We are finalized at 8 teams - what a perfect number for a tournament! That being said, it will take me some time to complete the map pool, and more importantly the tournament/match structures. I don't want to rush this as it is very important to the whole concept of the tournament, so please plan on the tournament officially beginning sometime tomorrow, Monday June 11th, unless I notify otherwise. I was quite a bit delayed from my original estimate, but here we are! It's just about time for the tournament to begin! Before we do though, I would ike to run through the list of rule changes made to accompany the finalization of the tournament structure.

Rule Changes:

The following are a list of rule changes accompanying the launch of the tournament. Please check the indicated rules on the first post to update yourself:

1. Added server names and IPs. Join passwords will be released to competitiors when the bracket/matches are released on June 13th.
2. Added mm8bdm_sv_nolmsweapons 1, to remove RNG from copywep classes. Added classtrack-wig-v5.pk3 to more easily log players' used classes for myself.
3. Changed classes version to v9ch. Added livespool-v1b-t3.wad as the stock-sharing wad. Added WIGpatch.pk3 to remove RNG from Rock, Mercury, and Doc Robot.
4. Added banned maps (see below for explanations). Added starting map pool.
5. Added banned-classes clause. Fixed counterpick order clause.
8. Added Challonge plug.
12. Added new Rule 12 about stalling.

Below, I will go over the most major of the above rule changes, to make sure no one misses them!

The Beginning Map Pool:

Please see the first post for the map selection procedure. For this procedure, the beginning map pool will consist of the following 9 maps:

Tournament Structure:

The important part! Due to the nature of the tournament (being locked out of classes once winning with them), the structure had to be carefully considered to make sure it worked with the theme and that it didn't have any holes. As such, it may seem a little complex, but have no fear! The process will be streamlined for you, the participants: using Challonge, you will always know who your next opponent is, what length of match to play, and what classes both you and your opponent have available. The structure of the tournament is as follows:

Phase 1: Swiss Rounds

In the first phase, all teams will participate in three rounds of the Swiss pairing procedure. You all have an assigned opponent for the first round, and after that, winners will be paired with winners and losers will be paired with losers. You will play a total of 3 rounds (that is, 3 sets) in this first phase. For this phase, matches will be best of 5, winlimit 1, sv_maxlives 7.

At the end of the phase, the one team with an 0-3 record is eliminated from the tournament. The one team with a 3-0 record gets to skip the next phase, and heads straight into the Finals.

Phase 2: The Death Pool

After Phase 1, there will be three teams with a 2-1 record and three teams with a 1-2 record. These teams will be paired against each other (2-1s vs 1-2s), avoiding as many repeat matches as possible. In this phase, hitting 3 total wins puts you through to the finals, while hitting 3 losses eliminates you. As such, if any teams end with up with a 2-2 record after the first round here, additional matches will be played. In this phase, matches will be best of 3, winlimit 1, sv_maxlives 7.

At the end of this phase, 3 more teams will be eliminated, leaving a total of 4 teams remaining.

Phase 3: The Finals

The finals will be a double elimination bracket, with all teams starting in the upper bracket. The team with a 3-0 record gets to select their first round opponent, and the other two teams are paired against each other. It's double elimination, so even if you lose once here you still have a chance to make it back!

Another note about the finals: before beginning Phase 4, each team has the opportunity to unlock some of their used classes. The number of classes you may unlock is equal to your set spread. So, the lone 3-0 team gets to unlock 3 of its used classes; if you're 3-1, you get to unban 2 classes; if you're 3-2, you get to unban 1 class. So try to make it here with as few losses as possible!

Please read over these new rules (and the old rules) so you are fully familiar with them for the tournament to run smoothly. Once I wake up/get up tomorrow (June 13th), I will release the bracket/matches (as well as the join password for the servers) and the tournament will begin! Remember, in this phase, matches are best of 5 using the official server settings. Remember to do the appropriate map striking for Map 1, and the class counterpicking system for subsequent maps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Important tournament update!

We have had 2 teams - GigaMans and The M. E. T. A. - drop out of the tournament, so for this reason I will be re-opening sign ups until Saturday, June 16th, at 12:00 PM EDT (UTC -4).

Unfortunately because of this, we will have to put the rest of the tournament on hold until that deadline. Thank you for your patience! Please come to me with any questions or concerns you have.
