Help & Editing / V3A Technical Issues
« on: December 23, 2012, 08:29:01 PM »
Hey, I downloaded V3A and am having two general problems.

1.) Every time I use Doomseeker and I select a server, it opens the launcher.
Then I have to open the game from the launcher and select the server from a very long list in the game itself.
Before, I just double clicked in Doomseeker and -BAM- I was there.

2.) V3A is in a window, and I can't make it entirely full screen.
Parts of the screen are eaten up by the top of the window, and the toolbar on the bottom.

MM8BDM Discussion / Music Lists
« on: November 30, 2012, 07:01:02 AM »
If you're anything like me, you've often wondered where to find the music codes for WADs like CSCM.

I can help with AMP:

AMP:

D_TTFTW = cs188 - BA... NANANA
D_RAVE = The Genesis Projection - At the end we talk in Italian

Track_B = Fighter X - Megaforce (The Afterlife Touch)
Track_1 = Fighter X - HyperGiant
Track_2 = Fighter X - Finsher 3000
Track_3 = Fighter X - FE Powered!
Track_4 = Fighter X - Sparking!
SOUNMUS = Robert Seaton - Megaman Returns - SoundMan Theme
STIMUS = DarkAura - MMX Sting Chameleon's theme 8-bit
MMRBOSS = Robert Seaton - Megaman Returns - Boss Theme
BATMAN = Batman - Return of the Joker (NES) - Boss Theme Music
FBZA2 = Daniel White (Danooct1) - Flying Battery Zone Act II 8-bit
CURELVL3 = Fighter X - Cure lvl. 3
NOWROCK = Fighter X - Now Rock
R07 = Fighter X - R07
TINKER = Fighter X - Fun In Tinker Town
FIL8BIT = Rockman 4MI - Pharaohman Stage (Actraiser - Fillmore)

If anyone has more in-depth music code lists, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to appreciate it.

Anything Goes / Eastermas

Happy Easter Cutstuff!

What's everyone doing?

As for me, I had a lunch with the family and plan to play videro gaymes for the rest of the day. ;)

Our community has always had a few people who cause problems and selfishly protract from everyone else's good time on MM8BDM.
But lately, the amount has been getting unmanageable.

I ran a server and had to ban three people in one day for trolling, just that day!
That's just the people I banned!
This doesn't count the numerous times I had to tell other people to stop.

I seem to be the only server host that cares about constant offenders such as Pikmin, who thinks he has free roam to troll because he made a mediocre classes mod, and Bikdark, who is such a jerk that he isn't even allowed on Cutstuff anymore.

To all server hosts, I say this:
For every people who logs on just to troll, there are at least 10-15 people who want to have a fun time and play this game.
The surest way for MM8BDM to die is to make the game so socially repugnant that people second-guess even logging in, and that is exactly what these people are doing.

I know that using people's names and trolling has become an epidemic over the last couple of months as well.
There is one surefire way to stop both of these problems.

Names on skulltag may lie, but ip addresses don't.
I host screw scramble, a fairly unpopular mode, and people go because the know they will not be bothered by trolls there.
I ban every troll. They have no place on my servers, and I have been thanked for this policy every day I've had clients for over a year now.
(The term 'troll' being used to describe anyone who intentionally offends others in a personal way, kicks others for no reason, loads teams down to one vs. many, cyberbullies, etc.)

I would ask that people like Messetsu and Human Destroyer do the same.
I don't mean to make it sound melodramatic, but it can be seen as your responsibility.

Turning a blind eye to regular trolls makes your servers, and the rest of MM8BDM as a whole, worse off.
It's in your best interest, and those of your clients, to give bans to ANYONE who feels that they can attack people online.
If we all worked together on this, we can make the whole experience more pleasurable, perhaps get some old people back, perhaps get current people to stay, and maybe even get some new people into this game.

MM8BDM Discussion / Hosting Needed
« on: November 02, 2011, 07:05:15 AM »
Hey there, Sean here.

Servers have been lacking quite a bit recently.
In fact, there was even a time tonight when there were no servers at all.
I kept things going with a duel server tonight, but that's only because I was able to tonight.

I implore anyone reading this: If you are able, go ahead and host a server when things aren't looking too busy. I know that not everyone can, but those with the ability should take initiative.

Anything Goes / Halloween
« on: October 28, 2011, 11:20:52 PM »
The Halloween festivities are upon us, and I was wondering what you were all doing and dressing up as.

