A few questions.
« on: March 15, 2011, 01:24:23 AM »
Hey everyone! I have been playing MM8BDM for some time now, and I have finally decided to join the Cutstuff Community. I would like to ask a few questions regarding the game, in hopes that some answers will come in.

1) How exactly do you bind keys to send certain chat messages? And when I say exactly, I mean that I need to know the exact format and spacing so that you can bind one key to say some message or word or whatever on the chat.

2) Are infected weapons allowed or is their use punishable on Deathwind's servers?

3) When ever I attempt to start a server with the Classes mod, this error appears on the Skulltag start-up:

Script error, "Classes-v3a.pk3:wep/megaman3/snakemanwep.txt" line 57:
Parent type 'SearchSnakeStart' not found in SearchSnakeStart2

Execution could not continue.

Script error, "Classes-v3a.pk3:wep/megaman3/snakemanwep.txt" line 57:
Replaced type 'SearchSnakeStart' not found in SearchSnakeStart2

I feel like i have seen this somewhere on the forums before, but I cannot remember where, so I'll have to ask again. Does anyone know the problem, and how to fix it?

4) I have to ask: Do only skins go in the skin folder?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Well, for 1, you can input:
bind (letter) "(what you want it to do)"
For messaging, I imagine you would put:
bind (letter) "say (message)"
I'm not enitrely sure about the say part, but the bind part I know for certan.

Correct!  "Say" is the proper code used in the console for implying chat.

For Question 4,, not necessarily.  Note two things:
1:  If there is a bot file combined with your skin, you must add the file directly to use the bot.
2:  Music packs can be placed inside Skins to have them automatically upload.

Thanks! That worked. It was: Bind X "Say [Message]" (without the brackets of course).

Anyone else have any input on the other questions?

EDIT: Thanks Chaos for the confirmation and your helpful info about the skins folder. I guess that makes sense.

Hello.

1) In the console, type Bind (key) "(command)"

(Key) would be the key on your keyboard that you want to bind the command to. (Command) would be the command you want the key to take. Here is an example.

Code: [Select]
Bind H "changemus cutmus"This would make the H key play Cutman's theme.

EDIT: But someonebody already answered this question.

2) You should ask this in the rule topic. Infected Weapon is fine as long as its not constantly abused.

3) I have no idea.

I had a similar error once before, are you starting straight from skulltag or do you use the mm8bdm launcher?

if you don't use the mm8bdm launcher it is possible the files are loading in the incorrect order. I had it happen once when playing Wolfenstien SoD.

Thanks Kapus, for the input as well as letting me know how to change songs.

Arkman, I am starting it with Doomseeker. I add all the wads that I want, the PK3s, set the rules, whatever. If I start the server as an offline server, Skulltag pops up like normal, but before MM8BDM comes up, that error appears as the last lines of Skulltag console. If I start the server as an online one, Doomseeker begins to go through its normal process for doing so, but then a pop-up... pops up announces a fatal error with Skulltag, and this pop-up contains the same lines that the Skulltag console displays.

The reason you get the server error thing is because as was said, the wads are in the wrong order.

MM8BDM-V1C.pk3 NEEDS to be first on the list of wads to be loaded. Then any map packs. Then the classes.

Exactly what it says. Yellow Devil's new to DECORATE and should take him a minute to fix.

Usually that only happens to me when something goes wrong with MM8BDM-V1C.pk3 because SearchSnakeStart is in there.
Just closing the error and rerunning Skulltag fixes it, the same thing happens with Elec and Spark sometimes
