NEWS: We have a new 2-Man DM to Duel transformation wad. This removes Time Stopper, Eddie, E-Tanks, M-Tanks, Super Adapter, Time Slow, Treble Sentry, Exit Unit, and Proto Upgrade from the game. All contestants and hosts must have this wad.
PLEASE NOTE: For the second stage of the competition, duels will be a bit more serious. I ask that talking in servers whilst ranked duels are occurring be limited to strict necessity. Additionally, only two time outs will be allowed to each contestant for every game, with the exception of lag spikes, should they be merely isolated. Also note, that from hence forth, frags scored on players talking outside of a called time-out will count. Don’t talk during your duels, for goodness sake. Frags scored on players about to call a time-out will not count.
Remember, map picks reset for stage two, but once again you may only pick a map once; all matches are best two out of three. Contestants each pick a map, the third is agreed upon mutually.

Get fraggin'! Hosts, now is the time. Host those servers!
That's right. A classic duel tournament. No teams. No gimmicks. No complications. Just good old fashioned fragging to determine the top dog.
General Rules:
Spoiler:
1. All duels will be played in v2c, or, once v3a is released, v3a.
2. All duels must be played in Deathmatch mode, with a 2 player join limit, unless/until v3a is released with a fix to the current issues of Duel mode.
3. All duels must be to ten (10) frags, with no time limit.
4. The following maps are banned: MM5CRY, MM5GYR, MM5WAV, MM7DW4, MM7SPR. The following maps are only allowed upon mutual agreement: MM3SHA, MM6CEN, MM3NEE, MM7BUR. Non-vanilla maps may be used upon mutual agreement, though I reserve the right to disqualify a duel if I discern that the map used is not capable of housing a proper duel, or if any glitches, bugs, etc. are abused.
5. Server hosts must ensure that the following parameters are in place (in addition to all normal parameters for public hosting): a) Crouch OFF b) Chasecam OFF c) Forced Respawn ON d) Skill NIGHTMARE e) Unlagged OFF f) Autoaim OFF g) Drop weapon on death OFF h) Suicide OFF i) Spawnfarthest ON j) Mapvotes ON
6. Server hosts must be able to provide logs of any and all matches if I request them.
7. Duels played on the server of one of the duelists will not count.
8. Policy on lag: a) The first line of defense against lag lies in server hosts. If hosting for the tournament, you may not have bots in any other servers. Connection limit must be set at a maximum of 10 (meaning two combatants, 8 spectators maximum.) You may set the limit as low as 4, allowing for two combatants and two spectators. b) Server hosts, know the limitations of your hosting capabilities. If you choose to host for this tournament, you are committing yourself to hosting responsibly. If I get excessive or proven complaints of server lag, any duels during that sessions will be discounted and you will be asked to reconsider your hosting setup. If I get excessive or proven complaints a second time, duels performed on your server will no longer count from that point on, unless significant changes are made. c) Combatants are responsible for most clientside bandwidth issues. If you lag during a duel due to other programs running on your computer, you will not be excused and everything will count. d) If an uncontrollable or unexpected clientside issue occurs, you are expected to complete the current duel to the best of your ability. After said duel is over, you may contact me with your issue. I will use my discretion as to whether or not the duel will count.
9. As tournament host, I reserve the right to add, remove, or change rules as I see fit to maintain a smooth, functional, and equally fair tournament.
This tournament will flow very similarly to Rtists's Summer Classical Duel Tournament, for those of you who participated in and/or followed that tournament. There will be two stages. The first stage will be the seeding stage and, if necessary, the preliminary elimination stage. Depending on the number of applicants, the first stage will either consist of universal seeding or grouped elimination. In other words, the first stage will be one of the following.
Spoiler:
a) If enough players sign up, the first stage will be very similar to that of Rtist's tournament. Applicants will be grouped into a number of groups with a manageable number of players in each. Your responsibility will be duel each person in your group twice. For each pair of matches, each player will pick one map. Once you pick a map, you may not pick this map as your choice for the rest of the first stage. I reiterate, this is very similar to Rtist's first stage, for those of you who participated.
b) If a certain threshold of applicants is not reached (this threshold TBD), then the above procedure will be applied to the entire contestant pool. In other words, you will fight EVERY contestant twice in the first stage, in the above manner.
The second stage consists of one or more classic brackets. If (a) was the first stage, then at least two brackets will be created. One will be composed of the top one or two contestants of each group, the other of the 2nd place or 3rd and 4th place contestants of each group, determined by win-loss ratio, kill-death ratio, and/or a tiebreaker duel, in that order. If there is interest, a bracket(s) can be made for the lower ranking members of each group. These brackets will be subsequently be seeded.
If (b) was the first stage, this serves as the seeding and one bracket will be made. After the first round of this second stage, a second bracket will be made for the losers of the first round.
Rules for the second stage:
Spoiler:
1. All matches are best 2 out of 3. 2. All duels will have a fraglimit of 10. 3. For each match, each player will pick one map, and the third will be mutually decided upon. Duelists can decide whose pick to play on first. 4. You may pick a map only once for the entirety of the second stage. Stage one picks o not count in stage two (you may pick a stage you picked in stage one of the tournament in stage two.)

I reserve the right to remove anyone whom I see as disrupting the flow of the competition and/or from whom I observer disorderly or disruptive conduct and/or about whom I have sufficient, credible evidence pointing towards disorderly or disruptive conduct. *If you have any suggestions regarding alterations to the rules, feel free to submit them on this thread, or privately via PM or Skype. *This kind of tournament, what with the secondary brackets, is designed to give more than just the best players a taste of action. Please don't be afraid to sign up!

10 frags is a little much for some maps, though. I know how long these things can get.
Also, Needle Man should be banned due to Wind Hold bind bullshit.

I'll consider making the fraglimit open to change by mutual agreement. As for Needle Man, it has been added to the maps only allowed upon mutual agreement.
