Rejected / Regarding the music in MM7DW1
« on: August 01, 2016, 09:11:36 PM »
The new expansion brought so much quality content and music, but I believe that the new music for MM7DW1 isn't as quality as the rest of the new MM7 tracks that were made to replace the Rockman 7 FC versions. No disrespect to whoever made it, but the leads are far too loud, and the percussion is completely inaccurate to the original and sounds sloppy and heavy. It lacks a lot of the subtlety that the original track had, and I don't think it's up to snuff like the rest of the new MM7 tunes.

I've made my own take on the tune in Famitracker that I believe is more faithful and accurate to the original tune as well having better volume mixing. It is my hope that it could be considered to be included in a future MM8BDM release. I know that's probably easier said than done, and this sounds like such a silly request, but Mega Man 7 has some of my favorite music in the series, and I want all the songs to be represented in the best way possible. The current track doesn't embody the quality that this game presents, and it can be improved on.

Here's the WAV of it. I can also loop it and convert to .ogg if necessary.

:: [TSPG] Painkiller :: Possession is back fools

49.79.134.90:10670

With the advent of v5, I'm back to possession hosting shenanigans. I've really optimized this time though. I hand picked every map in the rotation so every map is a suitable map for the mode. The new MM7TUR in particular is fantastic for this mode. Come on down any day and come play the most underrated mode in the vanilla game (Terminator doesn't count).

I wanna give a shout out to whoever made the new Turbo Man stage, because you inadvertently created one of the best maps to play Possession on in the vanilla game lol.

This update reminded me of a lot of things. It reminded me that Mega Man 9 is a sick ass game that I should play again. But it also reminded me why I love this game, and why I've stuck with this community for close to 6 years now. There are so few games out there right now that get by entirely on hard work from truly hardcore fans, and most that try fizzle out before long. Seriously, we're 6 years into this and we're still getting insanely high-quality updates that add truckloads of content and changes. I'm so proud of what the team has accomplished, and the fact that there's still a community here to appreciate it is astonishing. Here's to many more years and updates for MM8BDM.

Glad to see the MM7 music was changed from the Rockman 7 FC versions. I do think the actual volume of the music on Wily 1 and 2 is too loud and could be turned down a bit.

This expansion is out a day before my birthday. Thanks for the early present.  :D

This question may have been answered, but are there any plans to change the music of MM7DW1, MM7DW2, MM7BOSS, MM7OBOS, and MM7END from the Rockman 7 FC versions to be more in line with the sound of the rest of the MM7 stages? The contrast between the sounds is noticeable, and it would be nice to have the whole soundtrack be consistent.

Help & Editing / Resources for learning how to code for MM8BDM?
« on: July 09, 2016, 04:56:03 AM »
So here's the deal: I've always wanted to make something for this game. I've been playing since v1a, and in that time I've tried my hand at spriting, mapmaking, music packs, etc. to no avail. As you probably know, the livelihood of this game is the loads of creative mods that the community has to offer. I've always had a desire to contribute but there's one teensy problem: I have zero coding experience. Zilch. Nada. I don't know the first thing about it.

So with that being said, I want to learn, but I have zero clue where to start. I am looking to learn to code SPECIFICALLY FOR MM8BDM stuff. If anyone could just point me to someplace to start, I would be very happy. I understand that learning to code isn't something you can learn in a day or a week or a month, but I'll hunker down and do it. All I need is somewhere to start because honestly I am clueless.

Thanks for the feedback Musashi. Would you mind explaining what you disagree with? Something I've been trying to get better at is using the different instrument timbres in an interesting manner.

This may be a necropost, but I think it is warranted because I released some new stuff. I edited the top post if you wanna check it out.

Thanks Threxx, that's the kind of criticism I was looking for.

When you say modules, do you mean like using vrc6? I will be looking into that to make more complex music (in fact my next project will use vrc6 but I'll mainly be using it for the extra pulse channels since 2A03 won't cut it). I'm not entirely sure how to use pulse width or sawtooth so if you have any advice for that I'd appreciate it.

I don't plan on exporting to NSF, I'm doing this mostly for fun, but I am aware of how tempo and speed values can cause errors on the NES hardware. I haven't got around to working with Fxx but I believe I'll need to use it for my next work.

Once you give the song a listen, I'd love to hear what you think. Your works are very good.

So recently got my hands on famitracker and decided I'd post my first completed project, a demake of the classic tune about getting frustrated at Megaman, Airman Ga Taosenai (I Can't Defeat Airman).

Here's some new stuff as well:

Long Distance Runaround by Yes
(click to show/hide)

Battle Mode Theme from Super Mario Kart
(click to show/hide)

Another Year by Animals as Leaders

If you're at all versed in famitracker and have any constructive criticism or know any useful techniques, I'd really like to hear it because I really want to improve the quality of these things

You can also listen to my stuff on soundcloud winkwink nudgenudge https://soundcloud.com/lamminunes

Anything Goes / Re: The UNOFFICAL Weird Dreams Thread.

I had a dream where I ventured into an Egyptian pyramid, and subsequently fucked something up, unleashing a horrible plague upon the world. Thankfully, I had an army of pokemom at my side, and I used their flying and surfing powers to get to some location that would stop the plague.

1. I suppose so, just wanted to give some overall info on the map and project.

2. It is pretty bland right now and kind of small. I'm gonna be adding a lot more like different areas and make the whole thing look nicer. I'm a huge noob at this so I'm still learning stuff.

3. The thing is though that, from my experience, possession is great fun (if you set the playerlimit to about 5) but most of the mm8bm maps are very ill-suited for the mode. I want to make a map pack with maps that are balanced for the mode and don't ruin the fun with gimmicks and size issues.

So here are some screenshots from a map I'm working on for a project I hope to start soon. I've never made a map before, so pardon my shit texture work. I'm going to add a lot more later like more area and weapons and such, this is just a very early WIP.
