My best guess is that the Simple Machines Forum software has guest posting enabled by default (did the old board even have guest posting?).

Posts made by accounts that no longer exist will also appear as guests in SMF. If the posts you're talking about are somewhat old then that is the most likely reason.

MM8BDM Full game speedruns: Should it include the Shark boss fight?

Currently the route includes playing through the entire game and fighting each boss where they naturally appear. Now the question is, seeing how there are two final bosses, which is the better option?

Pros:
Shows the entire game
Get that Final Six vibe going along with Cops and you-know-who
Copchase is an autoscroller which would be dumb right at the end of a speedrun with less to pad it with

Cons:
Locks out people who can't use OGL
Would have to fight Protoman twice
Shark fight sucks

Solution comes with a simple answer: which route is faster? Whichever route is fastest, that's the route to use for any%. All Bosses would be a potential separate category that includes the other route's boss AND the secret boss, unless it's agreed that said category should only include non-optional bosses (v5's two campaign bosses, you have to choose one or the other, the secret boss is completely optional). Bosses that only show up under a certain condition met during matches would have to be approached by a simple factor: is it faster to go through the matches fast and fight them, or to go through the matches without triggering the conditions to fight said bosses?

OpenGL is most optimal unless software saves time in some way (load times, glitches/tricks). Obviously, every fucking thing you can do on the engine that's not blocked off by sv_cheats should be valid.

The problem with any% is that it's basically only a couple boss fights away (MMKs, Bass 2's whole shebang, you-know-who) from the "Full Game" category being discussed and as such would be pretty irrelevant. To this end, there is likely not going to be a differentiation between "any%" and "100%". Most support seems to be for BossRush%, but I'm trying to push a full game speedrun category. This is the main reason I'm shying away from Sharkfight, sort of as a compromise between any% and 100%.

The idea of seeing it as a pair of branching paths is definitely interesting, though. Also been thinking about how other games might take this. Basically, is there precedent where a game has been released on multiple consoles where one had more content than another?

Another questionable point is Chasecam. Likely going to forbid it as it's off by default on servers. But yeah, things like sr50 or similar are fair game.

At the end of the day I am a moderator of the srcom page (http://www.speedrun.com/mm8bdm) and the super mod said he's generally lost interest in the game, so it's just a matter of deciding as a community.

also my mum randomly decided to treat me like shit today, so i can't even enjoy the last two days of summer
what a good two things to make my depression come back after i had just started to feel a bit better?

Apparently, judging from the fact that I've made two topics this day without any replies, and that there hasn't been a single post in "MM8BDM Discussion" for 12 hours, people don't go on the internet on September 6.
