Anyway, talk about Splatoon, and what you like about it, what you are looking forward to, etc.

For me, it HAS to be the Inkbrush. like, HOLY COW!

God I'm so excited for this game
I can't wait to try it out today, even if it's pretty late and early morning Saturday for me
Can't make the last one due to work but that's no big deal (And i might be able to get out of it anyway)

This game is a helluva lot of fun. The testfire had four fixed loadouts to choose from--two shooters, a charger, and a roller, but I spent most of my time using the Splattershot and keeping the lowermost platform of Saltspray Rig held down. Once you do away with "intuitive motion controls" it handles like a dream and there are innumerable tactics to employ, such that each match felt completely unique.

I was able to catch the first two sessions but I'm gonna miss the third, unfortunately. If you missed the first two the last one is at 3 PM EST (12 PST) so be sure to treat yourself to this.

Now comes the most important question:
Team Cat or Team Dog?

I've read spawn camping is too real, and the rollers are as OP as people speculated them to be. Knowing Nintendo, they won't fix spawn camping but instead just "ban" it, thinking it's a moderation issue instead of a balance issue.

God this game is so fun. I am doing really good with the Splatter Jr. and Shield combo
Honestly the motion controls are good for precision, they just really really need to make it so you can use the left stick (y-axis and x-axis) AND motion in the main game
using the stick for swiftness is good, but motion controls help for precision
I can't wait for the full game

two sets of four bearded grizzly men (probably some women too) + coaches and whatever get together to play against eachother in a turf war. there is heavy amounts of planning and communication put into positioning, super jumps, inking routes 'n all that
the splatoon meta is that each team has 1 roller and 1 charger, the other 2 do whatever they feel fits the team and map best

na, eu, jp are the 3 places most involved in competitive splatoon

I love this game.

I'll be honest
I thought about spawn camping but just said screw it and played
The matches I was in didn't seem to have any spawn camping either so

So how about that minigame you can play in between rounds

I had an absolute blast during my playtime yesterday.  I didn't quite make the one this morning, but you can bet your acids I'll be showing up to the one in roughly three hours.  That said, I found myself running the Splattershot Jr. and the Roller more often than not.  A lot of people are giving the Roller more credit than it deserves-- it seems like many people forget that their control stick can be tilted in more directions than "Forward" when a Roller's approaching.  My only gripe with the weapon is how the ranged attack is also an OHKO; feels more like a two shot type deal to me, but even then, it still has pisspoor range and can easily be counterplayed.  I really can't wait for the full game to release, and we get all the sweet goodness that comes with more maps, customization and loading games.

Yeah, that one.  I'm glad they introduced something to pass the time during matchmaking, and I think the direct said there'll be more games to choose from when the game launches.  Cool stuff.

That was a blast, caught the first time and the third.

Like Brawlman said, I myself found gyro controls to be great for precision aiming. I used it in conjunction with the right stick.

Yup, just as I thought, the paint roller looks pretty overpowered. In a game that's mostly all about terrain control (quite literally), the paint roller greatly outplays every other individual weapon in this aspect. Not only that, but its attacks are basically one hit knockers, too. NOT ONLY THAT, but seeing how important zoning could be to the overall teamplay, the paint roller once again serves as the greatest support, possibly leading an entire team into the battle zone and keeping them on top ammo and health.

Seems to me that the paint roller should slow you down, and its melee attack consume more ink. It's a weapon more fitting for a tanky support role than anything else.

Gee, I wish the game had either a ranged weapon or a way to go on walls.

Wouldn't that just provide the perfect counterplay to a weapon.

Hell even add vertical elevation.

That alone would stop the roller's reign of terror.

I didn't say it doesn't have counters, because it does.

I did say that, in a game where terrain control is so pivotal, the roller outplays every other weapon from an individual standpoint, and since terrain control directly benefits other players, that plus the damage it can dish out, it's a pretty damn good support too.

So what you're saying is the roller is balanced because it can be taken down from higher ground, where its projectiles won't reach. Which is essentially the general idea of his counterplay: taking it down from afar.

Or what you're saying is the roller is balanced because it's very ineffective in maps with uneven terrain that needs to be jumped over, or maps with lots of high walls that the roller can't paint over so easily. So mapping better is the solution.
