I dunno about that.  Looking at some of the screenshots, I'd say it's a fangame engine... game.  Needleman can't shoot his Needle Cannon while standing flat on the ground, for one thing.  For another, it would take a little bit of know-how to turn Shadow Blades into Metal Blades, especially considering they're only tossable in five directions.  Not to mention a bit more code editing to get Metalman, the Brink Cannon, and Grindman to appear correctly in-game.

It's either based in a fangame engine, or these are mock-up screenshots.

So much of this could be sprite modification, and while I know I'm wrong, I don't think making needleman shoot horizontally is all that difficult.

Nope, I'm using a Mega Man Day in the Limelight 2 source, for Game Maker 8. I removed every MM3 Robot Master, and it's stage, and starting from scratch.

Well, Day in the Limelight's engines do have some flaws.. But I can fix some of the physics little bugs. :p

Apologies for the bump, I'm announcing the project is NOT dead. It just was stopped being worked on for a short time due to alot of schoolwork and personal problems I've had.

The fangame itself will have a "4-master" demo release very soon. Two robot master stages are done, and two are being worked on. Oh, and here's a screenie of the current title screen (still a wip, but so far, so good).



Expect some more screenies. :D

Well, it does use the engine from Day in the Limelight 2 (credits to Riverroad), an old version (for Game Maker 8), not the latest one (for Game Maker 8.1 *bleh*). It won't be like Day in the Limelight 1 or 2.. Metal Man will be the only playable character, he will go against 8 new robot masters made by a new antagonist, there will be a few throwbacks of some old enemies from other Mega Man games (not just MM1-10, also others), and will have hidden bosses.

IMO it depends on what the plot is. Dentist sounds more unique than defender though.
