Ghoul 4 review
« on: July 19, 2011, 02:51:08 AM »
This Is a review about the ghouls forest 4 by doomkiller

ok so bacicly someone made a ghoul 4 thats fanmade and bacicly i have some things to say

How it looks- 2/5
Ok if your going to copy and paste trees around the forest
DONT GIVE US BULLSHIT BOX TREES i mean cutmanmike gave detail to his trees like roots and stuff but doomkiller just makes a box and puts another box ontop of it and COPY AND PASTE THIS ABOMANATION AROUND THE MAP and thats the whole map

Gameplay- 3/5

I acualy kinda liked a few things like the fire arrows and being able to get dual shottiees but some of the ghouls are kinda a no brainer like billy mays but its pretty decent

Sound:

Music from original ghoul 3 and some loz music

Overal: 3/5 i acualy find it ok but it needs a make over

just make diffrent trees that arent boxes and give some new music and also add some new textures

Well thats all

Yeah the C&P trees are annoying. And they're box-shaped lol. I like that GF4 because I extracted the ghouls from that wad :p I mean only the sprites and sounds. I did the entire coding in my classes. But I wouldn't call it a Ghoul Forest 4 because it doesn't seem like one. Billy Mays shouldn't be there... Why is he there...? And the mother of Ghouls... (?)

But I really enjoyed many times playing it and it's still fun to play in multiplayer. Just think about many players getting lost, they can't find each others, and the Ghoul is chasing only one of them, who is lost too, trying to run away from it D: Or think about you being very far from the middle of the map searching for souls and other players are getting raped in there xD

I would give it 4/5, just because of the number of ghouls and because it's funny to play (not scary). I don't care about the trees so much. I always prefer the gameplay but of course, nice graphics would make things better. Also make 5 or 6 different trees to make them be like a gather spot (idk something important).

Damn the Ghouls section is dead >_< We must spam topics and replies to make someone have a look at it (DON'T DO IT). But it's good to see we are keeping this a little more alive.

Ghoul 4 has bugged me with the trees but hey! its a new ghoul forest with awesome ghouls and I really dislike the fact that yurei dose not teleport. It makes it too easy.

Hmmm... nice topic. The ghoul section needs more posts like this one to stay alive. Keep the good work!

Yeah, the map dissapointed me too, not only because the huge, geometric C&P trees, but also because the ugly, rotating, pixelized sky, the lack of interesting places (like the grave and the swamp) and the large empty spaces left between each tree. In the original GF3, trees were a commom obstacle when dodging ghouls, but not here. The map was giant, not a problem at all, it was really nice when we got lost and helpless. Also, there was 20 souls lurking around the forest, and if you collected all, they unlocked the good ending and some secret ghouls.

Doomkiller stole the ghouls from the other wads, and made nasty experiments with them (and at the same time ruining them IMO). He made Soul Harvester, a bastard sjas-clone version of Slaughtereur (my favorite ghoul from IcyTux Addon  ), an GODLIKE Yurei that moves at the speed of light, an suicide Jugulum that spam fireballs like theres no tomorrow and never stops bleeding, a Creeper with balls that causes horrible headaches but was no stun effects after all (not only that, but also a flying, charging version of him, Ravager), an Choke that randomly stops and spits blood "balls" (more like vomit), an Eyesore that creates entire baby armies when hit, Clowny and Misty (also from IcyTux Addon) on steroids, Billy Mays ghost (ok, a joke ghoul, but also a sjas-clone...) and... TADDAH! the mother of all ghouls... an flying bone dragon with the bestiary diabloist fire attack... (now THATS a joke). Not only that, but the ghouls had a LOT more health (it was really boring to kill them), and came always in the SAME ORDER (not like in GF3, where it was a surprise which ghoul was the next). Good old Sjas and Uncle Jitty were left without any changes.

The dual shotties were fine, low damage but good for hunting the souls, but the fire arrow? Useless! Taked forever to shoot, and was not so powerfull. The music was the same from GF3, but it changed when the mother of all ghouls was on the map (i really liked her music) and during the ending sequence.

Of course, its not so good like GhoulsWorld and IcyTux Addon, but, it still being ghouls forest.
