rape Mega Man using Crash Bombs.

Winner for Mega Man 3 is...
SHADOW-MAN! (http://images.wikia.com/megaman/images/c/c1/Shadowman.png)

Ah, Shadow-Man...the dodgy guy that wouldn't hold still for FIVE SECONDS.  He's mainly annoying because his weakness is Top Spin--A melee weapon--but he's also annoying for his speed.  Like a lot of MM4 Masters, this guy primarily hurt you by running into you--via his half-map-crossing slide o' doom.  His shurikens aren't that annoying--rather easy to jump one and have the other pass your head--but that's not what makes him annoying.

Killing Shadow-Man was hit-for-hit, for me, anyways.  If Top Spin didn't lose so much ammo so quickly, he might be easier, but as for now, I might as well go cry in a shadowy corner.

Winner for Mega Man 4 is...
DIVE-MAN! (http://pressthebuttons.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/24/diveman.png)

I hate Dive-Man for a lot of the same reasons I hate Shadow-Man:  fast, dodgy sonofabitch, melee weapon for weakness (Skull Barrier, if ya don't know) ...come to think of it, Dive-Man was Shadow-Man 2.0.  Instead of sliding randomly, he'd turbo-charge to RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE, his missiles can eat through your Skull Barrier ammo as you use it to block, and running into him kills you in about three hits.

A personal joke for me is "Fuck you, Dive-Man."  That pretty much sums up how I feel about him.

Winner for Mega Man 9 is...
CONCRETE-MAN! (http://images.wikia.com/megaman/images/c/cf/Mm9concreteman.jpg)

Despite being the biggest RM in the game, Concrete-Man moves SO DARN FAST.  Not only that, his Concrete Shots--lobbed three at a time--almost always hit, giving him the chance he needs to shoulder-slam or ground-pound you, munching your health like potato chips.  His weakness is fast-moving, but one of his attacks is a ground-pound (luckily not a quake like Guts-Man) , so he can dodge it.

Overall, with the ability to kill in six hits (only three for Proto Man) , Concrete-Man is one you'll need an E-Tank or five for, weakness or not.  Shame--his weapon is really useful, too.

Winner for Mega Man 10 is...
CHILL-MAN! (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100724045422/megaman/images/c/c0/ChillMan.jpg)

Chill-Man isn't as fast as Concrete-Man, making him not-as-bad, but he's still annoying.  In Hard Mode, he jumps and shoots five Chill Spikes at once--while this is rare, if you're not fast enough, it can munch your health via the familiar freeze-run into combo.  His weakness--Solar Blaze--can be easy to hit him with, but only if you shoot it at one of his ground-stuck Chill Spikes.

His weakness is applicable to many situations, so he's kind of easy, but let's just say he's the only RM who killed me in the rematches.  All the MM10 RM's are relatively easy, but Chill-Man is still the hardest.

Ice Man dies from 3 hits with the Thunder Beam. Sure, he's harder without his weakness, but his pattern is so easy its not much to worry about.

Elec Man also dies from 3 hits with his weakness, but he's much more violent. I'd say he is overall harder than Ice Man.

For this reason, I am going to name the robot masters I think that are hard disregarding their weaknesses.

MM1: Elec Man
MM2: Air Man. I'm not saying this for the meme; he is really annoying without Leaf Shield. Heck, he's annoying even if you do have leaf shield.
MM3: Needle Man or Shadow Man. Can't decide.
MM4: Drill Man.
MM5: Charge Man
MM6: Can't remember. Tomahawk Man, I think.
MM7: Slash Man
MM9: Plug Man. Augh.
MM10: Solar Man

Possibly the hardest robot master I've ever faced would be:
MM&B: Dynamo Man

His attacks are difficult to dodge (expecially when he surrounds you with orbs), and in the middle of the fight, he tries to recharge his own health!

Keep in mind I am absolutely terrible at Mega Man games.

Mega Man 1:
Elec Man

SCREW YOU, ELEC MAN.
Three hit kill on a stage in which I get hurt a lot? Scissors are the only thing that can even slightly guarantee me a slight win on this slightly slight slightle slightness!

Mega Man 2:
inb4buebeam
Quick Man

I can never seem to kill this guy on my first life, E-Tanks or otherwise. Plus, HE NEVER STOPS MOVING AAAHHH.

Mega Man 3:
Hard Man

I'MMA GET YOU.
Ow my face!
I'MMA GET YOU!
Why you stomp me?!
I'MMA GET YOU
bew bew bew

Mega Man 5:
Most of these were simple, but the one I had most trouble with..
Stone Man

See Hard Man.

Mega Man 7(FC):
Turbo Man/Spring Man

I don't care if it's against the rules, I can never kill either of these guys on my first go on the stage, even with their weaknesses.

In terms of actual Mega Man 7:
No one! They're all incredibly easy because of reactions.

Mega Man 9:
Magma Man

First go around, he murdered me so many times. Obviously he's really easy now, but yeah.

Mega Man & Bass:
Magic Man

Probably the only boss I can't perfect run, because his weakness is a melee weapon!
Even staying away, dodging the bouncing balls, flying birds, and deadly cards is rather insane.

Mega Man Soccer:
Fire Man

That is SUCH a cheap special shot.

Also, FiniteZero, to defeat Dynamo as Bass: Equip Super Buster(The one that increases strength) aim up and fire away.
As Megaman, use Wave Burner/Ice Wall on the little prongs. Using Copy Vision will usually block all of his attacks, so it's good to have one out often.

I've beat him before, he's just annoying.

Also, question:
Would including bosses from Mega Man hacks be alright?

Well it says in each game, not each mainstream game.

Hence why I posted Soccer  :p

MM1: Gutsman: Don't get me wrong, Gutsman is easy. It's just the 2nd time fighting him is absolutely horrible because A) Even ground B) You have to fight him after fighting 5 robot masters in a row with no energy refills and C) His weakness is impossible to do anything with

MM2: Quickman: Not really hard here either but I'm usually near death when finishing him off, probably because I don't try to dodge him but instead try to get him to run into the first crashbomb I fire.

MM3: Gemini Man: I never did enjoy the first phase of fighting Gemini when he has a dopple with him, I think part of my problem with him is that I fire and forget using Shadow Blades(seeing as Snakeman is the 3rd to last Robot Master I take on) while forgetting that I still have a health meter that needs to be satisfied.

MM4: Ringman: Everything that Ringman does hits like a truck and it probably doesn't help I can't dodge anything he does barely at all. To be honest Ringman is probably one of the most challenging robot masters in any of the games for me.

MM5: Chargeman: For some reason when I last played MM5 I did the entire boss pattern wrong and thought I could beat him with Star Crash but instead had to settle for Megabuster only, which isn't to terrible but I'm not one to enjoy unpredictability(I'm talking about those random rage charges he pulls on you when he's chasing you).

MM9: Tornadoman: Once again I'm pretty terrible at dodging attacks here, luckly I usually have atleast one E-tank at this point so I don't have to worry about it to much

MM10: Enker: I really suck at dodging the mirror reflect beams for some reason, it wasn't so bad with the Ballade Cracker but Megabuster was just a no for me.

I'm only going to do a few of these.

MM9 - Concrete Man.  It would be Plug Man but using his weakness on him makes him fairly easy.  Concrete Man every once in a while just goes nuts and will not let you move.  Plus, yeah, he's so dang fast for a big guy.

MM10 - Nitro Man.  It's tough to worry about dodging the wheels on the ground and the ones falling.  However, I should note that sometimes Chill Man is a pushover and other times he will not let you move, just like Concrete.

MM&B - Dynamo Man.  I hate this guy.  I hate this guy.  I hate this guy.  I hate this guy.  I hate this guy.  I hate this guy.  STOP REFILLING YOUR GOD DANG ENERGY AND DIE ALREADY!!!

Why does everyone find Dive Man so hard?
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?

YAY.

MM1 Elecman. reason already given.

MMDWR Cutman. Not enough room to dodge his attacks!

MM2 erm, Quickman. I can buster only him on the refight though.

mm3 fricken Hardman, never could figure out the pattern to the fists.

mm4 drillman. a pain to dodge, no clear pattern

mm5 darkman 2, I suck in this fight but all the others are a breeze. If you want a real robot master I'd say the hardest is crystalman.

mm6 centaur. Teleporting jerk.

mm7 Slashman.

mm&B yep Dynamo doesn't even seem to be weak to copy vision.

