[Program] ZDoom Resource Randomizer (v1.2)
« on: February 22, 2015, 11:03:14 PM »
Download / Source Code

ZDoomResourceRandomizer is a program that allows you to randomize resources in MM8BDM / ZDoom mods. It scrambles up given TEXTURES, SNDINFO, ANIMDEFS, LANGUAGE files, and sprites and outputs them as a pk3 file.

You need Java 7 or later to run this program. You can use it as a command line utility or just launch it to get to the UI.

Looks like running a NES rom through a corrupter and then watching the fun happen.

Updated to version 1.1. You can now randomize sprites within pk3s.

This is very cool! It's like those guys who speedrun NES games and enter into hex values that are out of bounds! What great fun. Thanks for sharing

in windows, hit ctrl-r, then type "cmd"
then type cd followed by the directory you saved the jar to
finally, type the command mentioned on the opening post, with the name of the wad you want to randomize

this program requires java and exporting a wad file from the project you wanted

It says the file name or the extension is to long.

Isn't there a way to make this more simple?

It must have done a good job randomizing it.

I can't recognize any of the maps, besides Light Labs

Updated to version 1.2. Added a UI and updated the data for v5.

Also note that the randomization process can take a few minutes especially with lots of files or on lower end PCs. Please leave the app running if it has appeared to crash.
