It's that time again! Questionable websites turning to corn, Virtual Reality devices being introduced to Minecraft, and Doom Time Trial Boss Attacks turning out to be baits and switches entirely. What's going on? Why, it must be April Fools Day once again!

I've made some changes to the Mega Buster to improve it a little. I added in a Charge Shot based on code from the Classes mods, and the buster pellets now have a "dying" animation when hitting targets or terrain. Would appreciate some feedback so far!

MM8BDM Discussion / MM8BDM no longer playable in OpenGL?

Until now, Zandronum has been running quite fine on my Windows Tablet, in OpenGL mode. But now, it's completely and suddenly unplayable. I'm getting complete lag spikes even from the menu screens, and sometimes I have to force close the game with Task Manager. I never updated Zandronum, so I don't know what's going on here. :(

Software mode still works fine, though.

I need to set up a poll on one of my topics, but I don't seem to know where to find the feature. I don't know where to find it ever since we moved forum software. Editing the OP doesn't seem to offer the ability either.

It it's something that's literally right under my nose, it'll feel embarrassing, to be fair.

In most levels that have large lakes of water, the bots very often end up dogpiling in the underwater area while very rarely being seen on dry land. It's especially bad in MMBDW1 where there's often a mosh pit of bots fighting right over the Remote Mine while you'd be lucky to see them wandering elsewhere.

Levels that have such lakes include MM8AQU, MMBPIR, MMBDW1, MMWTMWS, MM9SPL, and probably some others I'm missing.

I suggest adding the "block monster" flag to most of the water edges so that bots can fight on land, but not every water edge. MM3GEM and MMBCOL are good example of this.

Closed / Mouse cursor for menus

The upcoming Zandronum 3.0 supports the mouse cursor in menus (ZDoom and GZDoom has had this for ages now), including custom ones. The only problem is that Daisy's bloody, severed head happens to be the default cursor, which would be way out of place in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, especially considering the blood. There's also different selectable cursors themed on Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and Chex Quest, and while not as bad as Doom's Daisy cursor, they still look out of place with the 8-bit setting.

So my proposal is, replace Daisy with an appropriate Mega Man themed cursor. Does anyone have any ideas?

Pretty much what this reads. Once Zandronum 2.0 is released, everyone will be moving to it. If something breaks with MM8BDM, it could be disastrous. Anyone want to test MM8BDM with this?

This is Smash Arsenal, a mod that gives the player most of Mega Man's moveset from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Instead of collecting weapons, you can hold down a directional button and then use primary or secondary fires to use a particular attack. As a result, all weapons and buster upgrades are removed from the map, along with ammo pickups, W-Tanks, Energy Balancers, and Reggae Calls. All mobility assisting items such as Item-1, Wire Adaptor and Rush Jet are also gone. M-Tanks are replaced with the normal E-Tank. Some items such as Beat Support and Tango are still available. The Party Ball's drops have also changed to reflect this.

Primary actions:
Neutral (Ground or Air): Mega Buster - Fires a Mega Buster shot. Travels a short distance.
Backwards (Ground): Slide - Kicks forward, damaging any enemy in the way. Can pierce shields.
Forwards (Ground): Top Spin - Spins forward, damaging enemies around you. Can pierce shields.
Forward + Backwards (Ground): Mega Upper - A very powerful Shoryuken that launches opponents upwards if it connects. Can pierce shields.
Forwards (In air): Air Shooter - Air Man's weapon. Fires an Air Shooter tornado that arcs up. Enemies caught are blown around.
Backwards (In air): Hard Knuckle - Hard Man's weapon. Shoots a strong Hard Knuckle fist. Travels a short distance. Causes recoil.
Left (In air): Flame Sword - Sword Man's weapon. Swings a sword of flame towards the left. Can pierce shields. Can ignite oil pits.
Right (In air): Slash Claw - Slash Man's weapon. A more concentrated slash. Can pierce shields.

Secondary actions:
Neutral: Metal Blade - Metal Man's weapon. Throws a Metal Blade that travels a moderate distance. Only one can be thrown at a time. Can get stuck on the terrain and be picked up by other opponents.
Fowards: Rush Coil - Summons Rush to boost your height. Afterwards, he will remain until either a short period passes or when someone bounces on him.
Backwards: Leaf Shield - Wood Man's weapon. Surrounds yourself with a barrier of leaves that can take a small amount of damage. The leaves can also damage opponents next to you, and can also be thrown a short distance. Thrown shields can pierce other shields.
Left or Right: Crash Bomb - Crash Man's weapon. Shoot an explosive that travels a moderate distance and then attaches to a surface until it explodes. Only one Crash Bomb can be shot at a time.

What currently isn't included:

Smash Attacks: While charging the Mega Buster is easy to do, it renders Mega Man completely immobile while he does it in Super Smash Bros., and that would leave the player in MM8BDM way too vulnerable. Plus, Spark Shot and Flame Blast are way too different in that game anyway to effectively translate in MM8BDM.
Final Smash: MM8BDM wouldn't be able to handle a cinematic attack animation like Mega Man's Final Smash.
Crash Bomb sticking to other opponents: Having Crash Bombs stick to other opponents (and being able to pass it onto others) is way beyond my coding expertise, let alone making it still count as a kill for the one who shot it in the first place.
Ice Slasher freezing opponents: While something like Wily Capsule's ice projectiles can be done, there's no ice encasing sprite for the victim to come with it.
Ridley: I tried to include him, but he ended up being way too big for my liking and I had to exclude him. Sorry about that. :

* Altered the CVars system. Hopefully they work online properly now!
* Increased jump height to match the one in instagib.
* When firing the Mega Buster, you can hold down to keep firing it, like in core
  MM8BDM.
* Altered the controls so that you hold down the keys instead of having to press
  them (note: left and right keys have priorty).
* Rush Coil should now work properly when standing in floor clipping surfaces.
* Added slight weapon lag to end of Air Shooter to prevent rapid firing
+ Added slide (so more or less, Charge Kick).
+ Added Top Spin (works like Top Man's in Classes, except with less distance)
+ Added Mega Upper (powerful shoryuken that has very limited range)
- Removed Ridley.

Note: Custom CVars aren't working online, which means the server controls which palette and custom moves everyone gets. It's perfectly fine for offline skirmish, though.

Japanese voice actor Chikao ?tsuka has tragically died on January 15th 2015 of a heart failure. He was 85 years old.

He voiced a wide variety of characters in video games, such as Big Boss from the Metal Gear and Dr. Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchises. However, us Mega Man fans probably know that he also voiced Dr. Weil from the Mega Man Zero games.

Farewell, Chikao. May you be at peace at last.

This game is just pure comedy gold. It's an adventure style game set in a surreal world where you walk around doing a mission, but you can get side-tracked by a lot of things, which leads to hilarious situations, or minigames that parody various games. I'm surprised it hasn't come up here yet.

By far the best part, however, is "Wedding Qake", which parodies Quake III: Arena, except the weapons, items and even the term "death" have various "wedding" motifs. It's too bad you can only play against bots in a 10 frag limit match on only one map. Someone needs to make that into a full game.