Why does everyone find Dive Man so hard?
I think it's because if you don't immediatly kill the missiles they stick to you like glue making the rest of the fight that much harder.

Mega Man 5:
Wave Man
Because why not

Mega Man 6:
Plant Man
Never could doge him

Mega Man 7:
Slash Man
Tedious~

Mega Man 9:
Plug Man
Too many things

Mega Man 10:

Just here to dump my thoughts on who others thought were hard.

Elec-Man:  I, personally, found Elec-Man a breeze.  Stand on the Guts Blocks at the left, repetitively toss Rolling Cutter, jump when he tosses his Thunder Beam, and you'll probably win without getting hit.
(Funny how he can't even hurt me in the Wily Stage 2 Rematch...)

Drill-Man:  Unless you mean his erratic firing of Drill Bombs--which he tends to almost never shoot for me--I found Drill-Man a piece of cake to dodge.  MM8 said it best:  "Slide!  Slide!"  It can be annoying to turn around and shoot him, but that's about all I can think of.
Also, it's hilarious to use Wire Adapter and watch him still run around and attack what isn't there.

Air-Man and Needle-Man I can understand.  They both hit FUCKING EVERYWHERE.  At least in MM3, you could slide under some of Air-Doc's tornadoes...

Also, anyone care to elaborate on Mega Man Soccer/Fire-Man's special ability?
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: Korby on April 01, 2011, 04:29:02 AM
Fire Man's special ability leaves pretty much every goalie in the game incapacitated for quite a few seconds. Using it on the goal is pretty much a guaranteed score.

I thought most abilities did that
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?

His is especially volatile, as pretty much no one(but Enker or Wily) can block it.

MM1: None... Exept when i do buster only, Then Elecman.
MM2: Same as above. NONE!
MM3: Also none... Exept when you think the doc robots count. Then doc robot Quickman buster only ;)
MM4: Toadman! (lolz...) Nah not really any tough ones here.
MM5: All too easy.
MM6: Maybe Tomahawk man... But also not really tough or anything.
MM7: I can almost play the game blindfolded -.-
MM8: Swordman
MM&B: Dynamoman. (specially when playing megaman and buster only'ing    )
MM9: Magmaman
MM10: Blademan or Strikeman.
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: Kapus on April 01, 2011, 02:09:37 PM
Blade Man is the easiest robot master since Toad Man.
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: Myroc on April 01, 2011, 02:50:26 PM
MM1: All the Robot Masters were pushovers with their weaknesses. I mean, most of them die in two-three hits. Discounting weaknesses, I'd have to say Ice Man. It's such a simple pattern, yet I fail to dodge it all the time. It's also a three-hit kill, like Elec Man's attacks.

MM2: Wood Man. Again, a lot more bearable with his weakness Atomic Fire (or Metal Blade, if you're so inclined), but seriously. I cannot buster-only this guy. His attacks are hard to dodge, and I cannot keep up to the damage he gets in on me with just the buster.

MM3: Snake Man. I've always had some trouble jumping over him when he decides to run into your part of the battlefield.

MM4: Dive Man. I can dodge his dash attacks rather well, but he fucks up my timing when he decides to shoot the dive missile at me (which also eats through my shield).

MM5: Charge Man. This isn't really because he's hard, but he's the least easiest boss. Seriously, they're all pushovers in this game, weakness or not.

MM6: Tomahawk Man. I hate it when he jumps just long enough to trap you in a corner but not long enough so you have time to slide under him.

MM7: Fuck you Burst Man. No one likes you and your bubbles that you just BARELY have time to break out of with the buster. And that's assuming you're trapped in one of them on the ground. If you fall from the air after bursting out of one into a second, you're doomed to a spiky ceilingy death. This is the only boss where just having the weakness wasn't enough for me, I'd need Junk Shield just to break out of those goddamn bubbles.

MM8: This is going from RM8FC because I haven't played the normal one for Playstation/Sega Saturn beyond the intro stage. I'd probably have to say Sword Man, but they were all pretty easy, atleast with their weaknesses. I haven't tried to Buster only all of them, so I might be a bit biased with this one. Ah well.

MM&B: Burner Man. Not Dynamo Man, although he was a douche as well. I actually found it easier to use Copy Vision on Dynamo Man than it was to use Ice Wall on Burner Man, since I for some reason had difficulty to get him in the "trapped" stance. Otherwise he'd just burn through it with wave burner. This proved to be annoying.

MM9: Concrete Man. Was a bitch to fight even WITH Laser Trident.

(I have not played MM10, so I can't give an opinion on that.)

Edit: You know, in lack of MM10, I'll add MMV instead. They were KIND OF easy in MMV, but the one that annoys me the most is Mercury. Not because he's hard, but screw up, and you can lose anything from weapon energy to p-chips to ENERGY TANKS. Or even goddamn MYSTERY TANKS. That ALONE makes him my first target when I play this game, since I don't want to lose my precious E-Tanks to him.

MM1: Ice Man (Hard stage followed by hard boss.)
MM2: Air Man (I SAID IT.)
MM3: Needle Man (In the cell phone version, you can't shoot him unless he's in the air. >_>)
MM4: Drill Man (GTFO OF THE GROUND)
MM5: Gravity Man (More or less the stage, but...)
MM6: Tomahawk Man (Hair.)
MM7: Freeze Man (...)
MM7FC: BURSTMAN FEOBAOBOBA
MM8: Frost Man (JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE)
MM8FC: Grenade Man (FUUUUUUUUUUUUU-)
MM9: Splash Woman (Those frikking platforms kill me, I swear.)
MM10: SOLARMAN GOBOABOVBA

MMI: Cut Man (Uhuh.)
MMII: Magnet Man (Low jumps)
MMIII: Haven't played too much, so far Snake Man.

MM1: Elec Man
Not necessarily his battle (Trolling Cutter, 3 hits), but his stage. Watchers, cheap jumps, and Yoku blocks. *shiver*
MM2: Quick Man
This spasmodic, rage-inducing boomerang-spammer can MESS YOU UP. The sound of the force beams gives me nightmares.
MM3: Needle Man
No pattern, spammer, likes to corner you. 'Nuff said.
MM4: Bright Man
Not too bad if you know his secret (hint: use a charge shot at 15, 19, and 23 damage), but he still spams and has the habit of jumping on top of you.
MM5: Crystal Man
I know, some of you are laughing, but his Crystal Eye can get really tough to dodge sometines, if it rebounds right.
MM6: Yamato Man
I don't know why I have so much trouble with him, but he's tough to dodge, even with an easy pattern.
MM7: Freeze Man
Without Junk Shield, he's a spaz, and, even though he has a predictable pattern, all of his attacks are really big.
MM8: Grenade Man
His stage is aggravating, his miniboss is annoying, and I refuse to say hello to his cute bombs. MASOCHIST.
MM&B: Astro Man
Even with Magic Card, his Copy Vision can get tough to dodge, especially with the enemies he spawns.
MM9: Concrete Man
He can freeze you, dash into you, and hurts like a lemon wrapped around a brick hitting your brain. How could someone so bulky be so AGILE?!?
MM10: Chill Man
Spaz, cheap shots, and hard to hit with his weakness. Also, he has a stage that is absolutely LETHAL.

Bonus Content:
Rockman No Constancy: Quick Man
His force beams are worse than the originals, especially with ice floors, he can turn himself into flames, and he's even faster.
Mega Man: Powered Up: Bomb Man
Two Words: Critical Attack. It's so hard to dodge and hurts terribly.
MM: TWW: Cut Man
Much worse than the other version, since he only takes 1 bar of damage from the buster this time.
MM: DWR: Cut Man
Spazzier, Trolling Cutter hurts much worse, and his weakness takes away only 2 hp.
MM: DWR2: Needle Man
Now he's weak to Top Spin, and that's even worse.
MM: DWR3: Dust Man
His stage has aggravating jumps, though he himself's a cakewalk.

