Now the time has come for one legendy legend to recreate the other.

That's right, I'm getting in on the expansion pack shenanigans as well.  You can't say you didn't see it coming.  Yes, Korby--this is why I wanted to see your Door Stopper.

I will be color-coding the lists to make them easier to interpret, much in the way Cave Story is being done.
Things marked in green are finished.
Things marked in orange are being worked on.
Things with no mark have not been started/claimed.
Things marked in purple are optional.  As with Cave Story, try to work on other things first.

Eric, when making this game, chose to leave the sound files unprotected--any SFX needed can be found by downloading the game.

There is no deadline--partially because I doubt this Expansion Pack will receive much attention.

My first big question...what the heck is this? Some sort of expansion based on a fan game or, some robot masters you made?

Somehow I doubt some small fan game is going to receive much attention.

D'OH!  I knew I had forgotten something.  I'm being really stupid today.

Mega Man Rocks!, sometimes abbreviated to MMR, is a fanmade Mega Man game, created by EricRuthGames (http://www.ericruthgames.com/).  As far as I am aware, the Robot Masters involved are all created by him.  All this has been arranged with his permission.
...That's pretty much all there is to it.

I, too, first believed that an MMR expansion pack would fail at first, which is why I did not create it earlier.  But, after my Snowman received over 40 downloads--not to mention being singled out online and being asked to create a Policeman skin, my thoughts took another direction.  Call it hubris, call it arrogance, call it what you like.

In all due seriousness, I'd like to point out the "no deadline" part.  Take your time and do everything you do with the utmost quality.

I can't think of any skins to do at the moment (Maybe because I never made a skin), but if you guys need help with bots, I think I can help with that. Or do we neeed to do a bot and a skin ._. Anyway, good luck with the project i guess :p

LOL, can't believe I never thought of his appearance like that.

Good work so far, but you may want to rearrange his arms to that the busters are pointing downward, not upward.  Just looks more natural.

Bots and skins can be done separately; otherwise, I would've kept them together.  I can combine the skin and bot into one file.  Any submissions are appreciated, really!

Also, thanks for the good luck.  Considering the low post count, I think we're gonna need it.  :|

Why not make it block everything leaf shield doesn't, and only let certain wierd projectiles cause harm

No. Given time, I could probably think of a way to make it not a clone. For example, contacting someone could perpetually "taze" enemies, or you get higher defense and are given some kind of weapon to shoot whilst the shield is up(Perhaps something similar to a pistol.)

Go ahead and get started now--like I already said, I'll be merging all the files together myself, and if the sprites in question are unavailable--if my understanding of how Doom works is correct--it will default to Megaman.

BUMP.  No way in Hell am I letting this get buried.

I did some Repoman sprites while bored--because, as already mentioned, nobody likes Repoman, and he has to get done eventually--but, since I suck at walking animations, these are unlikely to be finished.  It's missing all side view and back/side view sprites, and also most of front/side.
I have a few concerns again, but nothing's going to change about his design unless you speak up.  Also, feel free to finish if you would rather do so yourself.

My main concern is more ways to determine being hurt from behind.  I'm thinking of adding the yellow bars there, too, but, again...
Another issue is his front-firing:  I wanted the look of the Claws detaching from him and shooting, but right now, it looks horrendous.  Leave them as empty barrels, or...?

I love the attention this has received so far, but...we need mappers!  :?

I think the only problem with this is sending it to you, do i need, say, mediafire and then send you a link? I'm such a n00b with the simplest of things, I swear :<

What you would want to do is, first, maybe put the bots together in the same file, then get an account at a Media Upload Site.  I, myself, use Mediafire.  You are welcome to try it as well.  Indeed, once done uploading, get the URL and link me over to it VIA PM.  Can't stress how important the PM part is.

Good work so far; the shooting looks good and so do the rotations.  I just have one question--and it actually looks better this way, no critique here--why'd you decide to have his claws open'n'close when he runs?

Also, don't feel bad, you had a good start. Hell, if it weren't for you, chances are I wouldn't have even done this 'cause I didn't want to sprite a walking animation for front/back.

Be warned, Chaos. Not everyone can make as quality maps as this expansion deserves. Don't become so desperate for progress that you accept anything that's given to you.

Isn't that what critique is for--making bad things better, if only a little bit?  It's likely that I'll have to change up some of the maps--which I may or may not be looking forward to doing--if nothing else, to add in the new weapons.

But seriously, look, Korby:  this expansion is practically dying already--hell, I requested someone make one of the weapons.  While it is true that I would normally want something done right, work on this is so unlikely that I'm willing to give anything tossed my way a chance.

I find it kind of silly that we're talking about quality when the actual game didn't even recycle the original engine. =P

I don't trust you, Galaxy, because I haven't known you for very long.  I had barely acknowledged your existence before you posted on my skin topic, saying you were a fan of MMR.

By the way, consider this a challenge.  Prove me wrong about you.  To speed you along, I've been ripping some of the game tiles.  All of them are to scale is in-game.  Some tiles have more than one "tile" to them--to show you what they look like chained together.  Crop as needed.  Others are simply not there at all.  The short answer to this is, animated tiles are a bitch with just a trusty printscreen.  If you need me to capture more tiles/enemies, just speak up.

The claws are proportionate with his other claws(Read: they're the same height), so I'm not making them smaller.

As true as that might be, not many other skins follow that logic. Gyro Man does, actually, with his propeller, but that's another story.

Plus, I tried it already, and I couldn't get it to look right.

Gentlemen...we need more corn tournaments mappers!

