I set the main map outside and put a lot more oil in it, which is ANNOYING because you have to set each block it's own "thing". I doubt it will be as good as yours, I am in no way a good mapmaker.

Oh how I loved figuring out the flameman oil for my own map that uses it. Took 45 minutes or so to get everything working. My biggest draw back was not realizing until I checked the global acs that it has to be script 1 and 2.

Haha, mine is going well, it's just a sector action 3 and custom things right? Once you've got one working floor it's all easy. Might take some screenies of my maps.

im thinking about doing bombman, metal man, i was doing needleman, maybe cossack(deciding), napalmman, and centaur man, i might do shadowman if skye doesnt do it, we were thinking about doing it together anyways

i was thinking about attempting knight man, but the one already has taken all my ideas already

Here's a smart tip:  Take one map and work on it.  Don't start calling 50 maps, because then you'll feel rushed and end up half-assing most of them.  Pick one map, and fine tune it until it is good.

I Think Dive Man Is A Little low on Detail, but other than that thumbs up. Yes I Am Aware You Will Eat Me Now  :lol:

I'm trying to get it to rain outside.  I've got a weather generator and everything, but the rain will still only fall at the same speed as snow no matter what I do.

That was just a line def.  Just having linedefs everywhere is absolutely ugly, so a weather generator similar to the one that produces snow in Cossack's stage is needed.

i would put screen shots, but what do i do after i paste them in word? i wont let me save them as a pic so i can upload to tiny pic :S

Word is for WORD editing. Writing. You don't save pictures in word.

And I still need your maps. I'm not sure if I've actually taken over the project or not since Vyse keeps talking about PM'ing Skye, but me and Skye agreed that I needed the maps because I was going to film a trailer for them.

i thought'd it would be cool if in single player mode, if you beat it, you unlocked these stages, adds mor replayablility, maybe make the enemies harder, kinda like your unlocking a new version . i wish

I'd rather see a mini-expansion featuring those two levels and their weapons.

Although slowing time might be a lot more difficult in skulltag than stopping it.

You could try making it so that Time Man's weapon shoots two clock hands forward (kinda like Gyro Man's weapon) which causes people to freeze if they touch them (kinda like Spark Man's weapon).

Anyway, expect Elecman's map to be released on Sunday. I'm only making it for the pack to make a massive change in quality. This will increase my already enormous 300 mile long e-peen. :P

i had a few question
i want to make skullman's stage a bit differently
i want to use the skulbn9f texture to make a bridge
but the blacks parts to be see through and you can shoot through them, is that  possible?
2, is there a way to move ceiling and floor textures around?
and lastly, how do you add more than one texture to a wall?

I don't know about bridges.
You can, I think, but it doesn't work in Software mode, so don't try it.
Well draw a sector and then the wall asscociated with it will be a different linedef so you can edit that. But you can't add a texture above a texture, only horizontally.

I don't know about bridges.
You can, I think, but it doesn't work in Software mode, so don't try it.
Well draw a sector and then the wall asscociated with it will be a different linedef so you can edit that. But you can't add a texture above a texture, only horizontally.
well my plan was to make an area with bone like bridges like in the game
so that wont work?

Wanna hear a cool story? I got the inspiration for this map from so many places.

For example, the main layout (a hub, with 4 branches) came from Banjo-Kazooie's Bubblegloop Swamp level. The teleporter "mainframe" idea as well as the secret room and special teleporter came from World at War's Der Riese Nazi Zombie level.

Seriously.

I think I even got some inspiration from Messatsu's Cutman map in there somewhere.

If by pallettes you mean tilesets, yes you can use ones from other stages. As long as the main theme is still the robot you chose, and the subtheme is the other stages... kinda.

If you can make custom content, yes you can put it in your maps.
Gravity Man uses a few custom tiles.

No, Korby has a valid point.  Symmetry is boring as Hell.  The best maps are asymmetrical, like Knight Man, Charge Man, Gravity Man, Mr. X's Fortress, and so on.

Certainly don't disagree with that; those maps are some of my favorites.  The reason for the symmetry is that the original map was symmetrical so I thought I'd preserve that aspect of it.  Of course of the overwhelming feeling is that this should change I may go back and have another look at this......while cursing all of you of course  :mrgreen:

You know how the sky was blue the first time you went through the stage in MM3? Well why not differentiate the map by using that background instead?

Well Bomb Man is pretty much done save for play testing and some tweaking.  Ring Man same thing.  I'm going to take a stab at Ice Man.  I've figured out the water and I have an idea I want to play with.  It's not going to be symmetrical this time.

I don't think I'm going to do the twin areas that CMM used in the original map though but who knows.

Isn't that the same layout for that map you used to quickly show off how asymmetry was beneficial?

Anyway, I haven't posted in this topic yet so I must say I'm excited about double the number of maps!  And for the music, does using the Anniversary Collection music mean you're using the Mega Man Arranged music?

I've always wanted to hear this music in game.

Oh and if you need tilesets for any new stages (Wily stages), let me know!  I can get those done fast.

