I've scoured through the projects forum plenty of times, and not once have I seen an expansion for this game.

So, I suppose I'll start one! Whoo!

Questions & Answers:
Q: Will you need help with this expansion?

A: Help in any way possible would be greatly appreciated.

A: Not sure. I'm always open to suggestions.

Oh yes, there IS a stage in Rockman and Forte 2 for Compassman, no weapon, however.

EDIT: The weapons in Rockman and Forte 2 are different depending on the character you choose I have made a double-jumping Bass!

He hasn't started the stage, and I don't believe he's ready map-wise to work on one of the maps.

If I played MMB2 more, I'd make a map for it, but I don't know anything past Rockman Shadow having Burner Man's theme.

If so, looks like we only need some coders, mappers, and maybe a good texture artist. *hopes Nemz sees this*

Anyway, what would an expansion be without... items!

Weapon Charge: This refills all of your weapons. Make this hard to get.

Shock Guard?: Makes you invulnerable to spikes and instant death hazards. One use only. Perhaps give it a thirty second grace period?

Reggae: Drops a random item. (perhaps we should remove it)

And, if all the skins are finished, I basically can't help. I can't code or make a good map for the life of me.

And, we might also need someone for the music...

Just letting you know, I'm working on shock guard for mega man forever expansion, so that's gonna get done soon. What you can do for reggae, is make it a replacement for eddie like classes does. (Making rush coil / jet, treble boost)

I'd say more so just make him his own thing but have him give the possibility for all the assists and health and weapon energy. Along with those, full health and weapon recharges. It was my idea for Rush Search for the MM7 Expansion but that got shot down >.>

So...

Weapons for both Megaman and Bass versions
Energy Balancer (possibly)
Weapon Charger? - fully(?) recharges all weapons in your inventory (Does this include Health?)
Shock Guard? - Not sure if this is possible
Perhaps we should include the Item present?

Shock guard is perfectly possible. I know exactly how to make it work hopefully. What I meant about reggae was, when Bass picks up rush coil or rush jet (forget which) he gets treble boost. So just make bass get reggae when he picks up eddie.

For Weapon Charger, it only does weapons.

Also Lego, if you wouldn't mind, could you please inform me which skins are done?

EDIT: No damage, Gummy. Should work just like it is in the game, or MM9. I don't really know how it works in this game.

This is Doppler Attack, it replaces Noise Crush for testing purposes, and I was not planning on putting in a Bass class, those HUDs mark the fact that it is Bass' version of that weapon

If you want to include it as an easter egg of sorts, fine. Just focus on the actual weapons first.

I don't think it's such a good idea.

First of all, I actually use Noise Crush's bouncing in battle, so it returning to me is weird.

Second of all, I'm actually decent at catching it to charge, and so are a lot of people, so this seems kind of pointless.

Of course, Noise Crush is incredibly easy to rebound if you have Opengl.

Step 1: Aim down. Step 2: Jump. Step 3: Shoot.

Insta-80 damage weapon at your disposal.

Now looking for experienced mappers! None of the stages have been claimed, so we have a bit of a problem...

The easiest to do would be Grey Devil's stage, considering it's a city. You'd probably only have to make small to medium sized.

Hardest would be Aircon Man's because it's a vertical level. *shudders*

Most of the textures are recycled from MM&B. Or MM8, I forgot. Plus, all the music from the game is from MM&B, just remixed. I.E.: Aircon=Cold

If you need inspiration, perhaps looking at some youtube videos of the game will help.

I played and beat it. Its fun untill you realize playing with Bass is a BAD idea.

TimeBomb is almost done, that makes 1 left, but...we should not recycle everything from Megaman and Bass. It would be better if we made custom tiles and themes for these masters instead of just ripping off the Megaman and Bass expansion.

Yes, I'm moving this week so things are rather hectic.  When I get more time I'll finish up the special request from Blaze which is already in progress.  Myroc also previously asked me to make new tilesets to replace the old ones currently being used in the powered up pak.  Your request is in line after that.  Also keep in mind that all of this of course has to be done in my free time and my work schedule (I freelance) looks to be significantly busier in the coming months than it's been most of this Summer when I was cranking out a new set every few days.

TL/DR:  It's going to be a bit of a wait if you want me to do it.  No hard feelings if you'd rather get things rolling sooner with someone else.

