Then I noticed it actually was real. The damn thing doesn't even flip close. Why?

Think of it as a bargain, also directed torwards the ages below 7 or so that shouldn't be using the 3D, or just people who don't care for 3D.

I still want a 3DS XL.

Then it occurred to me. This is being released the same time as Pokemon XY. A cheaper system that will be able to play Pokemon XY. Nintendo,I see what you did there.

Ivory: I noticed this shortly after making the topic too, I was wondering what the point was for a while. I'm pretty sure it's just for X and Y, as there's plenty of people who just want to play that game.

Excuse me? The 3D may not be that great, but the 3DS has been in no way a disappointment. It took sometime to start creating a sizable library, but hey, every console and handheld has been like that. Some started of a bit better than others but the 3DS has picked up steam and I would say will end up just as good.

The 2DS is pretty much a cheaper alternative, and if it wasn't for the lack of being hinges, I'd probably would of picked one up over a 3DS had I not already had a 3DS. I never bother with the 3D outside of "I wonder what this looks like in 3D". I prefer a longer battery charge over seeing things in 3D.

The 2DS is a prime example of one of Nintendo's best qualities: brand loyalty. You get people started on video games at a young age, and as those people age, sure their taste in video games will age, but they'll see a Mario game or a Zelda game or a Pokemon game and go "holy &&&& there's a new zelda game?? &&&& yes oh my god that's my childhood i'm getting that right now". Because of the 2DS' lack of 3D (which isn't recommended for anyone under the age of 7) and the increased durability due to the lack of a hinge (and the cheaper price, too), Nintendo is ensuring that they spread the seeds of Nintendo nostalgia as early as possible.

Nintendo doesn't need to sell more 3DS units. The 3DS has been doing real good so far...this is the Game Boy Micro of the DS lineup, except it's not so micro as much as it is macro.

It doesn't fold like usual, so I guess it's designed to "last". No 3D, so no danger of damaging kids' eyes. It's also DS-compatible, so that's a plus. A whole lot cheaper than the 3DS, 3DSXL AND price-cut Vita is also a very big plus, too. Seems exactly like what Fils-Aime says: meant for a "family of four, with two kids".

I personally don't like how it can't fold AND HOW IT FUCKING DOESNT HAVE FUCKING DUAL STICKS. But being very cheap is very attractive, and so is being DS-compatible.

The 3D effect isn't what makes the console. I hear you bash the 3DS all the freakin' time without even remotely good reasons. The last time I asked you to give me a valid reason as to why the 3DS is so bad, your response was


"It has no good games."


Which is the most BS reason to give for something like that. I don't like the Xbox 360 much, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "It has no good games." I enjoy a lot of 360 games.
