The draft pick is meant to encourage diversity in both classes played and strategies used. Besides, players should be encouraged to be proficient with many classes. If taking a single class away is enough to shut a player down, then of course it's a strategically sound move.

Banning some classes who can kill the fun of TLMS, yeah, but banning 4 CLASSES who can be played by people, so, it's 8 classes??? It's bad. :/
People could be allowed to play with their favorites classes, banning them is just cheap. Just sayin'

Normally I'd think those bans would be used for the stupid shit (Flash Man) but those are just getting permabanned anyway (Which is a good idea by the way) so it just makes the "can't use your mains use secondaries you're worse with scrub" really weird.

This is a pretty normal way to think at first. Give it a little more thought and you've got a mental game of chess going on.

"Bob is a Cutman main, but he's also really good with Crash and Yamato. Do we completely ban Bob's mains out and make him useless, or do we ban Joe's Skull and DM3 so we don't get sniped to death? Do we have the means of dealing with huge range? Should we ban out Bob and pick melee classes like Slash or Shadow to kill Joe, or will that leave us open to anti-melee? Will Joe even consider playing ranged classes?"

See where I'm going with that? There's more than just Bob the Cutman main. Every team that's going into this has multiple strategies in mind. It's up to you to prioritize which strategies to ban out, and which you can let through if you know how to play against them.

There is nothing "cheap" about that. Teams need to come with multiple strategies and contingencies in order to compete. Showing off your one-trick-pony Elecman skills isn't the point of the tournament. The whole idea is to work together as a team combining individual skill, coordination, and pick/ban mindgames in order to win. If that means not being able to use your favorite classes 24/7, so be it. If you want to win as Elecman all day, play duel.

Elecman is not one of my favorite in YD classes, and the alt of the new version is not the same, have you played the last version?

It's maybe a strategic thing but it kills the fun', maybe if you ban 2 classes for a team, it can be enough but 4 ?.....

There are 103 classes in CBM. After bans, you will have 95 options. (not counting the classes that are banned from the start as we don't have an official list) That's still a lot of classes, and plenty of options for each role.

The fun doesn't die just because the one trick pony loses it's trick. Nobody should put one trick ponies on their team.

Yeah, I can see where you're getting at. I tend to try to see the worst possible outcome when it comes to stuff like this and I still think that if you can deal with Joe and Steve because you can handle their classes, that crippling Bob and just making him have a bad time is still a possibility and a pretty lame one, I can't say for certain if it will actually be a strat that will be used throughout the course of the tourney though.

I think I'm mostly just having bad memories of the banning from the classes duel tourney from forever ago. That was just straight up "can't use your mains ever" and not nearly as much mind chess as you put it because it's 1v1, not 3v3, so picking the bans is so much more straightforward.

As TLMS, maps aren't as important. However, some maps such as dive, gyro, wave, mm7dw4 will be polled along with the v8b repoll.

Quick Question, can you change classes midway through a match? Or once you pick a class, you have to use it for the entire round? (In true draft-pick style, I guess once you pick a class, you have to use it for the entire match.)

Once the map has started, you may not use any other classes. The draft repeats before every map.