I'm going to a party tonight dressed up as a woman with a blue dress, a packed bra, and make-up.
It's pretty disturbing.  ;)

I work on the actual Halloween day, though.

MM8BDM Discussion / Expanding the Library
« on: September 30, 2011, 04:21:26 AM »
This question is more about Vanilla MM8BDM than about the mods, so I believe it should go here.

Anywho, I've been talking about this for a while with people on other servers, and I wanted to know what you all thought.

MM8BDM is great, but the music list is quite limited, especially after so many months at the game. The music tracks from the I and X packs are very highly spoken of when they are included as .WADs.

My idea is this: Why not take the music files from the I and X packs and include them in the next version of MM8BDM (V2D, I presume)?

I realize the lack of a longer music library is a simple problem, but this would seemingly be a very simple task on the part of the programmers.

I'm eager to hear the thoughts of CMM, Ivory, and anyone else who worked/works on the game, but the opinions of the people of Cutstuff are important too.

General Gaming Discussion / Final Fantasy VII is Buggy
« on: September 19, 2011, 04:34:14 AM »
I've been playing Final Fantasy VII again for the last week.
I have to say that it loses polish for me every year.
It's one of very few games that I actually like less as time goes on.
This is despite the fact that it was my very first RPG.

I'm not making a thread to talk about FFVII like I did with FFIX.
This is because:
- FFIX is my favorite.
- I don't have much to say about FFVII.

Fact of the matter is, I don't find FFVII half as interesting or compelling as FFIX.

Anywho, there are a lot of errors, bugs, and glitches in Final Fantasy VII.
However, I just learned of one yesterday.
It's called the Magic Defense Bug.

The Spirit stat governs a character's defense against Magic Attacks.
The player's overall Magic Defense was intended to be a sum of the character's Spirit stat and the MDef value of their armor, but due to a bug in the coding, the MDef value is not used and Spirit alone determines the character's Magic Defense.

In a nutshell, this bug prevents the Magic Defense stat of any armor equipped from being added to a character's Spirit stat, effectively making the Magic Defense of all armor completely worthless.

Yeah...
So, if you find yourself playing FFVII, just remember:
MDef doesn't mean a single thing.

General Gaming Discussion / Final Fantasy IX
« on: August 17, 2011, 12:14:32 AM »
I decided to play it again last night.

For as long as it has been out, I found it to be my favorite.
Many elements from the previous Final Fantasy titles are included, as well as many cameos.

The music is great, and the battle system is wonderful.
The limit break system was actually kind of crappy though, imo.
Trances were induced via a bar, and it was very difficult to manipulate.
Also, by the end of the game, there wasn't a whole lot of use for them.

I always found the storyline to be exceptional, and I found the characters to be fully developed.

So, I'm really asking two things.

1.) What do you think of Final Fantasy IX?

The second question has to do with a challenge in the game.
The Excalibur II is a sword for Stiener that can be unlocked if the player makes it to almost the very end of the game in 12 hours.
This is a very difficult feat.
More importantly though, one cannot view cutscenes, get one time only items, and enjoy the plot when doing a speed run like this.

I never found this to be worth it, so I've never done it.
My final question is.

2.) Is it worth it to try for the Excalibur II?

Anything Goes / Forum Games
« on: August 09, 2011, 06:31:09 AM »
Posts in Forum Games don't count toward post counts.

Any reason for the change?
Last time I checked, posting on forum games is still posting on the forum.

The WWW board / Red Vs. Blue
« on: July 31, 2011, 08:14:49 AM »
This is regarding the long-running Halo-based Machinima series called Red Vs. Blue.

After a break, Season 9 is up and running.
For fans, check it out, it should be great.
For newcomers, definitely watch the previous seasons as well.
A lot of laughs will be had.

Mega Man Discussion / CAPCOM, Where's the Love?
« on: July 20, 2011, 08:06:35 AM »
Hey ya'll!

With the cancellation of both Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, it seems CAPCOM has become a harsh mistress for us Mega Man fans.
Remember how long the gap was between Mega Man 8 and Mega Man 9.
Further, there appear to be no plans for new Battle Network or X series games.

With all the attention SEGA gives Sonic, and all the attention Nintendo gives Mario, it seems strange that CAPCOM's (arguably) most recognizable franchise is neglected as much as it is.

Why do you think this is?
