Either you're giving out the internal ip when you're supposed to be giving out the external ip.
Also it sounds as if you need to forward ports. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=751 (http://cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=751)
Your next step is to open the port for your INTERNAL IP. This is where things can get a bit grey. As most routers differ I can only give you hints to find what you need. Some routers just flat out say "Port Forwarding", while others label them as "Services" or some other weird name. When you've found it, it will usually ask you for your IP address and the port you want to open. The default port for Skulltag servers is 10666 but it can be anything (as long as that anything is the same port you host your sever with). Some routers will have multiple places to put this.
Start posting the URL to the actual image please.I am.
I start the server, the server does not appear on the list.Sometimes when you are successfully hosting, you (just you) can't see the server. Try accessing it from a different computer.
Hello there. Sorry if this thread is dead or whatnot, but I've followed every single step of this thread, but my router will not let my use my Internal IP address for port forwarding.
I've followed each and every step exactly to the point, and I also looked up specific guides for the router, but nothing has worked.

That is what my router list displays. 192.168.1.1 is my Default Gateway/Internal IP, as evidenced here:

but whenever I try to click "Save Settings" it tells me I have an invalid IP address. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
And your saying it has to be you internal Ip (Default Gateway... Idk how to post the image... T.T but its 192.168.1.1 While Ip is 192.168.1.8) And when I try to use The Internal if its the same as default gateway it doesnt help... it says invalid..... Am I doing it wrong... I added the regular Ip adress(click to show/hide)
And it worked for me for making the connection and (it didnt show up) I tried changing the protocols but still didnt work
It goes like this(click to show/hide)
I use NetGear as a router... so.. does that mean im doomed...?
You know what? I give up... Theres no point to hosting servers anymore in my opinion.. And I have windows 7 1. The ms paint it has sucks. 2. I have laptop therefore have printer.. so now im unable to continueYou don't need a printer >.<
Welp ok.. (Sorry for upsetting fic)
Here ya go only have 1(click to show/hide)
I set up port forwarding and everything earlier in the week when I started playing again, and everything worked fine (the tutorial helped a lot, for the record).Your IP probably changed (The 192.168.1.# one)
However, as of today, hosting no longer works. No settings have been changed (although by now I have completely removed and re-downloaded the game to be safe, set everything back up the way it was, etc.) but suddenly the server doesn't show up in Doomseeker. I can connect manually myself, but other computers get a cannot find server error. Is there any idea what is causing this issue?
Been hosting a Team DM Classes server all week that people have seemed to be enjoying, so I'd hate to not be able to do it anymore.
Update: Nevermind, it spontaneously works again today! -_-
Check if your IP inside the router is always 10.0.0.2It should at least work for now, it wouldn't mess up until it changed. Did you also add the exception to the windows firewall?

Other than that, it looks good. Also, what os/skin is that?
Your server might be up, just not on your list, can you try hosting now?Quote from: "ficarra1002"Quote from: "Asd967"Check if your IP inside the router is always 10.0.0.2It should at least work for now, it wouldn't mess up until it changed. Did you also add the exception to the windows firewall?

tried thet first one a long time ago, then i asked my mom, who i think pays the internet bills, but she didnt know.
That would work, but my parents don't want me to risk it for some reason. :geek:You wouldn't really lose anything, all you have to really do is reconfigure the wifi password.
I don't know what happened. Ever since I changed my masterserver address on doomseeker I'm not able to see my server anymore. :(I'm having the same problem, but what is the ini file?
Any ideas?
3. My server does not appear AT ALL on the master server list. Not even <NO RESPONSE>. I can't find my IP on the master server list.
Make sure that 'sv_enforcemasterbanlist' is set to 'true'. Just type 'sv_enforcemasterbanlist 1' into the server window.
4. How can I check if people on the Internet can see my server?
There is a very simple way to do this. Just type 'sv_showlauncherqueries 1' into the server window, hit ENTER and wait a while. After a very short time (usually less than 10 seconds) you should get messages like this one:
Code:
[time_here] Launcher challenge from: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:53920
[time_here] Launcher challenge from: YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY:43543
(and so on...)
NOTE: To turn this off, just simply set the value to zero.
If you get these messages then everything is fine. If you don't it means that your server is not visible from the Internet.

will hosting a server present a security threat?
Quote from: "Gumballtoid"will hosting a server present a security threat?
Hosting is a major security threat. If someone sends an attack (typically loads of malware/spyware), whether targeted or automated, at whatever port you have open, your computer will accept it. "Zombie computers" and hackers send these attacks out: if they hit a port you're hosting with, you're screwed.
real men have all their ports open :cool:And your PC being part of a bot network who are the responsible of making DDoS?? Bad idea... :ugeek:
You probably had the wrong username/password for your router. Try either Googling the default Admin login for your router model, and if that doesn't work, ask whoever sets up the computers in your house. They should know :cool:or you could look the router itself it might have it on it
W_GetNumForName: PLAYPAL not found!and I'm not sure how to acsess port forwarding on TrendNet.
are there specific numbers for the other ports? No, you can use whatever you want, all ports work for the same thing as long as you set up your server to use that instead.
I have a TrendNet Router, and I'm not sure where to go on it to do Port Forwarding. can somebody give me a little help here? I'm trying to host a server, but it gives me an error message when I try to make it:You have to set up the server correctly like Megaman94 did in the image above so it doesn't displays that error, it seems you did something wrong, like not pointing out to the files needed or your load order is wrong.QuoteW_GetNumForName: PLAYPAL not found!and I'm not sure how to acsess port forwarding on TrendNet.
