In the dark of night, a shadow looms over the lonely village town. Its red eyes gleam as it peers over the hillside.

"Immense power, forged from the synergy between two trusted battle partners... once the very essence of this region, the source of its lifestyle... and now, the very thing threatening its existence. Pokémon and humans, tainted by a great excess of energy, now starting to resemble one another..."

The figure raises an arm in front of its face, turning its hand over. Wiggling its fingers.

"I've already been tainted," it sighs. "Corrupted, disfigured... bound to an inferior form."

The shadow drifts down the hill, wandering through the abandoned streets, peering through building windows with its bright glare.

"The others don't seem to mind nearly as much. Maybe this half-bastardized fusion is something they've craved all along. Or perhaps they fail to recognize the great energy they now emit because of their new forms..."

"It was simple, tricking them to accept me into their community..." The figure strolls away from the village, looking at its reflection in the lake nearby. "At least two of them already consider me their 'friend'. How ridiculous. The only way those imbeciles can consider us 'companions' is to help further my cause. Stopping this disease from spreading any further. And for that, this town... must be destroyed."

The shadow stops for a moment, looking up at the stars in the moonlit sky.

"Well, at least I've got that moronic shrine maiden at my fingertips. Thinking she can grant wishes... pathetic. Only power gets you what you want in this world. Not childlike fairy-tale foolishness."

"And soon..." the shadow smiles, retreating into the night. "I'll be able to get exactly what I want. Hmm hmm hmm..."