MM1: Broken 3 hit kill elecman
MM2: woodman (ALWAYS played on difficult)
MM3: Hardman
MM4: Ringman's undodgeable rings (Diveman is only hard for me if I use his weakness, its easier buster only)
MM5: Napalm
MM6: Blizzardman
MM7: Turboman or shademan
MM8: Tenguman
MM&B: The mother of all hard megaman games I'd say Astroman, Went from fail teir to god teir, He's already hard to hit and dodge but its also hard to use his weakness on him (God forbid if Inafune would of let him keep astro crash). Honorable mention to Dio Brando Burnerman, he moves around too much shattering ice wall, and he has a HUGE arsonal of attacks

Why does everyone hate concreteman? Really, once you kept on trying with the buster his pattern is easy. Still, he's my favorite of the game

MM1: Elecman or Iceman - Powerful attacks (But I know a trick to easily no damage - buster only fireman. It actually worked for me!)
MM2: Hmmm....Quickman or Woodman - I don't hate quickman because he gives an epic fight, but those leaves....so hard to dodge!)
MM3: Needle/Shadow/Hard - Needleman and Shadowman are both ninjas that you need very fast reaction too and hardman is hard
MM4: Diveman or ringman - reasons already said in previous posts
MM5: Not sure, but chargeman gave me quite a bit of trouble
MM6: Tomahawkman, but he's not so hard. Fun fight :)
MM9: Plugman - you'd probably know why
MM10: Solarman - Haven't figured out that technique yet. (Can't beat this guy buster only on normal!)

MM4: None are that hard, maybe Pharaoh man
MM7: Slash Man, damn fruit.
MM8fc: The new Sword man. ASDFGHJKLFIRESLASH
MM9: Buster only, Hornet Man.
MM10: Commando Man

It's mainly if you miss the dive missiles....it gets a bit hectic trying to shoot them and when he charges at you and stops it gets you into a pickle. Remember that he does 8 damage! That's more than enough to kill you in 4 hits

Yes. If you miss the Dive Missile, you're in trouble.

I don't see how you could do that, though. I mean, its not like he fires them in random directions.

In before this turns into a topic discussing how to best kill Dive-Man.

What I wound up doing is jumping up high and trying to land on him with a Skull Barrier--typically squandering my ammo deflecting his missiles.  It typically wound up with me getting disoriented--and promptly bulldozed by his charging move.
Also, have you tried killing him using Dive Missiles?  Despite the typical Robot Master being immune to their own weapon, Dive Missiles do 1 damage against Dive-Man.  They work wonders for finishing him, because they require no aiming.
'Kay, so Dive-Man isn't the hardest RM known to man.  But he's still a lot harder than Drill-Man.

Also, YOU.  YOU THERE, MR. ZERO.
YOU COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT.
Quote from: "Me"
All the MM10 Masters were easy, but Chill-Man was still the hardest.

I don't care if they were all easy--who was still the most annoying/difficult to kill?

I still say Dive Man is way easier than Drill. He's probably the second easiest master in the game, losing only to Toad of course.

yeah, For some reason all robot masters are much easier when you stop considering their projectiles.  :p

I would have said bright man, but even if he hit's you every time he freezes time, the rest of his attacks are too easy to dodge.

and once you take E-tanks into account none of the robotmasters are difficult.

Anything homing in your direction no matter how much you move can lead to panic, so I would say that could be a reason as to why most of us hate fighting him. That and half the time common sense isn't applied when your just hot linked on "jump jump, shoot jump, slide, run, jump shoot, etc from traversing a stage :p

I'll just put my biggest hatreds.

MM1: Yellow Devil Elec Man.  I just never focused my ears enough to hear when he was shooting, and got hit far too much.

MM3: I read through this thread, every time I read "Shadow Man" I cringed in pain.  With top spin, he isn't bad, but buster only... I found him harder than needle.

MM6: Centaur Man is just a gigantic asshole.

MM&B: I've played through MM&B a couple times, and I found myself falling to burner man so many times.  I've never attempted to buster only him, as I slightly value my sanity.  Ice wall is awkward to use too, but useful I admit.  Dynamo is a cakewalk to me.

Why does everyone keep saying elec man? :V
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: arkman on April 05, 2011, 12:24:42 AM
probably because elecman is the best combination of randomness and damage. Gutsman does little damage and is predictable, Iceman has an easy pattern though he does a lot of damage. Fireman is borderline undogable but just keep shooting him, bombman can be hard to dodge but he doesn't hit that hard.

Elecman has a 3 hit kill, is fairly fast, and might just screw you over by jumping unexpectedly.
granted with weaknesses the hardest one is gutsman because he can actually dodge hyperbomb

Blademan has another weakness other than Commando Bomb. He has Toadmanitus! Find a video on youtube on beating him no damage and no special weapons, as chances are they will break his AI. Once you get used to breaking his AI and locking him into an easy pattern, he's no trouble at all.

Eh just try to be patient and slide the opposite direction of the tornado. The stage may be cramped but it should leave you enough to dodge. Now if you were to jump over the Kamaitachi attack then that would take a bit practice if you want to be flashy ((even though jumping over it isn't hard, just have to be close before I launch it)).

EDIT: I only buster dueled the first two games. The rest of the games, I used weaknesses.

MM1: Elec Man (besides Fire Man, he was the only one I couldn't buster duel). His main attack is powerful enough to kill you in like 3 hits, and can only take one point of damage from your buster. Need I explain more?

MM2: This is a tough one...probably Quick Man, but not by a large margin. I was able to buster duel most of the robots without any problems.

MM3: A lot of people (from the first two pages) said Shadow Man...he's the one I start with! I'd have to say Needle Man because he's dangerous up close.

MM4: My memory is not very good...maybe Dust Man?

MM5: Even less of a memory here. As far as the stages go, Crystal Man, hands down.

MM6: Again, not much of a memory here. Probably either Yamato or Knight Man.

MM7: Slash Man by a small margin (runner up is Freeze Man). What makes him worse is that he does his hardest attack every time you burn or freeze him.

MM8: I don't remember this game that much...but I think it was Search Man.

MM&B: I loathe Burner Man...without Ice Wall, he was a big hothead to contain.

MM9: MM9's robot masters weren't too bad...it's the Wily Stages I dread. Probably Concrete Man, but really I can't think of one that really stood out.

MM10: Blade Man as the robot master, but as for stages, Strike Man. 1/2 damage is REQUIRED on Hard mode to reach Strike Man.

I've played a lot of these, so I'll do some too (note: the fights are obviously easier with their weaknesses, but I give the ones that are hard with just the mega buster:

MM1: Elec Man
Reason: He's fast and his shots are hard to avoid. The room not being level is helpful, but it still doesn't matter occasionally. Ice Man is an honorable mention, but his attack pattern is slower and easier to avoid.

MM2: Quick Man
Reason: He himself isn't that difficult, but that terrain is difficult to deal with while dodging his boomerangs. Honorable mention to Flash Man, for mostly the same reasons (except he stops time while firing a spread of buster shots).

MM3: Shadow Man
Reason: His patterns, while not unpredictable, are quickly executed and difficult to avoid. If he was more powerful (like Elec Man, say), he'd be much tougher to beat. Honorable mention goes to Gemini Man, for having a split personality. Also, I think the toughest robot masters on average are in this game, but that's just me.

MM4: Bright Man
Reason: This is tough not because any MM4 robot master is particularly tough, but because they're all relatively easy. I choose Bright Man for his Flash Stopping ability followed by his accurate jumps. Honorable mention goes to Ring Man; he's fast, but his attack pattern is too predictable to matter at all.

MM5: Charge Man
Reason: This guy is more cheap than tough since he's so difficult to jump over accurately. Honorable mention goes to Wave Man, since his water wave attack is not so easy to predict.

MM6: Centaur Man
Reason: His splitting buster and his centaur flash, when he uses them correctly, are difficult to avoid damage from. However, none of these robot masters are particularly dangerous. Honorable mention goes to Tomahawk Man, for his long jumps and more varied attacks.

MM7: Slash Man
Reason: I haven't played this game in quite a while (I felt it sucked), so I reserve the right to change my opinion here. The last time I played this game, though, he easily gave me the most trouble, with his speed and varied attacks. Honorable mention goes to Shade Man since he can fly and since his shots are generally more powerful than the typical robot master.

MM&B: Dynamo Man
Reason: Whether you're Mega Man or Bass in this game, Dynamo Man's attack pattern is varied and difficult to predict. He also can recharge his energy in combat. Honorable mention goes to Burner Man, since his Burning Wave can deflect shots (but if you're Bass, you can double jump and diagonally fire downward at him to get hits) and also for the spikes.

