Title: [TUTORIAL] Adding music to your map(s).
Post by: TERRORsphere on February 11, 2011, 05:57:04 AM
To add music and name your map, you'll need to define a MAPINFO (http://zdoom.org/wiki/MAPINFO) lump.

Adding music to your maps using Windows Explorer (zip/pk3's only)
The first thing you need to do is open up Notepad and paste this template in.
(click to show/hide)

Now save it as "MAPINFO.txt". Now drag it into your .zip. If it is a .pk3 file then just rename it to become a .zip.

The inside of your zip should look like this

Now just make the .zip a .pk3 by renaming it and you're done.

Adding music to your maps using Slumped
New Lump.
Name it "MAPINFO"
Use the template that you can find in the previous tutorial.
Save changes and you're done.

Each map has it's own mapinfo inside the wad, each mapinfo would link to the specific song you intended to use.

There is no difference to what DTD posted. You just do it for each map.

Doesn't the music have to be a specific format? You can't just go and throw any .mp3 in, can you?

As in it wont work, or I'll anger people with a large download?
(Sorry for a late reply)

Large download.

Some of these aren't supported in Skulltag yet. NSF's for example don't work yet.

I'm still really confused. Can't you do a step by step?

And there's more you havent told us. For instance, how would we make the music work using the MAPINFO text? Do I find a file and put it into the Music folder, then say the name in MAPINFO? And how would we make the Map work in the Maps folder? So confusing!!!

This is one of the most simple things you can do. Please, don't make us shove the info down your throat.

Assuming you mean next in the mapinfo, then you just next it back to the first map in the mappack.