The thing I'm worried about is that I haven't seen him do custom tiles. I'm not doubting him at all. I'm just a little wary, considering he has to make 7 tilesets that must be completely original and look good, too.

Unless he made all those tiles for MM&B from scratch. Then I trust he can do this.

On a related note, I contacted Musashi last night. I know he can make good Famitracks, so I was wondering if he could help.

Also, bots. Anyone want to help with bots? I've never really been good with that stuff...

Never realized how much stuff could be in an expansion. :shocked:

I say no, the heart of the game's Deathmatch and LMS.

If you make any map a CTF map, it immediatly gets less attention than it should unless the WHOLE PACK is geared towards CTF.

Well, you can't use the weapons or items in doom Builder as a resource. Which mean you can't test the map and have the weapons there. I might be using an outdated Microsoft.NET framework...but there is no real way to tell.

Works fine with shock guard for me. Make sure your DoomEd numbers aren't conflicting / replacing anything. Also try clicking continue on the error box if possible. DB is sorta weird like that.

there ARE conflicting DoomEds, though, on the spikes, if you add the shock guard as a resource, suddenly, you can't place spikes in maps

I personally think the flame sizes are fine.
His hands are on backwards in Back/R and Back.
The hole in the bullet on the back frames does not line up with the back/r, and possibly front/r.
The entire bullet is up one pixel on both the front and back.
The shine on the back/r makes it seem like his body is facing a different direction, and he's not very round when moving.
His arms and legs seem cluttered with the greys. Perhaps just use one shade-or if you can't get that to look good, perhaps make them blue and cyan- even if they're supposed to resemble chambers.

Don't feel bad about the height variations, that's probably one of the hardest things of making a skin, other than Back/R.

It's pretty ovalish in the back-right, so that means I'd have to change that too. I was sort of basing it off of an actual bullet hole, which looks like this.

Also, I can see on the moving frames for the back-right and side, but I think that's a little minor.

Good to know! All that's left in the skin department is Grey Devil. I've already got Komuso under control. That only leaves us with music, bots, and maps/tiles. I'll finish Komuso Man eventually, have to finish up Dynamo Man, Neptune, and Oil Man first for MM&B, MMV, and MMPC, respectively.

Grey Devil's eye is different from other Devils. His actually looks like a human eye.

Grey Devil is also fairly small compared to other devils.

Actually, you guys would be surprised how often I'm on. I just don't post too often and I rarely make skins because at this point the few skins I'm working on I have to balance between work, school, and laziness, and they are more complicated then other skins.

Long explanation aside, I've already answered in PM, but yes, I can turn YD into GD, and I give you permission to use it. Of course, if you guys would rather update it into GD, you can, as school starts for me tomorrow, and its gonna be crazy for a while. Still, I should have time to slap a new eye on.

Rockman and Forte 2, the original seemed quickly put together, it had only 6 masters, 5 of which gave weapons, and all the music was reused from Megaman and Bass, just in a different soundfont. It looks like Capcom came up to Hasbro and said: "Hey make a game! Use these characters and this storyline, we'll pay you!"

I like the theme you showed for Airconman, it certainly fits...but as much as I dislike saying this...Kevvviiinnn is a bit overused.

It needs a LOT of work...That pain sprite is not a pain sprite, Mega said it was a JUMPING sprite...Sorry if this insults you, I know you worked hard on this, but that skin doesn't look right at all.

Well, excuuuuuuse me, Coldfusion. If it's one or two soundwaves off, then we'll make it one or two soundwaves on.

I'd rather be on the safe side and use a faithful 8-bit version made in Famitracker (IceSoldier's) as opposed to a 'probably' 8-bit theme that is not exactly faithful to Mega Man music.

That being said, I'm not holding anything against Sawtooth. I'd rather just be completely sure we're using the right program.

On a fairly unrelated note, weren't all the Classic Mega Man themes made in Famitracker?

From what I can find, Famitracker was made somewhere in the early 2000's. I can't find an exact date, though.

Famitracker is just a program designed to mimic the NES's 2A03 soundchip. It is not what actual NES composers used. Please double-check your facts so that you don't sound like you have no clue what you're talking about...

Lego, to tell the truth, I only heard your suggestion for Clockmen. I've never heard the others.

I wish we could use Azeala Town/Olivine City for Komuso. They sound like they would fit.

Also, what is your opinion on using original compositions? I was hoping to use Baisiiliik's Track #6 for Bullet Man, but I'm not too sure if everyone would like it.