MM8, MM9, and MM10 I have yet to play, so I have no opinion there.

Easiest Robot Masters in each game (with just the mega buster):

MM1: Guts Man
Reason: He's way too slow and predictable to be any challenge. Dishonorable mention goes to Bomb Man, for the same reasons.

MM2: Bubble Man
Reason: He's too weak to be any major factor. Dishonorable mention goes to Wood Man, for being too predictable and slow.

MM3: Top Man
Reason: His attack pattern is way too predictable to be a challenge. Dishonorable mention goes to Hard Man, for the same reasons (though if he hits you, it's going to hurt a lot).

MM4: Toad Man
Reason: Do I even have to state why? Dishonorable mention goes to Dust Man, since his attacks are slow and his movements predictable.

MM5: Star Man
Reason: Only one attack and a bunch of movements in low gravity that are easy to dodge. Dishonorable mention goes to Stone Man, for being Toad Man with an actual (albeit easy to dodge) attack.

MM6: Plant Man
Reason: He only has one attack, so he's far from dangerous. Dishonorable mention goes to Flame Man, since his attacks are too easily avoided.

MM7: Spring Man
Reason: Again, his attacks are too predictable. Dishonorable mention goes to Burst Man, also for being too predictable.

MM&B: Cold Man
Reason: Much too basic of an attack pattern. Dishonorable mention goes to Ground Man, since his attacks are easily dodged if you know what he's doing.

Bright Man and Ring Man aren't hard. For Bright you just charge shot him at 15, 19, and 23 to dodge the Flash Stopper, and for Ring you just stay at the sides of the room and jump over him when he runs at you. Also, I think most of the MM4 bosses are easy with buster only.
IMO.

Alrighty

Hardest
Mega Man : Ice Man. Yeah, quit laughing. I always jump too soon and hit the middle slasher, then panic and die.

Mega Man 2 : Wood Man. I can't get the timing right for dodging the leaf shield and the falling leaves at the same time. Most of MM2 was easy though, so don't think I find this guy super hard, he's just the hardest by comparison.

Mega Man 3 : Shadow Man. With his weakness you always get hit, without it you always get hit.

Mega Man 4 : Too god damn easy... still my favourite in the series though!

Mega Man 5 : Uhm... Wave Man? I find his water waves unpredictable and annoying.

Mega Man 6 : Tomahawk Man. Most of it was easy, but taking this guy on with a shield when he's constantly "feathering" you...

Mega Man 7 : Cloud Man. NO IT'S NOT SLASH MAN, OMGNOWAI.

Mega Man 8 : Uhm... Clown Man? Only because I've played that game ONCE and he was the only one I beat without the weakness.

Mega Man 9 : Oddly enough, Magma Man. I just suck.

Mega Man 10 : Commando Man, because I fail it with timing.

Easiest
Mega Man : Cut Man. Hurr, recoil in MM1.

Mega Man 2 : Probably Air Man, you can just stand behind him and spam fire with the Leaf Shield, too easy.

Mega Man 3 : Top Man. Fire fire fire JUMP fire fire fire JUMP repeat.

Mega Man 4 : THEY WERE ALL THE EASIEST.

Mega Man 5 : Does Dark Man count?

Mega Man 6 : Probably Wind Man. He's weak to Centaur Flash, right?

Mega Man 7 : Junk Man, his pattern is just easy.

Mega Man 8 : Uhm... I don't remember... Maybe Aqua Man? You just spam Astro Crush IIRC.

Mega Man 9 : Splash Woman

Mega Man 10 : Nitro Man because of how many times you can hit him with the Chill Spike in one passing

Sorry for necroposting, but I wanted to state my opinion on this.

Mega Man 1: Guts Man
Yep, you heard right. Guts Man's stage can already take some health out of you, and when you reach him, he can be difficult. The jumping can be awkward if you don't time it right. And he can CORNER YOU!
Mega Man 2: Quick Man
SPAZZ. 'Nuff said.
Mega Man 3: Needle Man
With the Gemini Laser, this guy's a cakewalk, but NOT with the buster. He also likes to corner you, and then fire his Needle Cannon. He's also quite random.
Mega Man 4: Bright Man AND Pharaoh Man
Bright Man... oh, god... I found out a way to beat him without him using his Flash Stopper, but he is STILL annoying, especially on the Game Boy games.
As for Pharaoh Man, he can sometimes corner you and barrage you with fireballs.
Mega Man 5: Wave Man
The jet ski segment was annoying already, and when you reach this guy, it'll be unlikely that you'll be at full health. His Water Wave can be very unpredictable.
Mega Man 6: Centaur Man
Oh, man. He can freeze you, fire an awkward split shot, and charge you.
Mega Man 7: Slash Man, Hands Down
Randomized, throws tar eggs that stun you, and can dive bomb you. He's probably the hardest of the ones I'm listing.
Mega Man 8: Aqua Man
He has an undodgeable move, which is enough. His giant water geyser attack can be annoying too. Water Balloon is easy to dodge.
Mega Man 9: Tornado Man
Ugh, this guy was hard. But awesome. His Tornado Blow can get confusing because of the spiked ceiling.
Mega Man 10: Commando Man
He's Guts Man's clone, armed with bombs. He is the MASTER of cornering and can freeze you by jumping.
Mega Man V: Pluto
He's a spazz. But a nice kitty.
Mega Man And Bass: Burner Man
This guy not only throws out bear traps, but can spam the Wave Burner to push you into the spikes. It's easier with Bass. EVERYTHING's easier with Bass.

Mega Man: I'd have to say Elec Man simply because of his spastic movement and the damage his attacks do.
Mega Man Powered Up: Gotta be Cut Man. I have a lot of trouble dodging his regular cutter. His pinch attack also eliminates the precious Super Arm blocks.
Mega Man 2: Bubble Man. I have difficulty with his stage, and his attacks are awkward to dodge. Jump too high and you hit the spikes.
Mega Man 3: Needle Man. I always play his stage first. His fight is pretty hard, but it's also damn fun.
Mega Man 4: Dive Man, since he's a lot faster than he looks and it's pretty hard to hit him with the Skull Barrier.
Mega Man 5: Gyro Man. Disappearing in the clouds half the time. I always end up standing under him when he lands.
Mega Man 6: Probably Plant Man, with that huge fucking hitbox on the Plant Barrier.
Mega Man 7: Freeze Man. I try to dodge his attacks but I always get frozen and then get hit with the Freeze Cracker.
Mega Man 8: Definitely Search Man. Too spastic, and he just spams the shit out of his missiles.
Mega Man 9: FUCKING MAGMA MAN HORNET MAN. THERE IS NO DODGING HIS ATTACKS WITHOUT USING THE GODDAMN TORNADO BLOW MAGMA BAZOOKA.
Mega Man 10: Sheep Man. He always fires electricity when I'm not prepared for it, and by the time I recover he's in the goddamn clouds again.

MM1: Elec Man (Three hits from Thunder beam and you are dead)
MM2: Air Man... Just kidding XD For me it is Metal man because you fight him on a conveyor belt
MM3: Shadow Man (If top spin is gone, the other weapons do little damage to him)
MM4: Dive Man (I hate the Dive Missiles and when he speeds across the screen)
MM5: Gravity Man (When he keeps reversing gravity, it is hard to hit him)
MM6: Flame Man (His Flame pillars block the mega buster shots)
MM7: Freeze Man (He can freeze your feet to the floor, or freeze you entirely! )
MM8: Tengu Man (He spends too much time in the air)
MM&B: Dynamo Man (he can refill his health)
MM9: Tornado Man (Death Spikes in the boss' room)
MM10: Blade Man (he is fast)

Oh, this again. My opinions have definitely changed since 2011.

MM1 - Fire Man. Supposedly there's a trick to the way he fires at you, but I can never figure it out and I always end up panicking.
MM2 - Wood Man. Leaf Shield is nearly impossible to dodge.
MM3 - Shadow Man's a spaz.
MM4 - Ring Man. Timing the Rings can be challenging.
MM5 - Charge Man.
MM6 - Tomahawk Man.
MM7 - Freeze Man. He's doing too many things at once.
MM8 - Can't remember.
MM9 - Plug Man's a nightmare.
MM10 - Solar Man.
MM&B - Dynamo Man is unfair.

