What do you think about Korby?

After WheelieCarbonate's recent ban, I decided to talk to him about it. He said that he was intentionally trying to get himself banned because of the perceived failings of the CutStuff community, and because of the belief that Korby had a personal vendetta against him.

And so, here we are. What do you think about Korby? Specifically, do you think he's doing a good job of moderating the forums? Please note that I'm not trying to stir up drama here, just trying to figure out if there's a genuine problem here or if Swuss was just butthurt.

Korby's fine.  The more I hear about this Swiss guy the more bad news he seems, Korby's not at fault in this and he really shouldn't be seen as if he is whatsoever.

First I've ever heard of this, sounds like butthurt. If you guys have any problems with the staff here, you should contact me or Ivory via PM, though I would hope this is obvious.

It would be. I just wanted to try and see if it really was just butthurt or not. Here's my experiences with Korby on Skype, for a different perspective:

You see Balrog, you and Swiss have an amazing history of posting intolerable porn numerous times when we told you not to do so, among other things. The kicks were justified and you're just being butthurt over this.

For Wheelie*, one of the kicks was over posting a Board Game Online link. For Balrog, one of the kicks was over asking if something was a Lucky Star Photoshop. I question what it's supposed to be that he addresses, but.. Eh. Sure, other kicks likely are justified, but those two have little reason behind them.

So, not porn. Just an innocent image macro that I asked an innocent question about.

Looking back, yes, the other kick was justified. The only reasons I mentioned it was for continuity with Swiss' conversation and because of the subsequent conversation with Korby, in which he seemingly expressed an opinion that I was an idiot and implied that he would kick me if I was ever invited to the main chat again.

Exactly. For my part, I'm trying to get people to give their experiences.

EDIT: Actually, why don't we hear Korby's end of this? Might clear this up faster.

While I appreciate the comments, I'm not 100% innocent in this.

for the league chat kick, I could have sworn "[4/24/2013 8:32:03 PM] *** Balrog has changed the conversation picture. ***" was to something pornographic, but I can't really find evidence to show otherwise. In fact, the only evidence I found seems to go against what I think. I just don't think I said "no" to your question[even though it was the correct answer.]

Not going to lie, I did used to tend to plot to kick people on Skype, so Swiss isn't entirely wrong about that.

He is, however, wrong about me kicking everyone I dislike. While I won't name names on the forums to prevent possible problems, I could name quite a few people in many chats who exist despite me not reveling in their presence.

I do not, however, recall implying that you were an idiot. Would you mind showing me where I did that?
In addition, for a thread that's centered around evaluating my forum moderation, a lot of this seems to be about Skype.

Second one was completely understandable, I don't quite understand the first one.


Edit: Despite a few not-really-justifiable kicks I think Korby is a pretty cool dude most of the time. He wasn't even kicking people for spamming Freeman's chat with random letters of the alphabet.

Okay, so...

This topic is asking if we think Korby is doing a good job at moderating the forums. I would say yes. He does a good job at patrolling and keeping things in order, and I can't think of any times offhand that he has acted out of line.

Skype chats are a completely different entity, though, and shouldn't really have any impact on the forum. Korby's mannerisms are a bit different on skype, and sometimes I think he can act a little bit rude or unfriendly possibly due to grudges or something, but I haven't seen any of that affect his forum duties. And as a close friend, I can tell you that, all things considered, Korby means well. He's a good person.

I could speak about his modding behaviors in various skype chats, but I know very little about those chats and their rules/customs, and they have no relevance to his forum modding as far as I can tell.

It wasn't. I distinctly remember that I changed it to a crop of the image that was linked. Said crop is both my current Steam profile picture and the picture for the CutStuff LoL group I started to try and get everyone on everyone's friends list.

So, you're saying that Korby has a short fuse in Skype chats but otherwise is quite nice? That lines up well with what's been posted here. It's a bit like how I'm a jokester in forum games, in-game chat, and (yes) Skype chat but quickly straighten up and fly right when it becomes necessary. (For examples, see the last few drama-laden threads I've had a stake in.)

I'd say that this thread is running its course. I'd recommend leaving it open at least until Monday afternoon to make sure everyone sees it, but if a "smoking gun" doesn't appear in that time I don't see the point of continuing. (Don't lock it right now, though.)
