Ivory's Ebony Dungeon of Maps
« on: October 23, 2010, 04:09:12 AM »
Welcome to my little section of the editing thread.
This main page will be my master page will any downloads will be kept.

Current Projects
Ground Man's Stage for the M&B Expansion -
Currently not started, and will be started until the textures are available. It is actually done now, after all these years.
[/list]

Releases:
The Ivory Pack
After 4 or so months of hard work, the Ivory Pack is now released! Enjoy 10 new Deathmatch Levels and 3 CTF Levels to fight on! Credits and more information located in the readme within the file.
Release Thread
Download Here

Game Modes:
Quick Man

A new Gamemode! A simple little add on that makes it so the player is 2.5x as fast and only has the Bass Buster, Quick Boomerang and Star Crash.
THE GAMEMODE MODIFIER MUST BE SET TO "BUCKSHOT" FOR THIS TO WORK!
It works with any game mode, deathmatch, ctf, terminator, everything. Just ensure the gameplay modifier is buckshot.
Idea by Mr X, programmed myself.
Download Here

Legacy Maps:
These maps are my legacy maps. Old versions of map so overhauled, I decided to keep them about for the public in this legacy section. I will not provide screenshots for these maps, but since for the most part, they are old versions of old maps, you should know what to expect.
CTF - Flag Surfing -Legacy-
CTF - Submerged Base -Legacy-

Notice:
Being close to the release of my Ivory Pack, I've killed the download link the Submerged Base and Sand Canyon. Both maps are appears in the Ivory Pack.
Edge of the Dam and Wood Man's Revenge have been accepted into the official MM8BDM game in the v1C update. I've taken down the download links. I'll eventually be creating a new ICTF01 and 03 to replace them.

I'm open for suggestions on improvements.

Wait a minute, how much of that submerged base are you actually able to walk around in?
'cause for a second I thought it was asymmetrical, which, while it would be unique, would be very strange, for me at least.

Pretty much all that yellow sandy texture you see on the left and right side is inaccessible.   The actual playable area is within those teal markers. On the third screen shot you can see it. While you can see across to the other teams side, you can't actually walk or fire through the glass.

And Yeah, I thought going from one side to the other was too common, so I tried with the concept of going around.

As for the acs errors. I have no idea. When ever I run the maps, they load up perfectly fine.
What confuses me more is that Submerged Base has no acs in it. And Flag Surfing is exactly what Cutty had. Literal copy and paste.

Edit: There is no problems with the map. It was Kirbu's method of installation that broke them.

I suddenly find myself enamored with you.  Are you, by chance, seeing anyone?  <3

But seriously, these maps are just pure and total awesome, Ivory.  These are the kinds of maps I wish I'd thought to make. (Not that I'm having that much luck with Doom Builder to begin with.  I forgot how (somewhat) complex Doom maps are...)  VCTF FTW!  Also, that undersea base map strongly reminds me of one of my favorite maps from Command & Conquer: Renegade.  Two very worthy maps to have any collection!  But man, the size of those maps are a bit ridiculous...  1/6th the size of the game itself, if I'm not mistaken, and almost as big as The Ultimate Doom!  What did you put in there?  Boulders?  O_o  *examines*  ...  Oh.  Music in WAV format.  That explains that alright.  Would you like me to convert them to OGG format for you?  The music will be much smaller with no loss in quality. (438 KB and 269 KB as opposed to 9.22 MB and 8.07 MB.)

It seems both Carthief and Ivory came up with the idea to have an underwater base! I'll check these out

Ok, the underwater map is cool. Took me a while to understand the layout but I got there in the end. I can probably put this in if you're done with it. It'll be weird ending with two CTF maps with exactly the same theme though  :p

As for the waveman one, I want this one to work okay but you'll simply HAVE to test this online first. Also I couldn't crash my boat into the middle section sometimes. Maybe some lines using ACS_Execute rather than ACS_ExecuteAlways or something?

It's a shame there was already an underwater base so the second one loses its touch just a bit, but it still looks like a fine map.

I was thinking somebody should put Wave Man's water bikes in a CTF map and was going to try it myself if nobody else did.  Good job!

Now that you mentioned it, I did. Luckily Find and Replace is my best friend
But yes, I'm not too sure if it will work. As much as I want to make it work. You need a big open map for those water bikes to be cool. However, being so big, it also lags the hell of the match when too many projectiles are in flight. I already heavily cut the map size once. I never got around to testing it online, but I know bots have a tendency to make my computer crash with the old larger layout.  I'll see what I can do.

As for the underwater map, I have a few tweaks I'm going to get done on it if it's going to become an official map.

Here's an idea for the water bike stage:  What if you had those water bikes in a stage similar to Toad Man's sewers but with a larger lake in the center?  Obviously, the waterways would have to be wider to make it easier, but that way you wouldn't have so much slow down.

And here's an idea for the underwater base: make it at night time? I.e Gemini man's textures?
