Hello everyone, and welcome to The Oshiro Zone. Please, take off your hats when you come through the door.

What is this, you ask? Simply put, this is a spin-off side story meant to accompany your regularly scheduled Cutstuff War broadcast. While EK is out and about bringing you the action you thirst for, I'm here to calm everyone down with a bit of humor at the end of the day. Now I know what you're thinking, "ANOTHER spin-off? Oh boy, here we go..." and that's understandable. We had a few... well, "spin-offs" in the past, and without dragging this out let's just say they sucked beyond human comprehension. Unlike the previous failures, though, this story is 100% grain-fed all American beef, stamped with Epic Kirby's seal of approval. My story is canon; this means that the only characters you'll see here are ones that have been given the greenlight for the Cutstuff War. This works both ways as well; not only can you not send in new characters, but I can't add any of my own either. Yeah, no sniper Ivory with a medipak here guys. (Well, unless he/she/it/xe/wartortle really wants to...)

Take note of the title as well. It's named "The Oshiro Zone" for a reason. Yes, this story will be focusing on everyone's favorite crazy hyped-up doctor and his small ragtag team of assistants. I'll try to incorporate other character's actions from time to time, but for the most part you're stuck with the lovable doofus.

Well, I think I got everything out of the way for the most part. Similar to Epic Kirby, this story will also be split apart into segments, though instead of Rounds I'll be going by Chapters. The first Chapter will be put up here, with future Chapters being linked in this post for space reasons. You know, that pesky maximum character limit and what not.

See where it says "4th Conflict"? That's CS War Part 2.
The first Cutstuff War is referred to as the 1st Conflict.

Yeah, I reference stuff that Oshiro did before Part 2.

Welcome back to my own little personal corner of hell I'd like to call The Oshiro Zone. Against all odds, people actually want me to work on this again, and to be blunt I can't say I blame them. The Doc provided a light counter-spin on the darker and edgier Cutstuff War, and having some fun with his chaotic crew adds a needed lighter mood in between all of the blood and killing and infinite air combos. To avoid confusion I'm going to post all of the new content starting on this post right here, starting with this intermission chapter I've prepared to help me get back into the swing of things.

Remember when I said you wouldn't get any more until I got feedback? Yeah, this time I'M somewhat SERIOUS. Say something to the effect of "wow the Doc's one sexy bastard isn't he" or you're all grounded for a month. As far as the older content goes, to be honest I think it's fine but I might end up re-writing it anyway. I wasn't kidding when I said Barlowe really did a number on me, so I'm still a bit unsure of whether I should continue where I left off or simply try starting over.

Day 0 ~ Foreword

My name is Daniel Oshiro. Part-time fighter, full-time roboticist. I am writing this experimental log in the hopes that, if I am somehow disabled or otherwise put out of comission, another capable engineer will find these notes and finish what I had started. Alternatively, if I am not disabled and can complete the project's creation, I could leave these notes somewhere out in the open for the designated enemy to find. Said enemy could then read this log, realize that they are hopelessly and utterly screwed, and proceed to have several unnerving inner thoughts about how wrecked they're going to get once they face this mechanical monstrosity.

A great man once said "necessity is the mother of invention", and unfortunately I cannot remember who said it or this would be a great time to have a historic quote. My necessity, you ask? She appeared two years ago, under the guise of a friendly comrade. She snuck her way into our batallion, gaining our trust... and my heart. Since then she's ruthlessly double-crossed the entire team for her own selfish and twisted purposes, destroying one of my finest robots and rendering his Master AI, for the moment, unreadable in its current state.

Since that wretched day, I've been performing different tests and collecting lots of data in order to develop the ultimate counter-weapon. When an adventurous friend of mine sent me news of a ruined city, she went on a side story about her previous expedition in an underwater cave complex. It was in this anecdote that Miss Nakano unknowingly gave me the answer to my greatest of mysteries.

The key... was a fish. A fish shaped like a gun.

Day 1 ~ Development

Today, I have begun development of various synthetic energy cores, the first phase of my plan. Analyzing the fusion-core buster technology used by the legendary Mega Man, I have been able to successfully replicate various forms of transmutating energy cells, commonly referred to as Weapons Energy. During my labors, I accidentally stumbled on the greatest fruit of them all... a form of Weapons Energy that regenerates power on its own, without the need for an external ammunition supply. Refining on the initial design, I feel as if I am close to perfecting it.

The weapon in question is designed to be lightweight, handheld, and very user-friendly. I had planned on carrying it around myself instead of integrating it with Smash Man's adaptable Brawler Body framework. Though his Mirage Chaser could use some work, the Brawler Body's ability to freely re-allocate skeletal weight has proven more than useful in the Float Body, Stone Body, and Break-Point Punch. I've been thinking of giving him a new ultimate attack which he could swap between as an alternative to the Smash Chasm Blast. If I've somehow found the only other roboticist in the world who's a diehard for fighting games, think of it like Street Fighter IV's Ultra Combo. You can choose between two of them before a match starts, right? Smash Man's other critical would probably be an extension of the Mirage Chaser, similar to how Smash Chasm Blast overloads the Smash Buster to insane levels. I'm getting dreadfully off-topic, aren't I? I just bothered to read what I was writing and I sort of jumped the horse, so to speak.

As I mentioned in my previous entry, the weapon's design is based on a remarkable aquatic lifeform that is rarely ever found near the lab, or the armed fortress I'm now residing in due to our current... situation. The species in question is known as Remoraid. Part of a class of extroadinary organisms collectively referred to as Pocket Monsters, a wild Remoraid has the power to shoot a wide array of beam-like projectiles from its contoured, revolver-like body. Over its lifespan, Remoraid gains access to quite the slew of techniques, covering an impressive range of shot types and elements. After gaining enough experience in battle, it can transform into the octopus-like Octillery who boasts even more offensive force; however, further research concludes that Remoraid's small size and fast movement speed was better suited for my purposes.

Oh, Smash Man's here. Good, good, he's retrieved Meteor Man as I requested. I will resume writing at a later point, I don't want to hurt the poor robot with what I'm doing. Who knows how he'll react if he learns I've been building weapons for use outside of Robot Master tournaments...

Day 4 ~ Breakthrough

I feel as if I'm making progress at an abnormally rapid pace. This has done nothing but drive my morale skyward, and I feel that at my current rate I will have the prototype ready within a week.

The original plan was to obtain a Remoraid, then train it to become an unstoppable force; however, there are a few... complications. For one, the only member of our team with a valid Pokémon Trainer's License is Miss Nakano, meaning that she's the only one of us who can catch wild Pokémon, though I can still use a Pokémon of my own. This means that I'd need to send her to a possibly dangerous and far-away location, as the local area hasn't reported ANY sightings of wild Pokémon for a sizable amount of time, let alone sightings of Remoraid.

The alternative would be to purchase one from another Trainer, which is an obstacle in and of itself. Remoraid must be an elusive little bugger, since the average prices hover somewhere around "holy shit guys it's just a fish". In addition, a common practice of early evolution seems to be prevalent, as the strongest Remoraid for a resonably fair price weighs in at an underwhelming Level 18. This means I would have to deal with training a Pokémon of foreign origin, which could prove to be difficult if it chooses not to accept me as its master.

After thinking about the issues at hand, the obvious solution was to instead create a robotic Remoraid... or, more accurately, a Remoraid-like hand gun. With the answer at hand, I frantically scrawled out notes for this "fish gun". This is when I started my science log. Studying its learnset over, Remoraid naturally has the ability to learn a move that can defeat every incarnation of the electric element I can possibly think of, and Pokémon moves tend to be simplistic in nature. Replicating Remoraid's attacks in a weaponized form was hypothesized to be an easy task, and as of now I'm nearing completion of the first wave of energy cartridges.

The poor girl won't know what hit her.

Day 6 ~ Second Stage

With the first group of energy cartridges complete, I've moved on to construction of the gun itself. I have now dubbed it The Holy Attackerel - Level 42 Robotic Fish Substitute. The name's a bit of a misnomer, as Remoraid seems to be related to archerfish, not mackerel. Sometimes, though, you have to sacrifice accuracy for being awesome.

The finished Attackerel design will hold up to three element charges in its "barrel", in the form of the energy cartridges previously mentioned. Additional cartridges are stored inside of the Attackerel's main unit and can be freely interchanged with loaded cartridges. An early design allowed for using every possible charge at any time, though for ease of use I find that cycling through three user-designated charges would work much better in the heat of battle.

Ammunition is supplied through a battery core located near the trigger, and easily fuels any of the gun's various charges. A second battery core, separated from the main energy supply, can be used to fuel super-charged sniper shots. Utilizing technology adapted from Dust Man's Hyper Vacuum along with the archived data retrieval of the Grab Buster "copy weapon", I have created a method of restoring energy by pegging opponents with your shots. The energy taken through this method can be used to fuel the second battery core, enabling repeated use of Sniper Mode. Just to be safe, I'm taking extra precautions with my findings. Attempting to analyze the Attackerel will prove to be fruitless, as the finished device will only contain closed-source ACS programming. At least, it will remain closed-source until I am certain that the Attackerel will not fall into enemy hands.