Mkay. I've reviewed the music choices, and the only one I like is Clock Men's. The Sammer Kingdom sounds fit for Yamato, but not really Komuso. I was looking for a more peaceful forest type song, which is why I put forward Azelea Town/Olivine City.

As for Aircon's, I was hoping it to be more like Cold Man's theme: sad, with a quick tempo. Really, the theme you put forward is kind of slow and unexciting...

My theme was a bit too happy, though, so I can't really argue to use mine. If MMCTF04 didn't use the song it's using, I would've jumped for it.

Now, the music honestly probably wouldn't be an issue, it was all downgraded well to fit an 8-bit feel, and a lot were lower passed then there SNES counter parts. Also so 5-6 stages have reused songs? If you going for accuracy to the game use the songs out of it.

Now, why make Barrier Wind and Forte Cyclone two different weapons, they worked the exact same in game.
Doppler Crash maybe make a charable weapon where you go farther the longer you hold the button and are invincible during the dash (both Break Dash and the Doppler Crash did this).
Doppler Attack maybe allow some flying while using and high pierce but drains weapon energy really fast.
Flame Shower (Rock's) again high pierce but high drain, no elevation like Blizzard Attack and goes upward slowly when the button is released, making it a good anti-air weapon.
Flame Mixer (Forte's) again high pierce but point blank range, high drain, raises slowly, doesn't block attacks.
Time Bomb (Rock's) stops time like Time Stopper but the time stop lasts for a shorter amount of time and can be used about 5 times from full energy.
Time Switch (Forte's) can do similar but shots don't harm during it, can be used less times from full.
Rock Vulcan can shoot a small shot that splits into three, 1 goes straight the other two arc outward, perfect for hitting around walls, piercing.
Forte Vulcan can shoot a small shot that homes in better then Magnet Missile but not as good as Dive Missile and is much slower moving.

Maybe add an item that acts like the Buster weapons for Compass and R-Shadow
Compass' Ring can hurt enemies on contact and shoots out his sparks which are the exact same as the normal buster with a lower firing rate.
R-Shadow's Buster shoots a laser with piercing that can punch through enemies for normal buster damage and a lower firing rate.

Also maybe R-Shadow's laser blade which shoots sparks in a tri-direction (like it does in game) forward and backward which are slow and do moderate damage.

Kumosu's stage was like some shrine like place, possible an old Japanese palace (like in Ookami)
Aircon's stage actually supposedly takes place under water, if that helps in making his stage.
Lastly, maybe add a stage for R-Shadow as well, you are doing everyone else's stages.

Just so you guys know the maps are all available at vgmaps.com, they just need to be separated into tiles and recolored in photoshop or whatever.  This is an easy one, a good place to start if anyone else wants in on the tile making scene.

I did Clock and Compass palletes, I kept them grey so someone with a better feel can try there hand at coloring them.

I recently dug Komuso Man out of the ground, because I'm tired of waiting for Megaman to finish it. Since I've gotten a little better, I tried again:

The most notable changes are fixing his head on the front, side, and back, making him thinner on the side sprites, and also fixing his shoulders for consistency, among other minor modifications. I also scrapped the walking sprites because they suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

From how it was it is better. Maybe make the pupils lower in the eyes so it looks like he is looking down instead of up.  Whats the arms out animation for?  I'm guessing firing frame? If so he can just have the playing the flute as the only one.  As for running animations maybe a dash, just one animation which is exactly how he "ran" in the game, and Compass had a running animation so it wasn't a limitation.

Most skins have two firing animations? Anyone with a buster doesn't have two. And blow through the pipe then swing arms outward? Does that make sense?

And lazy or not it is accurate to the game, the dashing was his Doppler Crash which when Rock used he dashed forward with a single animation as well, also think that Komuso was using abnormal abilities.  Think of his running animation like Magic Man, Magic dashes back and forth with no leg movement, and I don't think his skin will be having any leg movement.  If you want more frames for his run have one where he swaps which arms are up and changes every two frames.

EDIT: Ok going through I was wrong, but there is a mix of who does and doesn't have two.  If you can't think of something sensical don't make one that looks out of place the other animation.

Just as long as the ammo drain for when you start/stop using it and while using it is reasonably fast and you cannot collect any pickups during it, it should be okay. Even so you'll want to make it a rare weapon.

