4TCTF-CMP (4 Team Capture The Flag - Community Map Pack)

Since the recent support of 4 teams in MM8BDM. I've decided to lead a mapping project.

This map pack already has 5 quality maps. That doesn't mean I can't add more maps!

I've already made the textures, you can download them here:

I'll contribute only 1 map for this map pack and I hope this project gains interest.
This of course is for the CTF game mode, but with 4 teams.


If you submit a map to me, I'll do the one of the following:

Return it and tell you to improve it by x.
Stick it straight in the map pack.
Tweek it a little bit then stick it in.
Banish it into the fires of hell.

SV_MaxTeams = 4This needs to be set to have 4 teams, in the release version it will be forced on. This is just for when you are testing.

We have 5 potential maps so far:

4TCTF01 "WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL THESE TEAMS" - DTDsphere
4TCTF02 "OLD RUINS" - Jack Corvus
4TCTF03 "FOUR CORNERS" - Duora Super Gyro
4TCTF04 "CRYSTAL CROSSING" - Yellow Devil Buggy. Yellow Devil will have to retouch his map.
4TCTF05 "JOY RIDE" - Jack Corvus

I could probably contribute.

I'm on my craptop, though, so it may take me a week or two to get this done.

Also, where would the Mr. X and Cossack flags be? In the same spot as the Light and Wily flags?

Basically a normal CTF map but with 4 lines of symmetry.

Yaaaay symmetry

I kinda have a cool idea, too.

Would a large + with a few outside areas sound like a good layout, or should I think over the layout again?

That is typically the layout of any 4 Team CTF map.

I already started on one, but the 4teams patch is broken as it stands as the Mr. X flag doesn't work, and there are no Purple or Orange team starts.

I made a small test map, using recoloured Centaurman textures to show the different team bases. (Dr. Light and Wily team bases are not shown since they are the normal red and blue textures).

I just had a brilliant idea for a map, so I'll join this project as well.

Are we using 4TCTF as a standard mapcode? As in, 4TCTF01, 4TCTF02, etc.

True.

Regardless, I had an idea. We could contact a few previous CTF mapmakers and see if we could convert their 2CTF maps into 4CTF maps. Ivory's ICTF03 and Cartheif's Underwater Base would work well as 4CTF maps.

Almost done on my map. Still no player starts nor X flags though.

My recolourings took me around 5 minutes to make, so obviously it's not so good. Oh well, I sent DTD the map with textures, if anyone else wants em pm me.  :ugeek:
