Personally, I like the idea of junk shield, but I think that maybe it is a little overpowered (not just for dueling, but in general).

The shield lets you use it twice in total, and it absorbs damage as you get hit. You can then switch to other weapons that you might be using.

I would suggest five changes:

1) Make it such that when you use the shield, it uses all the weapon energy, not just half.
2) Make it such that it cannot be recharged with weapon capsules (like time stopper); if you want more weapon energy, go get the weapon again.
3) When you do acquire time stopper, it disappears for a period of time; I would suggest this principle be applied to Junk Shield, too.
4) Make it such that when the shield is active, you cannot run; this would implement a tradeoff of maneuverability for defense. After all, junk is heavy, isn't it?
5) I dunno what attack power Junk Shield has, but I would consider buffing its attack to give players more incentive to use it for attack instead of defense.

I know a few people who think that Junk Shield is so overpowered that it should be removed from duels; I personally think that if you were to implement these five changes, Cutty, that you would have a good balance between the boundaries of somewhat-useful-tool/weapon and so-overpowered-that-everyone-wants-one positions.

About your ideas...

1: No... That way it can not be used ever for a descent attack.
2: See my previous point.
3: I like this idea... Otherwise people will just be hogging the junk shield if its in a easy to reach spot. So either that or place it in more tricky spots like junkman's stage itself.
4: I dislike this. Then not using it would be more effective since that wil allow you to dodge.
5: YES!!! :D I'd love to see the junk shield be put to offensive use besides defensive!

I havent had much playing oppertunities (blame the godamn lack of European servers like always :P), but yeah its quite powerup. It makes weak weapons almost useless and doubles the chance of loss in a one-on-one. I can understand people wanted different shields, not to mention, there's so many!

Though once Junk shield is on a map, its a must-have for those seeking victory, and possibily if given in LMS, oh boy... Its a little strong alright, maybe one-use indeed. Though i havent seen strong weapons vs the Junk Shield yet. Meh, perhaps to observe more or by the chance of winning the lottery/getting struck by lightning, actually find a PLAYABLE server to see how this Junk Shield works out further! (Dont count on that happening anytime soon...)

Nice.
So, when someone gets it, no one ever gets Junk Shield to compete and that person wins the match.
It's the same thing as health and tanks. You can camp them just to not let your opponent use them.

I say just take it out of duel.

As it is, it's great for deathmatch. Not so much in duel.

Burst Man's Stage makes it practically guaranteed someone will have both Junk Shield and Hard Knuckle within seconds of a match starting. If they don't accidentally throw themselves into a pit with the recoil you're in for one hell of a fight.

This would be an acceptable compromise.

Maybe Junk Shield is overpowered in DM, and maybe it isn't.
However, it is very broken for a 1 on 1 duel.
This is because the other player must destroy two junk shields, or even more if the other player has W tanks or collects a lot of weapon energy.
Against an opponent of comperable skill, this is the duel:
1.) Find Junk Shield.
2.) Win.

The problem I see with Junk Shield is that its just armor for ya to use along with other offensive weapons. If Junk Shield worked my way, then its only good for defense like Leaf Shield. Though both shields play their roles a bit differently.

1) Yes.
2) Then it's just going to be completely useless once you use it once. Maybe this could work if the weapon broke after your ammo ran out or you threw the junk.
3) Possibly. May be a bit much in conjunction with the rest.
4) Good idea. Certainly makes things more interesting - do you throw the shield at your opponent and maneuver around their danmaku, or do you accept the movement penalty and let the junk take the damage?
5) Right now Junk Shield spawns 6 projectiles. 3 are cosmetic and 3 deal 20 damage each. Not sure what the cosmetic ones are doing there, as the damage dealing ones are visible.

I'd say 2 of 1), 3), and 4) would be enough to balance it.
