I've been playing Final Fantasy VII again for the last week.
I have to say that it loses polish for me every year.
It's one of very few games that I actually like
less as time goes on.
This is despite the fact that it was my very first RPG.
I'm not making a thread to talk about FFVII like I did with FFIX.
This is because:
- FFIX is my favorite.
- I don't have much to say about FFVII.
Fact of the matter is, I don't find FFVII half as interesting or compelling as FFIX.
Anywho, there are a lot of errors, bugs, and glitches in Final Fantasy VII.
However, I just learned of one yesterday.
It's called the Magic Defense Bug.
The Spirit stat governs a character's defense against Magic Attacks.
The player's overall Magic Defense was intended to be a sum of the character's Spirit stat and the MDef value of their armor, but due to a bug in the coding, the MDef value is not used and Spirit alone determines the character's Magic Defense.
In a nutshell, this bug prevents the Magic Defense stat of
any armor equipped from being added to a character's Spirit stat, effectively making the Magic Defense of
all armor
completely worthless.
Yeah...
So, if you find yourself playing FFVII, just remember:
MDef doesn't mean a single thing.
