Title: how do i not lose all of my save data when updating

i am an idiot that doesnt know how to do anything, could anyone please explain to me what do i have to do so i wont have to redo the entire campaign?

I've seen people ask the same question, you just got to copy your v5d save over to your v6 folder and let it overwrite it.
