MM8BDM Online games screwing up the resolution

For some reason, Online games (through DoomSeeker) are messing up the screen resolution. Everything gets very pixelated and the text is huge, so the side text covers 1/4 of the screen. How do I go about fixing this?

Update: After following some more steps in the MM8BDM DoomSeeker setup tutorial, I can't play on servers I was just 10 minutes ago, it says my protocol version is different.
