OK, xCFx, what the heck is this.
This is a mod that converts Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch to play similar to games of the MOBA (or "DotaLike") genre. It introduces new maps and mechanics to the game, such as money, towers, minion waves, and other staples of the genre while attempting to keep some of the rapid pace of the core game.
tl;dr: Awesomenauts/League of Legends/Smite/Monday Night Combat/etc meets MM8BDM.
Wait, you're seriously doing this?
I've wanted to do this for a while, but I haven't been able to gather the motivation to complete anything for it. Now that I've actually sat down and hammered out a test map for the expansion, as well as taking a look at some of the mechanics that will make this endeavor possible, hopefully I'll be able to make more process.
Will this be compatible with-
No. No it will not.
Because Under Siege is so radically different from vanilla MM8BDM, the mod is a total conversion of Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch. By that I mean I'm gutting MM8BDM.pk3 and replacing all the data with my own material. It won't be compatible with anything else on this site unless something is specifically made to work with it.
Sounds cool! When's it coming out?
...The only thing I have done is the layout of a single map that probably won't even make it to the final version. I don't even have any of the props or anything coded. I need your help in order to complete this thing, and to help me keep myself from getting lazy I will be doing work from time to time on this, so hopefully.
So how can I help?
Below is a list of various parts of the mod that I'll need help with. Almost anything you do will be appreciated, whether it be sprite-work, or coding, or mapping, or pretty much anything else. I don't really care whether or not you claim things, though you can if you want to.

Under Siege Setup
(click to show/hide)
Weapons + Skills
Each character starts the game with some combination of weapons and skills. Weapons aren't limited by mana or any other character resources, but may use ammo clips, which need to be reloaded once emptied. Skills, on the other hand, frequently require Mana to use and generally have longer cooldowns between uses, but deal more overall damage or have special effects. Characters can have any number of weapons and skills as long as the total number equals 4 (3 Weapons + 1 Skill, 2 Weapons + 2 Skills, 1 Weapons + 3 Skills)
Leveling Up
As you fight, you gain experience for each enemy that dies within a certain range of you. Every time you level up, you are given some combination of Bronze, Silver, and Gold Shards. These are used to purchase upgrades in the shop (details below). You gain a Bronze Shard at every level, a Silver Shard at every second level, and a Gold Shard at every sixth level. Your level caps out at 24, though whether or not you reach this cap depends on how long the game drags on.
Skill Mods
Skill Mods can be purchased at the base with Bronze Shards. Each character has a Skill Mod for each weapon and each skill they have (in case you're trying to count that out, that equals 4 upgrades total), one of which is referred to as the Ultimate Mod (details below). Each of these Skill Mods has 3 ranks, each of which must be purchased in succession. To purchase a Skill Mod, it costs 1 Bronze Shard for the first rank, 2 Bronze Shards for the second rank, and 3 Bronze Shards for the third. (That's a total of 6 Bronze Shards to max out a Skill Mod.)
Special Mods
Special Mods can be purchased at the base with Silver Shards. Every map has four Special Mods: one for offense, one for defense, one for utility, and one for mobility. 1 Silver Shard will get you the basic version of the mod, which is essentially an entry-level boost that can give you a slight edge. If you like the upgrade, you can then spend another 2 Silver Shards to obtain the full mod, which provides all of the original's benefits.
Ultimate Mods
One of each character's Skill Mods is designated as an Ultimate Mod. This is a massive boon that changes some aspect of how the character is played, essentially finishing the character. The Ultimate Mod is bought the same way as a normal skill mod, except that the Ultimate Mod also requires one Gold Shard as part of its cost. These mods are a big help, so get them when you can!
Items
Items are small, temporary upgrades that can be purchased at the shops with Money, which can be obtained by killing enemies. These come in two different varieties: Consumables and Beacons, each of which provide their own little bonuses.
Consumables
Consumables grant the user a personal bonus, and activate instantly upon use. You can hold up to 3 of any consumable in your inventory at once. 4 types of Consumable are available on each map.
Beacons
Beacons are dropped on the ground to give bonuses or penalties to anyone in their radius. You can hold up to 3 beacons in your inventory, but only one kind at a time; buying a second type of Beacon automatically sells all other beacons in your inventory. 4 types of Beacon are available on each map.
Character Submission Guidelines
1.)
You can't submit an author avatar.
Those characters have their own mod.
2.) I reserve full rights to accept and deny character submissions. Anyone who's submitted a character to CSCC knows how this works.
3.) If we have too many of a specific type of character, a waitlist will be created. Characters on the waitlist will be accepted as other types of characters are added.
4.) Put some effort into your character! If you make something really lazy and generic, it will be rejected.
