Biometal Brawl [vLX]
« on: April 14, 2015, 09:07:25 PM »
Based on Megaman ZX[A], this mod replaces all the weapons in the game with 6 models you can swap between.

You can get it here!

This mod differs from normal weapons mods as it's closer to a class mod; Changing between the different models it's more akin to changing your class than your weapon.
There are some odd nuances that do have to be explained for optimal play in the mod though [some of which aren't explained in the help screen woops] so here's those.

Important notes for play:
- Bind a key to +user1. This will allow you to dash. I suggest putting over your inventory use button while the mod is loaded, as doing so will only overwrite that key while the mod is loaded.
-- To better explain the above one, I have invuse bound to E. After loading bbv0.pk3, I bound E to +user1. After removing bbv0.pk3, my E is still bound to invuse. Get it?
- Model PX, Model LX, and Model HX all have double jump functions. Model PX clings to walls and ceilings[detach with dash or jump], Model LX begins to swim[stop with jump again], and Model HX begins to hover[stop by jumping or dashing]
- Upon switching to a weapon, your momentum is stopped and you're frozen in place. You can press fire, altfire, jump, dash, or use to unfreeze, or just wait there for 4 seconds.
- Every model has an altfire. Aside from HX, FX, and ZX all of the altfires are the mainfires with charging capability removed.
- Not currently compatible with LMS or TLMS. I'll get to it eventually.
- No, I'm not buffing Megaman. He exists for the sole purpose of allowing you to play this mod with your skins folder on.
- You can only be hit by each saber strike once per 18 tics unless it's LX's or ZX's spinning attacks

Screenshots:
None presently, aside from the one I posted in the screenshots thread

Much like Team Sneak, this is an early release of the mod being publicly tested by y'all. I'll continue to work on it as time goes on, but enjoy the super imbalanced gameplay and provide feedback!

This looks pretty interesting.
I just gave it a shot, and i like it so far.

2 things i noticed for the short time i played:
Both modelh and modelzx' huds look cut off when firing, nothing terrible.
The hover is not that useful, you move pretty slow with a short range melee attack.

So far, pretty entertaining :L

But what about Model OX?

Model Ox would be far too ridiculous for any normal gameplay mode and would likely have been the terminator rune were it not basically "more powerful ZX," which is kind of lame.
If I did make a terminator rune replacement, it would likely be Albert as Model W because that would probably be more interesting.

Got a bunch of things I need to change/fix for the next version, glad I got to test this with not-bots.
and I thought melee users would be OP for OHKO chance. boy was I horribly, horribly wrong.

Yeah, I know. I was just kidding.

I was pretty impressed that you added in the HX slash combo, even if I have a lot of trouble pulling it off for some reason.
Also, Model X doesn't have its double charge shot? That makes sense from a balance perspective, I suppose.

you know what i'm about say is totally broken but funny if you add it in XD
what if you made so when in model P mode you could climb up walls by latching to a wall and pressing space to jump up more and then latching again to the wall over and over! People would get to normally impossible spots! XD

Thoughts after playing this for a short time;

-Unless I was missing something the melee attacks are terrible. They seem to take forever to actually kill something and stop you in place to use them which is hilariously clunky. All you have to do is backpedal and shoot and you're fine when fighting them.
-Model F seemed like it has something going on with the twin cannons but doesn't seem that much more different from the basic model. Apparently his charge shot creates pillars when it hits the ground but otherwise he just seems like a basic model that has +10 damage on each of the shots unless I'm missing something.
-Model P's alt belongs in a bullet hell rather than here. Good DPS and no ammo cost mean every match pretty much boils down to sprinting to the P transformers and then W+M2ing until you die. I was able to put up a little fight as the basic model if I ambushed them but in a straight up fight I lost pretty much every time.

Final note, I never was able to find one of the punk form weapons so I have no idea how well it works (best guess on observation-not too well due to stop n' slice)

Version L released

Notes:

Let me know if anything's exploding. Should play a bit smoother now!

edit:
Oh right, I should mention that I think your comment on Model FX is incredibly valid, Isaac. I'm not quite sure how to do something about it currently, but I'll think of something.

i found a glitch with model L.
when you hold alt while swimming and get out of the water, you actually can fly.
the only way to stop flying is to switch classes, but you are unable to dash.

also,i found out that the exit item didn't got removed

This mod was interesting before, but it's pretty darn cool now. I'll play around with it a bit, maybe do some LAN play.

Oh, right, I asked about Model OX before, but are there any plans for Model A?

EDIT: On the topic of Model FX, I don't think it's too weak at all. I mean, it seems like you can wipe others out in five shots, and when you alternate busters, you have a pretty high rate of fire. Which is about as accurate as one can get to Model FX, since you can't really implement the buster shot path thing.

Being weak isn't exactly the point; Model FX isn't weak at all, it's just really similar to X.

I have plans for Model A.

Yeah, but Model FX was pretty similar to X in the first place. You've basically implemented them both accurately, minus X's double charge shot and FX's buster paths. Maybe Atlas's time bombs could be used to make FX more distinct? Or maybe it could have a melee attack that knocks the enemy away?

I tested this and I got interested in the mod. You're doing a pretty good job so far. I'm even learning how model ZX's weapons work.  Do you mind if I use some of your coding to create my own classes as long as I give credit?