Best to make sure:

-You don't travel faster than running speed
-You cannot collect anything (though best to find a way without noclip)
-No hitstun
-Hard to reach/find

It was so powerful due to the lack of invincibility times for the bosses.
Forte Vulcan moved slow but homed. Flame Shower rotated around him and when released/ammo depleted it slowly raised off the screen. Doppler Attack drained ammo pretty quick but allowed him to fly around and unable to be hurt.

Rock Vulcan moved the same speed but slit into three shots, one arcing up, one arcing down and one continues straight. Flame Mixer was like Wave Burner without the waving and raised off the screen when ended. Doppler Crash was basicly the same thing as Break Dash without the normal shoot and can't move when charging, also the longer you charge the farther you go (note R-Shadow used this attack also).

As for Barrier Wind/Forte Cyclone (both were the exact same) it blocked shoots, did the most single hit damage of all the weapons, but was harder to aim at smaller moving targets due to the zigzag motion it did. (Near impossible to hit Compass with)

Time Switch/Time Bomb (again both the exact same) basicly acted like Time Stopper but in bursts instead of all at once and allowed you to pass through enemies and shoots.

As for these weapons being so powerful, think about it, robots from the future who are more powerful then ones in the present.

In DM, if they weren't already made I'd say:
Rock Vulcan work just like in R&F2 but the split is left and right, the split can be commanded like Gyro Attack's but doesn't force them to lose vertical movement so can't be aimed over terrain as easily.
Forte Vulcan like a cross of Dive and Magnet. Good tracking ability but VERY slow.
Flame Mixer just like in game, would end up balancing with Wave Burner due to the lack of waving so direct aim is needed and higher ammo drain.
Flame Shower could basically be Scorch Wheel but it has a hugging effect and the shot raises when released making it anti air instead of the rolling along the ground, also no speed up and maybe balance it so it doesn't out class Star Crash by upping its ammo drain.
Barrier Wind/Forte Cyclone maybe move in a figure 8 formation around the central spot of the shot as it moves, blocks shoots even ripper ones, uses a lot of ammo so it only has 4 shoots, +Ripper but INCREDIBLE slow moving.
Doppler Crash sorta like YD's Break Dash but a bit stronger to compensate the lack of moving and uncharged attack, longer charged the further you go to a limit.
Doppler Attack like 712 said. This would be a very rare weapon.
Time Switch/Time Bomb could temp freeze people within a certain range and can't have its ammo refilled as well as leaves your inventory when its out of ammo, making it a less trolly Time Stopper and situationally.

If you want to make Forte Cyclone and Time Bomb different maybe.
Forte Cyclone zigzag differently and some stat swapping for them.
Time Bomb does Time Men's time bomb which caused 4 lightning bolts to strike randomly nearby (but have all 4 come down at once) and stuns opponents just long enough for the bolts to strike before letting them move, making the stun allow the attack to hit more easily and be a minor annoyance to people hit.

Only it has to stop projectiles too, which would probably need the projectiles to all be edited.

You think too highly of me, the weapon is JUST Flashman's Time Stopper, nothing more.

Unfortunately, I can't possibly stop all projectiles in game without doing exactly what the time stopper copywep does.

As for Time Bomb, it's reletivly the same, but with a shorter attack range and it turns the user invisible for a short period of time.

I'm incredibly temped to make them both ACS-based

Please do something different for Aircon and Clcok weapons then.  Any palette where the body is darker than the man-panties just looks wrong, and doubly so on other skins that actually try to use those colors for shading.  

Yes, even when it's cannon like MM's weapon get from Dynamo Man.

Remember Megaman usually matches the color of the weapon.

Also I wouldn't trust too much from that. The Dangan man on that page looks so horrible. And look how tiny he is as apposed to (http://images.wikia.com/megaman/images/7/7c/RFWSopening1.gif)
He is in back and still almost the size of the others.

Maybe make the pallet for Time Switch Grey and White?

Also, oh god that R-Shadow. HE ISN'T GREEN. They call him "That Black Rockman" and "That Black Me" (as said by Rock).  Meaning his armor must be a shade of black.  Also could have at least made him look taller, and used a different standing pose.

Nemz already ripped and added color to all the textures from the game for this expansion.
We highly recommend using those.

Might I suggest looking for the sprite sheets that the Rollchan game is using? They look much better then the ones normally seen. Konro (using the sheet I mentioned) has a bit of work put into him already started by Llama and continued by me seen in his resource thread.

