Wow, you say it does 126 damage as a maximum full HIT? I cant see how that is fair in any way.
It's fair because the chance of doing 126 damage when all the pellets hit is about 1 in 2000. Of course if some pellets miss, the chance of doing 126 damage is 0.

@ Blox, sorry I didn't know you were jk. Those trails look really sexy, though it'll be annoying to have your shots blocked by decorations.

Definitely not that high. A shotgun in an enemy's face will always hit with every pellet.

Making the decorations destructible might be the way to go.

The chance of maximum damage depends on how the damage is handled.

If it's damage*random(1,3) for each individual pellet, it might be about 1 out of 21
Otherwise, if it's the result of damage*random(1,3) that applies for every pellet. It can happen 1 out of 3 times.
But as we know, random numbers tend to hit themselves multiple times in a row.

I'm sure it's damage*random(1,3) applied to every pellet individually, so if all 7 pellets hit, then the chance of doing maximum damage (assuming a good random algorithm) is 1/(3^7) = 1/2187. The other way wouldn't make any sense.

Random numbers tend to hit multiple times in a row? I don't think so, as even the most basic algorithms can avoid this. If you're referring to the LMS random quirk, I think that's probably because the game is seeding at a really stupid time.

Ummmm... aren't we off topic here? I think this isn't riotgun talk.. This topic should include things that aren't only : humans need to get nerfed/buffed

@ Blox: I didn't see any of that, sorry.

@ Qent: I like the idea that A TREE THING can block bullets instead of going through them because they are hitscan =/

@ BloodRaven: Nothing wrong with some discussion while some of us were bitching about Gvh related material.

Bullets go through trees pretty easily IRL, if realism is what you're getting at there.

Okay maybe not shotgun pellets.

That depends on the thickness of the tree and round you are using. If it is some generic tree with a hundred years behind it and a good diameter then I don't see a measly 9mm going too deep into it. Now if it was 5.7 rounds, which I doubt the marine uses, or .45 ACPs, then probably. Let's not forget that tech beams is a thing as well, and I can't imagine constant layering a metal being punctured by riotgun pellets.. or .45ACP unless it is the thinest aluminum on the planet, then a jitter should rip through it easily (or imp fireballs, for God's sake).

I know rounds above 5.56 can eat through metal and all, but the marine isn't packing rifles besides is machinegun with unspecific rounds.. but it's justified I guess, since it is the, "smart gun," from Aliens. The pistols look a bit compact so I can bullshit and say they are Springfields, even though they're pretty fat looking.

Also, realize would attribute to the accuracy and velocity of hitscan weapons.. :X Which would effect their overall usefulness, and that definitely applies to the riotgun being a sniper weapon.

I know that this bitch is rather an old one, but I'll say it anyway... Mainly because this is the only place I can post it without either derailing or necro posting.

Why would Santa always be saying "Ho!" in everything? Also, the variety in the voice wasn't enough in my opinion. Other than that, I actually liked Santa... Ah well. No biggie.

Damn, bad timing I guess. Try a search for Dexter's lab santa, you'll see what I mean.