My turn.

MM1 - Bombman. Annoying Bombs...
MM2 - None. For me, they're all easy to defeat.
MM3 - Topman. Because i don't even really slide in battle.
MM4 - All.
MM5 - Chargeman. Too fast, can't Dodge fastly.
MM6 - Knightman. Annoying Knight Shield...
MM7 - All expect Burstman. I can't defeat all 7 robot masters...

MM1 - Fire Man or Elec Man.
MMPU - Elec Man.
MM2 - Quick Man.
MM3 - Snake Man. His tail always manages to whip me when I try to dodge his attacks.
MM4 - Ring Man. I swear, his rings are insane to dodge when cornered.
MM5 - Charge Man.
MM6 - Tomahawk Man.
MM7 - Turbo Man.
MM8 - They were all kind of easy. I guess probably Sword Man.
MM9 - Hornet Man.
MM10 - Probably Solar Man. Maybe Nitro Man too on harder difficulties.
MM10Killers - Definitely Enker.
MM&B - Dynamo Man. With a game that has no E-tanks, this is probably the most unfairest robot master fight there is.

Special Notes
SFxMM - Vegas.
Mega Man Unlimited - Glue Man.
Rokko Chan - Volcano Man.
Mega Man Christmas Carol - Ghost of Christmas Future.
Mega Man Christmas Carol 2 - Scrooge.
Wily Wars - Buster Rod G.

Hmmmm. Form what I can remember from each game that I've beaten all Robot Masters in...

MM1: Guts Man. Aiming those stupid Hyper Bombs, combined with earthquakes and giant boulders flying at your face, does not make for a fun time. At least it took about 3 or 4 hits to defeat Guts MAn with it.
MM2: None
MM3: Shadow Man. Mainly because Top Spin would randomly do NO DAMAGE, or just drain all of it's energy in a single use.
MM4: None
MM5: Charge Man. When I first played the game, I picked Charge Man first. Big mistake. Although he is still pretty tough, even WITH his weakness.
MM6: Knight Man. Although once you get Yamato Spear, he's easy, but I chose to defeat him first, and aiming at his back is rather hard.
MM7: Shade Man. Flies for most of the battle, only comes down to grab you, or petrify you. And Wild Coil is really hard to hit him with.
MM8: Search Man. Really only because if you choose the wrong leaf pile to BURN TO THE GROUND, he blasts you with a "tsunami of Homing Snipers". And his Deadly Storm attack ain't that nice either.
MM9: Concrete Man. He's really big, and freezes you with his Concrete Shots. And it doesn't help that you take MASSIVE damage from touching him.
MM10: Blade Man. JUMP! JUMP! WALL JUMP! WALL JUMP! THROW KNIVES! THROW KNIVES! The only boss in this game that's hard to beat when playing as Bass.
MM&B: All of them. It'd take me about 2 weeks to get through each stage. One week for the stage itself, one week for the boss fight at the end.
MM:DWR: All of the MM1 bosses. Take the boss fights from the NES MM1, put them in a tiny room only half the size of the original, and DON'T make Thunder Beam or Fire Storm smaller. Making Cut Man jump really low wasn't a nice thing either. (To survive Cut Man jumping over you, you'd practically have to memorize the spots where he'd jump)
MMII (GB): Air Man. With the same amount of tornadoes as the NES MM2, that makes the screen very cramped and difficult to beat Air Man without taking damage.
MMIII (GB): Gemini Man. 2 Gemini Mans on a small screen. Yeah.
MMWW (Wily Tower): Buster Rod G. I find it really hard to avoid that damn Monkey King Rod of his, and those clones he makes aren't easy to dodge either.

Rokko Chan: Jet Man. Combine the homing missiles of Search Man, with the flying of Shade Man, and throw in a bit of Quick Man speed, and you get annoying boss fight # 573
MMSG: Sugarman. the sugarman ran away.

Any ones I have not listed on here, are because I A). Cannot beat any stages in them (MMPC, and MMU), B). Can't remember the boss fights clear enough (the arcade games, and Christmas Carol 1), C). Never played them (last two GB games are prime examples of this), or D). I have them, but I either haven't played them yet (hello there Rockmen R), or I CAN'T play them, due to computer incompatabilities (Christmas Carol 2), or DOSBox is refusing to play the game in question (MM3PC).

...

Or they just don't have any Robot Masters (MMSG2).

MM6 - Knightman. Annoying Knight Shield...
Yamato Sphere can go through his shield.

I'm gonna make this list based on buster only situations:

MM1: Cut Man - jumping and throwing Rolling Cutter at random is really annoying.
MM2: Quick Man - same as Cut Man, but faster.
MM3: None, I can buster them all with relatively no problems. Shadow and Needle tend be tricky sometimes, though.
MM4: Pharaoh Man, for sure. Can't really beat him without Flash Stopper yet.
MM5: ...I don't remember using the buster for anything other than Charge Man, so I guess Stone Man would be tough with buster only.
MM6: Tomahawk Man, even with his weakness! How ironic.
MM7: Turbo Man and his annoying fire damage attacks. I go for him first when using the 8 RM start code, though.
MM8: Search Man. So much Search Man.
MM&B: Fucking Dynamo Man.
MMGB1: Elec Man, because his pattern is unpredictable and there's no boxes to stay on top of unlike the NES battle.

Haven't played 9, 10 or the GB games from 2 through 5.

(Almost) every robot master is easy with their weakness-weapon, so i think its best to list those who i think are the hardest with the buster only, so please keep that in mind.

Mega Man 1: Elec Man
Three hits and you die. Sometimes its better to run into him to take less damage (!)

Mega Man 2: Quick Man
He doesnt follow that much of a pattern, i feel like he does what he wants, not like for example Airman or Woodman.

Mega Man 3: Shadow Man
The infamous Ninja robot, Shadow Man, is hard to dodge, and you often have to guess when he slides. At least it feels like that.
Besides that, i think every Docrobot form is pretty hard.

Mega Man 4: Hard decision, but the winner is Pharaoh Man
Even tough his fight may be not that hard, i still think he is the hardest out of the Mega Man 4 robot masters.

Mega Man 5: The bosses of MM5 arent very hard, so i think the hardest one is probably Napalm Man.
Sometimes a pain when he corners you.

Mega Man 6: Yamato Man
Not much to say here, i think he is pretty tough.

Mega Man 7: Freeze Man (who would have guessed?)
An intense and hard battle. No matter where he shots, his attack, the freeze cracker, is always annoying, no matter, what he hits with it.

Mega Man 8: Search Man
Yeah, he is not hard in the way of "killing you with few shots", he just takes long, which sometimes makes you almost fall asleep, but then you get shot from any direction, sometimes even pretty fast.

Mega Man 9: Plug Man
I can perfect any MM9 boss, except Plug Man!
High damage, annoying pattern and the room you fight him is more of a pain than Quick Mans!

Mega Man 10: Nitro Man
I dont like to fight this guy...

Mega Man & Bass: Dynamo Man
Same as Search Man, but much more dangerous and takes even longer!

MM1 - Between Elecman and Iceman: Both kill you in three hits with their projectiles, one fires a huge projectile and moves very fast, the other fires slow projectiles rapidly and are hard to dodge.

MM2 - Quickman: Not because he's powerful, but because he's superfast. Bustering this guy is always one of my highlights when playing MM2.

MM3 - Needleman: This guy is still unpredictable to me. Not only is he hard to hit with his weakness (which slows down the game, by the way), but his shots are very hard to dodge, and he deals a lot of damage with that hammer attack.

MM4 - RINGMAN: This guy's boomerangs are so confusing, thus hard to dodge, and the way the weakness interacts with enemies makes it a very uneven match...you could get a good match if Ringman jumps on the charged shot over your headm or a bad match if you can't avoid him at all.

MM5 - Gravityman: This guy is just plainly annoying to hit. You're constantly going up and down, and have to predict Gravityman's movement so you can damage him in midair.

MM6 (I think this game has very easy bosses, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick...) - Yamatoman: He's literally made of throwing you off.

MM7 - Freezeman: This is the pinnacle of boss fights. This is the master of Masters. It's not just a really intricate boss fight: it's duable AND hard.

