Finally found a way to run Rockman Strategy!
« on: February 05, 2018, 04:09:58 AM »
I am making this post because a lot of people (if not everyone) is having problems when trying to play the game Rockman Strategy, and I hope that this post will bring back hope to the people who really wanted to play it.

Now, if you don’t know about this game, I don’t blame you, it is a REALLY obscure game, but you can find some information about it here:
http://themechanicalmaniacs.com/articles/RMSLG.php

It is basically an old Chinese PC game made around 2001, supposedly compatible with Windows 98 / 2000 / Millennium, and though any of my attempts to make it run on any of these OS didn’t work at all, I have found a way to play the game.

Following this steps should let you play it:
1-   Format a PC / Make a virtual box and install Windows XP Service pack 3 (If you don’t know how, just search for a tutorial).
2-   Insert / Mount Rockman Strategy CD1.
3-   Install.
4-   Insert Rockman Strategy CD2.
5-   Right-click the game’s shortcut and select Properties
6-   Go to the Compatibility tab.

7-   Activate compatibility mode and select Windows 98 / ME.

8-   Run the game. (After the logo screen ends just click “Don’t send” and the game should open).

Notes:
-Remember to insert Rockman Strategy CD2 each time you start up, it MUST be inserted in order to play the game.
- If the mouse sensibility is ultra-high, so much that renders the game unplayable, just click "entry" and uncheck "mouse integration" on the virtual machine after starting the game.

- Though it only seems to translate cutscenes, you can download an unfinished English patch here: https://sprites-inc.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=781&pid=30686.
- The Mechanical Maniacs website says that the battle against Capricorn is unbeatable, now I don't know if it is true or not, but here is a save file to skip his battle: http://themechanicalmaniacs.com/downloads/RMSLG.zip.

If you do not know where to find a link to this game, I've made one video containing it on my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/yukinomfallen

Hope this helps a lot of people!
