So, I've been digging around the site a bit since I'm thinking about working with Doom modding (although I'm on a Mac and it's been very slow going). However, being so new to this, the Mega Man mod blew me away.

I'm sure there are answers to these questions somewhere that I haven't been yet, but what allows you to integrate 3rd person and jumping into the game? Is it a custom mod that you've created or is it part of a dev package? If I remember correctly, the original Doom had neither of these.

If I'm just an idiot and missed a post/page about this, let me know and I'll read about it on my own. I just hadn't found one yet.

Thanks!

I'm glad my mod is attracting new doomers to the scene.  ;)

You might want to start here: http://zdoom.org/About

ZDoom (and it's child ports such as Skulltag, which this mod is being made for) are windows and linux based software. I don't think there's any mac support for them yet unfortunately. Should you get around that little hurdle, visit the zdoom.org forums for any modding questions you have, they'll sort you out in minutes.

To answer your questions, ZDoom is a port of Doom which adds all the cool new stuff like jumping, freelook, third person etc. It is customizable as heck and it allows mods like this one to be created. Check it out.

Last update of this year I promise. I got two pixel artists interested (one of them did the GVH portrait art) so we may have skins of all your favourite robot masters.

It's not going to be a class-based game like GvH. Instead, it'll be possible to look like one out of a set of robot masters.  Not sure which ones it's going to be, though I'm assuming the ones from the original Megaman are going to be in it (Cut, Elec, Ice, Fire, Bomb, Guts).
With that said, I'm not one of the people who has a huge archive of pictures to reply to everything with, so I need to wait for someone to say something which I do have a funny picture to respond to with.

You could make this into a co-op sort of thing, where players have to fight the robot masters to proceed.

Co-op sucks. Just play normal MegaMan if you want that.