MM8 - NONE. I'm sorry, weakness stuns are STUPID. If I had to pick one WITHOUT FIGHTING WITH WEAKNESSES, I'd pick Searchman...although I've never tried a buster-only run of MM8 myself, he looks pretty cheap. The hardest boss in this game is the first fortress boss...and it's a gimmick boss.

MM&B - Dynamoman: He recovers health and his lightning attack is hard to predict.

I haven't played MM9 or MM10 myself, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Galaxyman and Nitroman look like the hardest of their respective games.

Galaxy Man is actually one of the easiest of the MM9 masters, alongside Splash Woman.

Oh.  Hey.  This topic is alive again.  Guess I should update.

MM1:  I've learned to handle Ice a while ago; the only guy who still gives me trouble sometimes is Fire-Man.  Weaknesses or no, he is in general a pain to fight.
MM2:  Unchanged from Crash-Man.  Quick-Man probably deserves the spot more, but he's never given me as much trouble as good old Crash did.
MM3:  Unchanged from Shadow-Man.  It's been a long time since I've actually played MM3, and even though I've learned some of his tricks, he seems like more of a pain than the other RMs.
MM4:  I was probably overly frustrated at Dive-Man at the time of writing this because he killed me so much.  Ring-Man is probably the real pain here; I remembered beating him using his weakness and a small stack of E-Tanks the first time.
MM5:  Probably Wave-Man or Crystal-Man.  Everyone else's pattern in the game, I have down to a science, but Wave-Man can throw a wrench into that with his random Water Wave, and Crystal-Man has a large number of projectiles going for him.
MM6:  I really can't remember a lot about my MM6 experience, but I vaguely recall having trouble with Blizzard-Man.  Might have been his stage, though.
7FC:  Turbo-Man.  It was honestly a lot of stupid deaths, but this guy killed me more than any other 7FC RM.  The timing on his motor-car attack was really the only big thorn in my side.
8FC:  Search-Man.  Homing missiles in excess along with a hide-in-the-bushes gimmick was more than enough to make me dislike this guy, but then they threw in the scopes.  Dodging this guy has been one of my greatest challenges as a Mega Man gamer.
MM9:  I don't even know why I said Concrete-Man the first time.  Even with his weakness and a small stack of E-Tanks, I had trouble beating Plug-Man.  That guy is just a pain.
MM10:  No discredit to Chill-Man—I still remember all those kills you got on me in the boss room, bud—but after some reviewing, Solar-Man seems more difficult.  Similar amounts of damage, similar amounts of trickiness, but in Solar-Man, the boss room is also against you—the varied elevation makes for much more annoyance than ice physics.

RNC:  Clash-Man.  Wow, what a shocker.  He was basically a souped-up version of the Crash-Man I knew, with his new explosive detonating the entire floor instead of just one spot.  Failing to time my jump properly quite often, I met many an end against this foe.
4MI:  Shadow-Man Dust-Man was probably the trickiest RM here.  His randomized Recycle Inhaler made dodging a pain, and there were more than a couple embarrassing deaths where I was just sucked into him, turned into a -Tank, and kicked into a furnace.  I didn't get as mad at Dust-Man MI as I did at other tricky RMs, though—the mark of a really good boss, if you ask me.

Rokko Chan:  Fransiska & Lancea Rolling-Man.  Rolling is a lot like Crash in the sense that I seem to be the only person on the planet who has trouble with him.  I dunno.  I guess it's the projectile spam that gets me.  At least I can kill basically every other RM in the game with little to no trouble.
Christmas Carol:  Future.  Anyone who's ever tried to Dragon him will know exactly why Future.
Christmas Carol 2:  If we speak of Normal Mode, it's Want.  Want was the only one who really gave me any trouble on my first playthrough—Scrooge had some windup to all of his attacks, and Ignorance and Tim were basically "gimmick" RMs where once you learned how to hurt them, killing them was a breeze.  On Hard Mode, though, Scrooge gave me a lot more trouble because he kept healing himself, making him the hardest.
MMU:  Glue-Man.  Just...Glue-Man.  I could probably go start an entire topic about Glue-Man's bullshit.  To those of you who are content with that knowledge, advance.  To those of you that wish to know why, enter the spoiler below.
(click to show/hide)

MMRevo:  I didn't find any MMRevo RMs particularly difficult—except for Storm-Man.  He stays out of range enough and his homing Storm Chaser does enough damage to make his peskiness notable.  Beat and some other weapons help ease the pain, though.
MMRF:  I think Photon-Man was the only Robot Master who ever actually killed me.  So I guess he wins by default.
Mega Pony:  Loyal Mare.  Mega Pony had its fair share of tricky boss fights (Though Magic Mare was unexpectedly simple and easy), but Loyal's struck me as blatantly unfair the first time I tried it.  Darting around her boss room and jumping randomly, she goes into her Sonic Rainboom charge attack whenever she nears, and...well, she just does a fair amount of damage.  She was basically Quick-Man, only exchanging projectiles for more damage.  She was very pesky, and it took me a long time to decipher a pattern for her.
Rockmen R:  Power-Man.  Rockmen R quickly sets up a precedent that hitting bosses with charged shots knocks them back in a manner similar to the way you do any time you get hit.  Then this guy marches into the room and smashes that precedent into a million pieces.  Being the largest RM in the game, jumping over his charging attack is difficult (Especially with RMR's wonky physics), and it does ludicrous amounts of damage on contacts.  If you're not a fan of that attack, his other one involves him pounding the ground and sending off a bunch of randomly arcing rocks, which are equally annoying to dodge but do less damage.  His weakness is the most clunky weapon ever, too—imagine Hyper Bomb with a much longer fuse and an explosion radius that's not even taller than Roll.  His only saving grace is that said weakness kills him in a sweet two hits.

Heck, I actually feel like saying something about this

MM1: Ice Man. His projectiles do as much damage as Elec's, and they require precision timing to dodge. Thankfully his weakness kills him quickly. I don't find Elec Man too hard actually, but that's because I know how to pattern-lock him where he can't even fire off any shots!

MM2: Quick Man. Completely unpredictable, crazy contact damage and homing boomerangs that he's happy to blast shotgun-style right in your face. Even worse as a doc robot in MM3. Crash Man isn't difficult at all, just jump and shoot him only when you're about to collide.

MM3: Needle Man. Shadow Man is more predictable than this guy! Essentially undodge-able needle spam and quick jumps and the needle press that do insane damage.

MM4: Bright Man. He uses the flash stopper, you're going to get hit. And his weakness needs full energy to take him out. Ring Man still has a pattern that can be learned (jump twice over the first ring), and Dive Man can be dodged by well timed jumps if you predict his 3 charges. Just don't use the skull barrier.

MM5: Heck, they're all easy. Probably crystal thanks to sheer projectile volume.

MM6: Still all easy. I'll go with centaur because of his brightman-esque time stopping that makes the arrow split unavoidable. That and huge contact damage.

MM7: (FC): Burst Man and his insta-kill spiked ceiling. The fact that his projectiles block buster shots and his weakness is annoying as well. Slashman comes in at a close second thanks to his nigh-unavoidable slash dash off the walls when you're almost certain to be covered in the red slime.

MM8: (FC): Search Man. His attacks seem more suited to a Mega Man X game. There's too much to pay attention to and let's not even get started on the bullet wall that is crazy destroyer.

MM&B: Magic Man. How is he not mentioned more? Ridiculously fast movement and lightning quick projectile attacks that lead you right into his dashes. Way too fast paced.

MMU: Glue Man. Incredible potential for damage and getting stuck means you're dead in the water. At least it's not too hard to use his weakness when you remember it climbs walls.

MMxSF: Ryu. The spinning kick is unpredictable and he's invincible while performing it. Couple this with projectile streams blocking your shots and he becomes very difficult to hit.

Hmm, the toughest Robot Master in each game you say?

MM1: Fire Man
Why Fire Man? He spams! It's a bloody spam battle if you want to kill this son of a bitch, the fact that the Robot Master rematches were one after the other didn't help, either.

MM2: Wood Man
If you tried him in Hard Mode, he was pretty tough. Then again almost none of the bosses in MM2 were actually a challenge, except Wood Man.

MM3: Shadow Man
Mega Man 3 brought me a bad time, the worst was with Shadow Man. I don't even get as to why he can slide, throw poison blades AND turn invisible.

MM4: Dive Man
That guy was too fast.