5.) Follow the formatting, and make sure you have all the information planned. If you're missing things, don't expect me to help you fill them in nearly as much as I do with CSCC.
6.) The word of the day is "Kiss": Keep It Simple, Stupid! Don't give your character fifty different modes just for the sake of adding more stuff; less is more, as the saying goes.
7.) Try to keep in mind a specific playstyle when building your character. If you need an example, Alphonse's entire moveset is based around the concept of trying to hold his target in a specific range while poking them with his revolvers.
8.) Make sure all of your upgrades have something interesting to them that makes people want to upgrade them. While flat values are easy to make, you want to make the player say "hey, I kind of want that."
9.) It has to be
your
character. Don't submit copyrighted characters.
I didn't think I'd actually have to write this down. Thanks, YD. :/

Character Submission Idea 01:
(click to show/hide)
Character Full Name
Dictator Bison BirdBot
In Game Name
Dictator BirdBot
Pointless BackStory
After having his home world ,'AirStuff', destroyed by the land known as CutStuff, he finally decided to look for a new home. however, he is still looking. oh, and he's evil.
Roles
Mixed, Hybrid, Duelist, Speedster
Passive Ability
- Ammunition Relation
If Alphonse is on the team, He'll be generous enough to lend a few Bullets to Dictator BirdBot. Meaning, DB has moar ammo
Weapon Data 01
- Axe Pistols
Dictator Birdbots Signature Twin Pistols. The pistols have an axe blade at the near end of the barrel. Mainly used for Ranged attack, these handy Badboy's can also be used at close range. When an enemy is close enough to DB, instead of shooting, he will actually start slashing with the axes quickly in to an 'X' shape, making it into a two hit combo. When At long range, Dictator pulls both of the triggers simultaneously, and can shoot up to Twelve shots until the need to reload.
Skill - Bullet Barrage
Dictator Spreads out his arms, and pulls off a double Lariat, spinning around. However, moving around wil be quite difficult whilst you are spinning. so watch out! But, while DB is spinning around, he fires off Bullets slowly, this goes on until he runs out of ammo and needs to reload. However, DB becomes dizzy and is Stunned and Vulnerable after doing the skill.
Weapon Data 02
- 'Colonel Killers' (Lightning Gauntlets)
Dictator BirdBot created two gauntlets that could potentially kill Colonel ServBot. However, He hasn't tested them out yet, So now would be a good try! But, these things don't power them selves y'know. They feed off of the energy of near by beings, and converts it into pure Bolt 'o' Lightning In other words, It takes a small number of Health from nearby anybody, and shoots it out and hurts enemies(So in other words, Take Lives by Taking Life). However, sadly, If there aren't any team-mates/ enemies around, It will suck the life right out of DB in order to shoot out lightning. However, The more health you take from nearby things, the more damage you do. So if you are surrounded by teammates, you'll be lucky and possibly deal a good chunk of damage towards the enemies.
Skill - Lightning Shuffle
Sometimes, In life, you just gotta deal the cards right. however, when you do, there can be both consequences and rewards. And this portrays that perfectly. By gathering up enough energy, Dictator jumps into the air, and Four pillars of Lightning surround him, and spin around him, dealing large amounts of damage. However, DB is both vulnerable and Disabled while pulling off this trick. andit also drains his health slowly. So watch out now, y'hear? The Skill will wear off either when Dictator is at 25% health, or in a matter of 30 seconds.
Skill Mods
Finishing Touches
- After completing the Bullet Barrage move, DB feels that the job is undone, and locks on to enemies and dashes and slices away with his axe Pistol. However, Enemies can only be damaged once, and DB moves on to a new target. if there aren't any new targets available, the skill has been finished.
Helping Hands
- Finally, DB becomes less insane and tones down the life taken from team members (and himself!), and doubles it for enemies.
Dancing Thunder
- When the Lightning Shuffle skill is performed, DB also summons two more Pillars of Lightning that will slowly stalk enemies. When the skill is finished, any damage done by the two new pillars is converted in to health and handed over to DB
Emerald Armour
<Ultimate Mod>
- DB has now obtained a new set of armour, and now dons a Green Colour. Not too Shmexy in my opinion
Rank 1: Third Strike - This adds a new hit to DB's two hit combo, which Dictator will slash downwards vertically with both Axe Pistols, knocking the enemiy backwards.
Rank 2: Common Sense - Whilst using the Bullet Barrage skill it is easier to control movement and afterwards, DB can recover quicker.
Rank 3: Thieving Thunder - When you attack an enemy with the 'Colonel Killers', you gain a small portion of their health. However, if teammates are nearby, They will all get the health and you will have none of it. NONE.
So, is this cool to you all?
I have like another Idea.
