Prop Hunter Joe Skin
« on: July 27, 2014, 08:12:50 PM »
Hey guys, its been a while since I made a skin, but here is a new one I made. It is basically a Sniper Joe that looks like a Prop Hunter from GMod Prophunt (and/or the Elite Combine Soldier from Half-Life 2). I found it awesome to actually make this skin. I only have one screenshot of it, and here it is (screenshot was taken in mirror room of Dr. Light's Lab):

Notes:
*If you want to make a MM8BDM Prophunt mod and need a Hunter skin, you can use this, no credit needed.
*The reason I did this is because like the Elite Combine Soldier, the Sniper Joe has one eye.
*If you enjoy this skin, please send me feedback.

Is this just a simple recolor?

Yeah but MM8BDM skins traditionally use cyan/blue coloring for the sprites so you can see weapon transitions. If your skin doesn't follow that then people probably won't want to download it.

It also means there's no difference between it and the original skin aside from inconvenient coloring.

Well, he could technically color the shoulder pads and eye blue, and the belt buckle cyan, and it might be be good enough. You could also try and make the skin look a bit more different, design-wise. Not sure what the "prop hunter" looks like, though. And incorporate some more ways to add in more blue and cyan through design details.

Nah, I'm sticking with it looking like a Sniper Joe.

The reason I wanted it to look like a Sniper Joe is because using a Sniper Joe skin would be perfect for making an Elite Combine Soldier skin.

Well an issue with that falls under, your "Elite Combine Soldier" for prophunt will be using a specific weapon for the mod I presume, in which that weapon's colors would be the colors you want, thus it would be unneeded to make a recolored skin unless you were swapping where the color change takes place, in which you would just need to make the blue/cyan corrispond to where you want the colors to show up when the weapon is selected, which will make your skin still usable as a regular skin in all other game modes, since you have no blue/cyan it will not show any weapons or even team colors.
Secondly, I'ma warn you about the likely incoming warning about double posting, and multiple skin threads.

@fortegigasgospel Dude, there is blue and cyan on the shoulder pads. The white is for the armor.

What he meant to say was, it isn't enough blue and cyan to be considered a significant amount. What you've recolored is barely anything.

Nine added pixels and different colors on an already existing skin a new skin does not make. Anybody could do this, it isn't creative by any means, nor is it original.

What I was saying is that you didn't need to add the white, as if this was for a prophunter mod, it would likely be using a custom weapon, which you could have GIVE it the white where you wanted it.

Ok, I'm redoing the skin and making it look like the actual Elite Combine Soldier.