MM5: Charge Man
With or without Power Stone, this guy was tough.

I don't remember much of MM6. I have not played MM7-10 though.

Haven't played much megaman in a while, but I remember some terrible parts in stages to make up for this.
MM1: Elec man. This stage introduced me to the worst enemy ever. the thing that swings across the floor in hopes to murder you.
elec man himself is very hard, and if you accidentally do the pause glitch... oh gosh.
MM2:Quick man. my reaction when playing this stage: RUN! QUICKBEEMZ!!. quick man himself is hard without flash stopper, but, we know how easy that is to get. his speed makes him hard to dodge and shoot at the same time without a moonwalk code.
i don't know for MM3
MM4(MI): Wave Man/Enker/Dive Man: This entire stage gave me the most trouble. Enker is pretty easy, but getting to wave man isn't.
It took me AT LEAST 50 tries. Thanks save states! I had to go watch beed do it online before i could even get close! wave man Isn't too much of a pain, MM5 didn't give me any trouble. dive man's water cutter attacks are insanly hard to dodge, but can be fooled, his strange pattern got me killed several times.
MM10: Blade man. he would be easier if ALL THE WEAPONS WEREN'T TRAPS! Sorry, I just hate that game. his weakness is commando bomb, which will have you crying on the floor because you can never hit him. I tried him on EASY. He still killed me.

This is my list (Mega buster only):

MEGAMAN 1: Iceman: This guy is the hardest boss in megaman 1, his ice slasher is very hard to dodge and he can kill you with only three hits
Megaman 2: Quickman: He is very quick and had no AI pattern
Megaman 3: Shadowman: He moves a lot, and i don`t Know if he is going to slide or to attack with his Shadow Blade
Megaman 4: Brightman: He have a Pattern, but still very hard
Megaman 5: Chargeman: The same problem as Shadowman
Megaman 6:Tomahawkman: You have to be in the right spot to defeat him, he is very quick too
Megaman 7: Slashman: I hate when he climb to the wall
Megaman 8: Aquaman: Altough he is not very hard
Megaman and bass:Burner man: He allways kill me( except when i use the Ice wall)
Megaman 9: Plugman: His plug balls are very hard to dodge( you have to dodge Plugman himself too)
Megaman 10: Pumpman: I have a hard time dodging his water shield, in hard mode he shoots his boomerang too

Megaman unlimited: Trinitroman: If you hit the upper part of his head, he will explode( Thus killing you)
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?

Let's see...

MM1: Ice Man. Elec Man and Fire Man can both be tricked in to easy patterns, but you have to be legit with Ice Man. Dodging in between the slashers is very precise, and they kill you in 3 hits to boot. Talk about challenging.
MM2: Quick Man would be the obligatory choice, but Air Man gives me just as much trouble. We all know why Quick Man is hard, but some of Air Man's patterns are EXTREMELY precise and allow NO room for error whatsoever. I think both of them are equally difficult.
MM3: Shadow Man. This is purely a reaction battle, relying on reflexes to see what he'll do. My reflexes aren't always that great. You can see why this is difficult.
MM4: Drill Man. I've always had trouble telling where he's going to pop up, and his Drill Bomb spam can be a serious pain in the ass.
MM5: Wave Man. His random Water Wave plus the low clearance jumping his harpoons makes this the only hard boss in MM5.
MM6: Yamato Man. He sends spears everywhere, and he's pretty fast about it to. Having very little reaction time, and being able to block your shots, it's a challenging fight.
MM7: I've seen a lot of people say Freeze Man, but I've mastered him, so Slash Man. THOSE FREAKING JELLY ORBS. I hate them with an absolute passion.
MM8: I've never bustered the all of these bosses, but I'd have to say Search Man. The missile spam is really annoying to dodge.
MM&B: Burner Man, Dynamo Man, Astro Man, fucking every boss in this game is hard. Fuck this game.
MM9: Plug Man. Having absolutely no recognizable pattern, his jumping, his Plug Balls, everything is a challenge of wit and pure reaction time. It's kinda insane.
MM10: Commando Man. Having the ability to corner you for a nice cheap hit, and being all out insane as Mega Man, this boss earns his spot.

Hey, let's do fan games, why not?

Rokko Chan: Forest Man. His jumps are random, and dodging his homing bees just feels claustrophobic.
Mega Man Rock Force: Judging on the recent update, Charade Man. He went from being mildy challenging to absolutely insane. Bullets and projectiles fly everywhere, and combined with the Charade Clone, it just gets ridiculous.
Mega Man Unlimited: Trinitro Man. Being able to corner you easily to hit you with the powerful Nitro Blast, having the gimmick of his glass case, makes this a seriously challenging and tense battle.
Mega Man Revolution: I find these bosses to be particularly hard (and cheap in some ways), but Storm Man and Cyro Man would have to be the worst for Mega Man and Bass respectively. Storm Man is constantly out of your reach, and Bass' weak buster makes killing Cyro Man in time impossible.

I love the irony in the fact that you can defeat Pharoah Man easily but have trouble with WIND MAN? Seriously, he might be the easiest boss in all of Mega Man. Just know that you can always jump the gryos, no matter what position they're in.
Title: Re: Toughest Robot Master in Each Game?
Post by: Metallix on March 25, 2014, 10:47:03 PM
The thing is that I tend to freak out the first time I enter a boss room. I have been killed by almost every RM at least ten times before I can start to figure out their pattern and can calmly approach them and eventually work the fight down to a science, as I'm sure most long-time players have.

Bosses like Wind and Crystal, on the other hand, have an element of chaos to their fights with either lots of projectiles or ones that move in nonsensical ways. The urgency I feel when first fighting the boss never leaves because you have to be constantly moving to avoid them, and with how quickly Wind can use one attack after the other, the freakout is inevitable. To avoid that, I never face him first and grab his weakness. I've just never taken the time to approach these guys calmly.

That and MM6 was generally pretty easy otherwise. Aside from having no quick select with such a large item selection.

Might as well post mine, all of these are without using RM weapons.

1: Ice man: Very precise jumps and dodges, the only reason he beats Elec Man is because you can cheese Elec pretty easily.

2: None of them, they're all pathetic, however If I had to pick one It would be quick man because he's the only one I can't beat without taking damage.

3: Hard man: Although he's pretty easy, I can sometimes stumble and get cornered to revive a fist in the face.

4: Drill man: Very hectic fight, your timing must be perfect.

5: Charge man: Although he somewhat has a pattern, his coal attack is fast and random.

6: Flame man: His fire blast can be hard to predict, he always gives me some trouble.

7: Slash man: Need I say more?

8: All of them are pretty easy but Grenade Man can catch me off guard sometimes.

9: Plug Man: Random, powerful, hard to avoid attacks? This guy has it all.

10: Chill man: His jumps always catch me off guard.

&B: Tengu Man: Fast, powerful, and always knocks me off the edge  :(

Welp, it's been a while, so i'm going to update my choices a bit (again, not using the weaknesses) :

Mega Man 1: Fire Man (REMATCH ONLY)
Elec Man got pretty easy by now, Ice Man isn't to bad either.
But the Fire Man Rematch is just mean.
Mostly because the timing to get out of the Tele is very tight.
Oh, and there are other robots as well, so you are already weakened, potentially dying later on.
DO IT ALL AGAIN

Mega Man 2: Quick Man
Random, hard to avoid projectiles, decent contact damage.
Need i say more?

Mega Man 3: Needle Man

Similar to Quick Man, but not as bad.
MM3's RM-Set is pretty easy overall (Shadow Man has a certain pattern, Hard Man is easy to dodge)
Needle Man is just annoying because of the needle spam. (Also, can i just say that MM3's boss-palette is pretty bland and boring?)

Mega Man 4: Bright Man
Meh, i don't like this guy.
Contace damage hurts and depends mostly on luck if he uses his stopper-move unless you skip it via charge shot.

Mega Man 5: Eh. Is there one?
All are easy, but i would go with Wave Man, mainly because of randomness.

Mega Man 6: Tomahawk Man
Again, not the hardest set of Robot-Masters.
I have some issues with the feathers, but that's it.

Mega Man 7: Freeze Man...not :P
Freeze Man got pretty easy to be honest.
Has a pattern that's not that hard to follow, so:

Mega Man 7: Turbo Man
Avoiding the Scorch Wheel tends to be quite difficult actually.
And the damage is quite high, so, guess that's an okay choice for MM7.