Yes, those are the ones. Complete Works was reused as Power Battles & Fighters music so you might recognize some of them. Fan mixes are used for ones without officials, for example Top Man and Flash Man.

Ice Man is pretty close to done save for some tweaking.  Gonna go back to Cossack though since I'm now discovering what a horrible job I did in lining up the textures in that map.  /facepalm.

Also the current music list is around 45 strong I believe.

I believe Power Stone in that game had the player shoot a giant stone hand forwards that disappeared after a certain distance.

There were PLENTY of other weapons that were changed in the game other than those.

Power Stone was a ground-bound giant hand made of rocks.

Atomic Fire worked like how Heat Man uses it. So on and so forth.

Anyway, I'll likely be doing Pharaoh Wave (like Solar Man's weapon, but doesn't fire the immediate projectile), Centaur Arrow (and possibly shield) and Power Stone (hand version).

*Slash Claw: Nothing changed.
*Freeze Cracker: Same.
*Scorch Whell: Same.
*Thunder Strike: Only cosmetic changes.
*Noise Crusher: Same.
*Junk Shield: Only three junk blocks spins slowly around you. Each one can only land two or three hits.
*Mega/Proto/Forte Buster: All are chargeable, like Mega Buster in classic series. But each have a cosmetic difference and apparently one is strong or faster than the other.

I don't really agree with the changing of the weapons. I think the weapons are fine, but the maps could be "upgraded". However, I am going to see if these maps really are improvements.

All I see with the modified weapons is clones of other weapons and removes skill elements from them.

Feel free to change the weapons but please keep it in a separate pack and make it optional.

The maps aren't improvements. None of us are Mike... we want to change the name to "remixed" but Skye doesn't want it changed.

Also, not offending CutmanMike or anything, but if you think all the maps in the official game are absolute gems... They aren't. The Official game has it's fair share of good maps and bad map. The pack is plagued with high amounts of symmetrical maps. But then, with the exception of a few maps, He did all the maps on his own.

So what am I getting at? Don't drag yourself down just because they aren't "CutmanMike level" He's a good mapper, but he's certainly not the best. And I know he would agree with me.

There is the possibility to "upgrade" the official maps, as the official maps are in no way perfect. While there are many variables to the choices of some the maps, gimmicks, texture availability and so forth. Playability and enjoyability are the most important aspects. No one wants to play a bland map. No one wants to play on a bad layout. With the exception of DTD, everyone else involved in this project are new to Mapping and Doom modding in general. It only makes sense that you would feel your maps aren't up to par. You haven't had the time to develop your mapping skills, your judgment on good layout and so on. Don't let it get you down, no one gets better without practice. And I can tell you, my first maps sucked. But I just kept at it, and eventually, I'm what you see here today. An expert mapper, I've been mapping for well over 6 years now at least.

What I'm trying to get across is keep with this project, and don't let anyone's skills get you down, keep practicing, keep at it, you'll grow in time. Just don't expect to pick up the trade in a few months.

*Slash Claw: Range is much, much shorter.
*Super Arm: Same as in Power Battles, but has a very short range.
*Air Shooter: Same behavior as in Megaman 2, however it goes twice farther and is only shot one at a time instead of three.
*Quick boomerang: Works much like Megaman 3's shadow blade, but not as fast. Stops in midair for less than half a second and tries to come back to you in a straight line. If you touch it during its come back, you regain the ammo you spent for that shot.
*Pharaoh Wave: Kinda like Solar Man's weapon, when it launches those two waves.
*Gemini Laser: Same aspect as Power Battle, but cuts through the enemy.
*Napalm Bomb: Same as Power Battle.

*Gospel: He shoots an energy blast out his mouth when you shoot. Charged shots makes him ram into the enemy.
*Rush: Works as Rush Coil when you jump on him. If you shoot a Charged Shot, he'll turn into a Rush Jet and ram into the enemy.
*Beat: Gives temporary invulnerability

Mapping has never, EVER been my forte. I live in a world of numbers and funny looking words, coding is what I enjoy the most. I think some maps I made are awesome but there's always room for improvement. Textures held me down a lot though. Heck if you can make a better Ring Man or Centaur Man map using their textures I might even have to "borrow" the layouts  ;)

I am finishing right now Mega Man 1 Dr Wily 1, but i don't think i can finish wily 5 before the deadline. just move it a few months. We really don't want an unfinished project.

EDIT: issues with imageshack... Now i can't see all the copshowguy's rips. Cop, please do something, or i don't think i can do Mega man 5 Dr wily fortress :/

Really, as this is in a crisis, I'd share with you all the idea to stop this project and release the maps that were done on CSCM map pack, to avoid confusion.

As seeing there are no one willing to map for this and interest has been lost, that's the only sure way to the maps winding up somewhere and being used by servers.

Include it onto the CSCM pack is the best option (If you have no objection and set different codes for the maps rather than the CSCM code). Making another pack will make it with the time a tower of junk.

Dead? Eh, not really.  Rolled everything into the CSCM pack and released it as one pk3.  If you still wanted to make Woodman it would get released as bugs get fixed and new maps are added, but no problem if ya don't.
