As some of you are aware, this version of skulltag seems to randomly crash now and again for some folks. I reported the bug to Torr Samaho of the ST dev team and he has this to say:

The crash seems to happen inside the GL renderer, I can't see what's causing it though. Without more information there is not really anything I can do about it. Did the older Skulltag version crash less often with the same version of your mod or did you update your mod and the Skulltag version at the same time?


So to try and fix it I'm going to need some help. Mainly with this stuff:

  • Do you crash using the software renderer? If so UPLOAD A CRASH LOG
  • Do you crash using the OLDER version of Skulltag, but with MM8BDM v2c? (To test this, download v2b and drag replace all the v2c files EXCEPT MM8BDM.exe and run the launcher as normal) If so UPLOAD A CRASH LOG
  • Do you crash offline?


If you are crashing heavily, you can apply to be a test subject here and I'll try to catch you on skype and try some things on you.

I've only crashed once and that was using the Software renderer- I'll test the other two, though

EDIT: Well I tried loading V2C into .98d (V2B's) Skulltag, And I get a fatal error saying

Code:
Execution could not continue.

Script error, "skulltag.pk3:actors/actor.txt" line 20:
"designatedteam" is an unknown actor property


Before loading up.

If it makes a difference, I noticed people with worse computers crashing more often, in terms of RAM, processor speed, ETC. I think someone also said that the crash stated it was "unable to allocate 400 million bytes of data", but don't quote me on that

Before the v2c update, I had a recent crashing issue, but it turned out that it was Quickman in the Classes mod that was the culprit. I have not experienced any crashing bugs yet after the update and I'm using OpenGL, but I only really play offline with bots.

Did you use ALL of the skulltag files from v2b? That sounds like it's using skulltag.pk3 or skulltag_data.pk3 from v2c and there's some stuff in there the old skulltag.exe doesn't know about.

Edit: Put some instructions in the first post in how to do it correctly in case anyone is unsure. When you've done it correctly the console should say v0.98d-alpha (2.3.1-1551) 2999 at the bottom right, and you should have the features of v2c (i.e the new Junk Shield)

Edit2: Btw if you do manage to get it to crash with the new skulltag and v2b MM8BDM, please post a crash dump!

Is that crash log from v2c's skulltag and mm8bdm then? What were you doing when it happened?

V2C's MM8BDM and Skulltag, dueling on MM3DW1

Got the FrankenVersion running with V2B's everything but launcher and version (98d skulltag with new junk shield confirmed)

No crashes yet so I'll go back to plain V2C and let someone else man up and try it