Mega Man 8: Search Man
Still the hardest of MM8's Buster only-RM's.
Again, a little bit of a wildcard as well

Mega Man 9: Plug Man
Still the same.

Mega Man 10: Commando Man
Yes, i am bad at Mega Man.
I have alot of issues with Commando Man, mainly because i don't get past him in time.

Mega Man & Bass: Pirate Man
I am not good at leading the mines, so yeah.

Since I've done my best to defeat everyone buster only and E-Tankless, I'm basing this strictly off of how difficult it is for me to take them down sans weakness weapons.

1 - Elec Man by miles, for obvious reasons. He's quick, moves around very unpredictably, and does mountains of damage with a single poke. I daresay he's the most challenging of all, even. Ice Man is up there as well since his Ice Slashers barely give you enough room to dodge and do as much as Elec Man's Thunder Beams.

2 - Wood Man. There's simply too much going on to focus on and his attacks do an overwhelming amount of damage really quickly.

3 - Tough choice between Needle, Shadow, and Spark Man of all people, but I choose Shadow Man. Whereas Spark Man is predictable and Needle Man, while fast, is lenient in giving you enough time to react to his attacks, Shadow Man is quick and completely unpredictable. If you preemptively jump high to dodge a slide and he tosses his Shadow Blades instead, or vice versa, you're almost guaranteed to take damage. And since he doesn't telegraph his attacks at all... yeah. He also does craploads of damage with each hit.

4 - Ring Man. For a guy with such a simple pattern, I flub him up a lot and get wrecked as a result.

5 - Crystal Man, because I can't dodge bouncing objects to save my life.

6 - Tomahawk Man. He's basically a bit of a downgraded Shadow Man.

7 - Slash Man because yeah.

8 - Search Man because woah.

K - I only played this game for the first time over this week, but Burner Man is definitely the toughest. I learned his movements pretty quickly, and I can dodge each of his attacks with ease... except for the bear trap/Wave Burner combo. He also does tons of damage.

9 - Plug Man is unpredictable and does a lot of damage.

10 - Commando Man because I am inept.

MM1: Elec Man by far. Even if you try the stun lock method, miss a shot or hit him while he's still invincible and you get a free Thunder Beam to the face. He also starts with a cheap shot if you were facing left when you climb up the ladder.
MM2: Quick Man. While he isn't exactly tough, the fight is fairly hectic, and even then he can just jump in front of you at the start of the fight and throw boomerangs on the second jump with no possible way around it.
MM3: Needle Man. While he is probably the closest thing to Metal Man in terms of AI, they made it so he can jump and/or fire at any time, making it much more difficult. No doubt this character was Inafking's revenge against the original Metal Man AI being too easy. Shadow Man is nowhere near as difficult, with Shadow it's all about positioning him in the middle of the room so you have time to see whether he will slide or throw a Shadow Blade (both of which are random events, his AI is literally jump, jump, blade/slide, jump).
MM4: Drill Man. Even his weakness does 3 damage (the same as a charged Mega Buster) instead of 4, not to mention the Dive Missiles bounce off his Drill Bombs, and they do not even home in on him when he is underground or otherwise invincible while digging. A close second would be Pharaoh Man as he is quite tricky when he is jumping around the place throwing the small Pharaoh Shots.
MM5: Crystal Man, but only at the start where he fires the four Crystal Eye shots.
MM6: Centaur Man. I have no idea how to predict when and where he is going to use the Centaur Flash, and he is a pain to jump over too. Not energy-tank-draining hard, just annoying.

Wily Wars:
MM1: Elec Man, again. Yes, they somehow managed to make Elec Man even more ridiculous by giving him Quick Man's original speed and letting him spam the Thunder Beam (while he can still only have one shot on screen and it's a slow projectile in this game, it's still too fast between shots that take off 10HP). Ironically, Quick Man's running speed in the Wily Wars isn't much faster than your own walking pace. While Elec Man's boss room has Guts Blocks to stand on which can provide some relief from being zapped, good luck trying to not die on the flat ground in the rematch in Wily 2.

MM2: Flash Man. No, I'm serious. It is practically impossible to do a buster-only perfect run as he spams the Time Stopper. Yes, he can stop time and shoot you, and them stop time immediately after and shoot you again! While you can get him to jump over and over by spamming buster shots (he jumps when you fire in this game, unlike the NES where he jumps when taking damage), he will eventually land on the ground and freeze you, and he will also happily turn around if you manage to jump over him, rather than going from one side of the room to the other as he used to. And just like Cut Man and Quick Man in this game, he only takes 1 damage from the buster too. Strangely, Doc Flash in Wily Wars follows the original around the room walking pattern of the original NES Flash Man. Maybe Capcom swapped the AI for MM2 Flash and Doc Flash...

MM3: It's a close one, but I'm thinking either Shadow Man or Hard Man. In the Wily Wars, you cannot slide under the Shadow Blades, nor can you stand at the edge of the screen to scroll off the Hard Knuckles. Every boss in the entire game also has the same invincibility period as the later games (e.g. MM5), while your shots are a lot slower and you cannot rapid fire. On the up side, Top Spin no longer drains random amounts of energy upon hitting something, and you don't get pushed back when hitting an enemy with it. Shadow Man's AI is now random, he can jump as many times as he wants in this game (Needle Man and Quick Man are the same), and he pauses before throwing Shadow Blades, which can put off your timing.

I don't find the Wily Tower Robot Masters (Genesis Unit) difficult at all. Buster Rod G dies to buster spam (the second battle is even easier), Mega Water S is incredibly easy, and Hyper Storm H is virtually a giant Dust Man with no invincibility during the air attacks, and while he shakes the ground upon landing, it doesn't have the Guts Man/Metall Daddy effect of freezing you in place.

Of course, with weaknesses, all of the bosses are much easier, probably with the exception of Fire Man, Drill Man, Dive Man and Tomahawk Man. No, I have no idea how to stop Fire Man from spamming the Fire Storm if I use the Ice Slasher instead of the buster, the wait and jump trick does not seem to work with Ice Slashers (on Wily Wars however, Fire Man is a piece of cake regardless of how you fight him).

Most annoying non-Robot Master boss? Metall Daddy. That hitbox!!!! I will take the Boobeam Trap, Wily Machine 2, Wily Machine 4, Doc Wood, Doc Quick, Power Piston, and Guts Man G's habit of smacking you into the ceiling any day over that thing.

Oh hey someone resurrected this.

1: FireMan. He gives you a false sense of security just standing there shooting, so you think you can just shoot straight at him without needing to jump often.
2: Even though this is the easiest one in the series (even on hard mode) I'm still going with WoodMan because those leaves have huge hit boxes.
3: ShadowMan easily, Top Spin will only hit him if it feels like it.
4: D r i l l M a n.
5: ChargeMan maybe? I haven't played it in a long time but I do remember wasting a few E-cans on him the first time I played it.
6: YamatoMan, no questions asked.
7: BurstMan, you have a 40% chance of escaping the bubble you're trapped in if you don't use the Junk Shield.
8: I haven't played all the way through 8 but I died like 6 times before I managed to beat TenguMan.
&Bass: I don't remember much of it.
9: Again I haven't played all the way through this but I would say Concrete is the toughest soley based on the fact that his damage is huge.
10: CommandoMan iirc, it's been awhile since I played this game.

These boss were based on buster only
Megaman 1-Elecman: He pattern can be countered but he has tendency of changing
Megaman 2-Quickman:His pattern messes up very easily and it's nearly a reaction battle
Megaman 3-Needleman:No need for a answer
Megaman 4-Ringman: Tbh I seem to have a easier time against Drillman, he doesn't keep me on my toes like Ringman does
Megaman 5-Chargeman: Loves to charge randomly
Megaman 6-Tomahawk man: Only difficult one in megaman 6 due to reaction based
Megaman 7-Slashman: Reaction based battle like tomahawk
Megaman 8-Aquaman: No Reason
MM and Bass-Burnerman: No Questions about it
Megaman 9 -Hornetman: Hornet Chaser
Megaman 10 Chillman on Normal - Loves to freeze after jumping over him
Strikeman on Hard - Balls are fast, and his special is almost impossible to avoid
