Sorry I haven't been able to talk much round here these days, but my talking finally makes a comeback because I went on a Skype Trick-or-Treating spree for Halloween this year.

Just beat Undertale, with the true ending. Amazing game. I recommend playing it if you already haven't.

I've been feeling nostalgic recently. Yesterday marked the 5 years I've been playing this game, and what a 5 years it has been.

It all started from this trailer
(click to show/hide)

This was during the time where my interest in Megaman was at it's prime. I had played so many Megaman fan games at the time, but no game came close to how great this one was. The first chapter took me 5 hours to beat, but the gameplay had me hooked so I couldn't stop. After playing the game for about a month, I decided to tell my friend about the game. This friend would later be known in the community as King Dumb.

After some time, KD would tell me about Doomseeker and mods for the game that kept me playing a lot longer. I don't remember specifically when, but KD would later tell me of the Cutstuff forums and their Skype group. I never gave it too much thought at the time, because I thought having online friends was a little weird. I later warmed up to the idea and made a forum account and asked to be in their Skype group (I think the one Sick Sad World made). I found that it didn't help me too much with fitting in with the community because I wasn't very active on either one. I later got removed from the Skype chat group for being inactive, and that's where I went back to the usual in-game voice chat for communication. All of this changed when my very good friend Tengu wanted to add me to his chat.

Realizing my last mistake, I decided to be more active in his chat. I decided to join calls and talk to some people. The people I've talked the most to at the time were Tengu, Gumballtoid, and Lobsters. I felt as though they made my 8BDM experience so much better. Never had I felt so connected to people I had only known online. So many great memories were made in that chat. The Tengu chat today is very different than what it was when I first joined it. Although I can't say that I've enjoyed the chat as much today as I have back then, but everyone in the chat now does make my 8BDM experience way better. If it had not been for the Tengu chat, I would probably be a different person. I feel as though I have found myself within this community through that chat.

Never would I have ever imagined that I'd be still playing this game 5 years later when I was 15. The main reason I've stayed so long is because of this community. I have met so many great people through the Tengu chat and through 8BDM. I'd like to thank everyone who has made an impact on me in some way in this community, you guys are fucking awesome. I hope to still be playing this game with you guys in the future.

I don't even remember the exact date I started playing, but it couldn't have been much more than a few days before I joined here, so I'mma guess the 6th of December.

I would have let this completely pass over my head if you guys hadn't reminded me.

Thankfully, I have it easy as I was here in the GvH days, followed development since the alpha days and played day 1.

I honestly wasn't interested in that game until a few weeks ago. I thought it was some kind of Tumblr meme game. I mean... Why befriend your enemies when you can just punch their faces for standing in your way? Well, that would probably be interesting. I mean, I usually don't like hurting innocent people in videogames, and probably some of the enemies would not actually want to fight. Probably, killing or sparing someone would affect the plot in some way. Even better, not having to kill stuff all the time would make grinding unnecessary . But still... a turn based RPG? I'd bet it's just some boring RPG maker piece of junk. Even if it had an interesting plot, I would get bored quite fast.

Then I learned the game had an interesting battle system. When the enemies attack you, you can dodge their attacks. And many of them have shmup-like patterns. So now I saw it was an RPG with actual decision making and a battle system that might require actual skill other than "select this option to attack and pray to the almighty RNG lord"... And funny skeletons, according to all that fanart everywhere (Edit: and lots of dogs). So I decided to try the demo.

Yep, it was nice.

WARNING: Spoilers.
(click to show/hide)

Since I played the demo many times, I decided to buy the actual game. I intented to make decisions according to my own personality, Killing anyone I would see as a threat.

WARNING: More spoilers.

EDIT: I suck at double checking my grammar.