Yea that is the problem. If someone could possible pull it off they could probably recreate them from what they see in the video, I tried but I don't have the patience to do it.

I do have Dangan's and R-Shadow's standing frames though, I don't know where the person who gave them to me got them from though.

Also for Konro I don't think you need to ask Llama cause he has it in resources. Llama had the front stand, I did the other ones. My goal was to have him leaned forward while he ran. But his rotations would have been to hard for me.

Also forgot to answer availability. If we don't go by those sprites (which I recommend as they are the best quality ones I've seen), Aircon, Compass and Clock are all done (but permission to use will be needed). Otherwise pretty much everyone is open to my knowledge.

Dangan shouldn't be too hard to do, cause really, that is the only appropriate skin to not walk. For the same reasons as Comet Woman.

Or just read the below post, cause he would know better then me.

Ahem. Let me shed a little light on the subject.

Dangan Man was finished a while ago by me, but it might have a couple inconsistencies seeing as though it's one of my older works. I'll have to look at it again.
Konro Man is unfinished as stated earlier.
Komuso Man is currently unfinished, but all it requires is walking frames. I still have the sheet if needed.

All of these guys came before Dangan and 2 of them are just "WTF Big", one is canon WTF big but was limited sprite wise, and the other is just freaken big (and proportionally about the same size). And if you look compared to Rock, he is roughly the size Rollchan has him.

And the Dangan from that sprite sheet, I'm just gonna stop trying to avoid saying it, looks so stupid. He looks more like a stage enemy then a freaken boss.

His sprite is too large to warrant it being made into a skin- and you're showing it right now. You basically shot yourself in the foot when you posted Dangan's original sprite.

Whereas Mega Man shrunk in proportion compared to RM&F2's sprite, Dangan Man stayed nearly the same, if not even bigger than he was originally. He's out of proportion compared to the original and to most other Robot Masters in general. Even though I share your sentiment that the one we currently have is mediocre, using this one is not a viable solution- he'll stick out like a sore thumb.

As much as I appreciate your help with both of my expansions and value your friendship, I should be the one calling the shots since I was the guy who started this in the first place. Therefore, I'd honestly prefer to drop both sprites and merely make a new one. As it stands, the current version is rather bad, and this new one isn't much of an improvement.

I think it's fine, actually. If the missile on his chest was made accurate, shooting at someone with the skin could become more complicated than it needs to be if they're facing sideways.

And on the topic of huge bosses, Frost Walrus and Rainy Turtloid are quite huge as well, if you guys wanna take the X series into account.

I hope at some point that this expansion picks back up to finish off the main series games (despite the fact that this game, like the Mega Man Dos games are the weird cousins that you pretend your not related to at family gatherings).

That in mind, I am curious as to how the team interprets Aircon Man. I initially thought it was Air Conditioning Man, but recently heard it as Air Control Man, which honestly makes a lot of sense for his design with the two fans and the cloud attacks. It also makes the Robot Master selection maybe one of the best in terms of an actual plan to take over the world. Aircon Man could shut down flights around the world. Stove (Konro) Man I imagine has some purpose for natural gas which people rely heavily on. Compass Man, assuming he controls some sort of navigation, could throw the world into disarray because we rely on GPS. Clock Men could throw off global timers, affecting deadlines and the worlds being in sync with each other in terms of flights (which once again plays into Aircon(trol) Man). Kumuso Man could possibly have mind soothing or control powers (based on a combination of history and Mega Man logic). And Bullet (Dangan) Man is literally a hired gun for fighting.

On a separate note, looking at the stage sprites for this expansion, most of them are interchangeable just with different color choices. Maybe the stage sprites need the Dos Reborn treatment to make them more distinguishable.

As someone distant from this (assumed dead) project, what's held me back from being interested in bringing it to life in MM8BDM is the surprising lack of original assets. The robot masters and weapons are well defined, but the stages are bizarrely unmemorable. Like you've said, tilesets are largely interchangeable between maps and the music in these stages are directly ripped from Mega Man and Bass - oftentimes in ways that don't fit the robot master at all.

I'd imagine working on skins or weapons or classes for RMF2 would be fascinating, but from a map perspective it's a wasteland. The robot masters and weapons probably wouldn't have to change much at all, but nothing short of a total replacement would get me to work on RMF2 maps.