As aforementioned (In the above post T.T) , the only way I can think of to do this is by having the tilesets already available.  I decided to do Anchorman next.  Many of the water changes are not available, but--judging from my previous experiences and EricRuth's seemingly hatred for tedious sprite work, I bet all the others are just shifting the palette a bit.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!  I managed to snag an enemy onscreen--the Bubble Met.  He wasn't hostile--which made him much easier to photograph.  And since he only had one frame--and I thought he'd be a cute decoration--I thought "Why not?" So I remove the background from the enemy, and he's dealt in with the Anchorman tileset.

Come on, guys, quit slacking!  This is my third post in a row, and I haven't heard from any or you in a good while--PM or otherwise!

Ah, Repoman, you still make me want to punch Kirbies.  This Repoman tileset is missing the Wily Symbol--BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET THERE AGAIN.  It does contain two frames of another not-particularly-hostile enemy, though.  C'mon, fellas, we need mappers--for all I care, shout out which one to do next!

Oh, and a note to Blaze--Hope this isn't too much trouble, but I messed up on Anchorman's weapon.  It's Anchor Swing, not Anchor Toss.

Woah--Thought this expansion had lost all hope.  Was considering asking for a lock, in fact.

The tilesets for any Wily Stages have not been ripped yet, but I can go get them for you if you tell me which stages you think you'll need.

Remove Centaur Flash if your keeping Rolling Cutter, or visa-versa.
There should be no more than one completely overpowered weapon in maps, in my eyes.

And I'm still working on Police Man, CF.

I'm not quite sure what you mean.  If you mean mix'n'matching tiles from the preexisting Castle areas, then it wouldn't really be MMR.  However, if you simply mean a compilation of weapons, then it could work, but I think it'd be more suited for MM10's Castle (Weapons Archive) .

There's nothing bad about Rolling Cutter IMO, but I'd remove Knight Crush if he wants to keep both.

I see.  I had pretty much presumed that, as only MM1 had received 2 Wily stages...

Many of the weapons for this MMR Expansion have not been made.  We still need a volunteer for Fire Balloon, Repair Blast...and I haven't heard from our old volunteers in a long time.  I'd work on the layout, but not any weapon placement as of yet.


Whew!  Repairman's stage was a refresher.  Very simple stage, not much to it.  The wheels are recolors of that of Yamatoman's, look there if you need those.  Overall, just a pretty simple stage.  The only hard thing may be the BG.

1- GFX needs to be done entirely by someone that's not me.
2- Don't ask for OMGWTF coding
3- Tell me how they work in game and stuff, like damage and colors, etc.

Well, I'm kind of tired tonight, so I think I'll only give its desired effect for now.  Take up the challenge for more information.  Decline, oh well.  Maybe I'll find someone else.

I've decided to ask you to do the Fire Balloon.  Unfortunately, I can't find a video that shows its abilities well enough, so it's up to me to describe it.

When one shoots a Fire Balloon, it makes a red-and-orange balloon appear in front of the firer.  Said balloon travels upward and forward--forward being the direction it was shot in--until it runs into either a wall or a person.  At this point, it breaks open, releasing 7-9 tiny balls of molten rock.  These, in turn, fall almost straight down, spreading out over what appears to be a predetermined area.  The balls of fire dissipate upon hitting a wall, floor, or person.
I know it's possible for a projectile to spawn other projectiles (Ashley's Thunder Wool) , so, are you willing?

Speaking of Fireman,His tiles are done, with a couple exceptions (http://www.mediafire.com/?1qworl0d0ryw4mw).  But the Fire Balloon description is the important part.

1- There are 2 Bridges. One is the Brisge Actor, the other is using Line Identification 3D Mid texture
2- Make dummy sector and use transfer heights, then use ACS to do the low gravity effect

There was a tutorial from Messatsu explaining the water effect in a map. Search it on the forums.

For bridges, First see how to make fences (Fire man as example). Then you're gonna know what to do.

CHAOZ is busy, so wait until he rips the wily tiles (Difficult because of the absence of passwords in the wily castle. Blame on Wily)

I've actually finished ripping for all the other stages, so all I have left to do is Wily.  It'll take a while, though.  For one, I'm stuck using my DERP-puter again.

After an unfortunate crash for our barely-working laptop, it is only capable of using an unprotected internet browser.  It cannot run any other programs, and it's laden with viruses.

Either way, I managed to get through a Wily Stage (http://www.mediafire.com/?ln788d0bxh7f4al).  Note that this only has stage 1, which has the flashing modules seen in Fire-Man's stage.  All the files were accidentally saved in BMP--sorry, RTV!  Hope it's not too much trouble.

As usual, if ya need anything else, go ahead and ask.

This might sound stupid but couldn't you take screenshots from a Let's Play on YouTube (assuming it's in HD)? That way you won't have to keep dying at the hands of Dr. Wily.

It would work if the viewing boxes for YouTube videos were the same size as the playing screen for MMR.  Since it isn't, it won't.

RISE, MY TOPIC, AND LIVE ONCE MORE!

Despite me losing most of Wily Stage 2's tiles to some freak saving accident, I've (for the most part) finished all of Mega Man Rocks!'s tilesets.  I even went back and got Repoman's Wily Symbol (That save state works wonders) .  The download below is a complete pack of tiles--and I'll be rereleasing it every time it needs an update.

I feel that I am nearing the end of my capabilities to help along this expansion.  Other than find any more tiles (Particularly enemies and animated ones) , helping with skins, and making bots, there's not much else I can do.  So, how are your assignments coming along?  Kind of forgot, huh?

Also, on a note to RTV, whose service is greatly appreciated, note that Wily Stage 1 uses Fireman's flashing modules, and Stage 3 uses the same water color as Anchorman.

What irony I was planning to make a Expansion for a bunch of Megaman fangames. And it would have a real campaign (With it's own kind of MAP01,UNKNOWN,CREDMAP).
