[Suggestion] Changes to the core MM8BDM game to make modding more user-friendly

Alright, I had to think a bit first before determining that this is the right place to suggest this change (since it technically
is
a change to the core MM8BDM game). Also, it's my first post here, so I apologize in advance should my suggestion post show any rookie error. Anyway, without further ado:
So I am trying to make use of user-created skins and other mods for MM8BDM, but the problem is that I can't use them as an actual separate class, but instead as just a reskin of the Megaman class (and it would show up in multiplayer if others have that skin, but only during very specific modes).
After that, I was suggested to get a non-canon characters class mod in order to use the user-created characters as separate classes in for all online modes. However, that mod seems to screw up the single player campaign, as I end up stuck in one class without being able to change the class in Roll's clothes changing room.
And just in general, the seperation between class and skin is just convoluted and confusing that it would be too difficult for me to properly explain it to people I wanna play online with in a way they would understand.
That's why I would like to suggest a change to the core MM8BDM game that just removes the seperation between class and skin and instead treats both as one and the same thing so user-created skins can be used in all online modes while still being accessible in the single player campaign through Roll's clothes changing room.
And I know such an overwrite of a hard-coded DooM thing should be possible because I know other DooM mods already did crazier overwrites of hard-coded DooM things.
So yeah, I would be really grateful if the devs could put my suggestion under consideration. Thanks in advance!

I don't think what you're asking for is possible, nor would it make things any easier for modders? Playerclasses can be coded to do just about anything, but skins are just a simple sprite/sound replacement of a playerclass.
As for Roll's changing room, it is basically a built in skin changer that (sadly) can't dynamically access what classes/skins exist like the Zandronum menus can.
