Help & Editing / Duo Spritesheet
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:32:05 PM »
This is a random question, but is there a sheet of the Duo sprites used for the MM8 expansion of 8BDM? If so I would like them. I believe they were made by brotoad?

I'm actually almost certain I've asked this before, but eh.

General Gaming Discussion / Super Smash Bros Brawl Mods
« on: January 04, 2013, 08:11:41 AM »
NOTE:I am discussing the methods of modding Brawl that DON'T involve hacking your Wii. I have no idea if the rules permit us to discuss hacking your Wii or anything of the sort, though I don't see why they wouldn't. Clarification on that would be nice.

Anyway, for the longest time I wanted to mod Brawl, but couldn't because I didn't want to hack my Wii. Then came...

THIS HANDY-DANDY TUTORIAL on DeviantArt (which was unexpected).

As such, I've begun modding Brawl like no other. I was wondering if anyone else was a fan of playing modded Brawl?

If you've never modded Brawl, also, feel free to read that tutorial and ask me for help getting you started.

Most recently I got the Melee Mewtwo mod, a fantastic mod that ports Mewtwo pretty much straight over from Melee to be him in Brawl. Its really fantastic, especially considering I don't really care for Lucario.

So anyway, discuss. Though I'm betting not too many people here are into this.

Anything Goes / Are there any good, free video recording softwares?
« on: October 01, 2012, 09:37:40 PM »
Seriously. I need to know what I can use to record vids of me playing games on my PC. Specifically for mod recording purposes. Anyone know anything good?

Anything Goes / I missed you guys
« on: July 27, 2012, 04:53:27 AM »
Haven't played 8BDM in forever, nor have I posted here in ages. Haven't made a single skin in ages, either.

But that doesn't give me an excuse not to post here. I totally just remembered this place recently and I need to start posting here more.

I'd also like to get together and play some 8BDM with you guys sometime. Is roboenza still the in thing? Because that got old pretty quick.

If you'd like to know why my time has been consumed, this is just one example. Also this. /shamelesslyadvertising

Anyway, seriously, I'm back. I'm not going to neglect this forum anymore.

I'm also thinking about skinning again... Don't have the urge to do some of the really challenging ideas I had quite yet, though. Any suggestions? Remember I only like to skin stuff that is classic Megaman (canon or not, I guess).

I bet the community has totally changed and none of you know me now.

Mega Man Discussion / What are you guys using to make fangames?
« on: November 26, 2011, 07:25:44 PM »
I have a lot of experience with Game Maker but the only Megaman engine I've ever found was sub-par and not quite what I wanted. I see a lot of fangames around here and so I was wondering: what engines/programs/etc are you guys using? One of these days I want to get around to working on a MM fangame.

Help & Editing / New question!
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:54:59 PM »
I was going to put this in my other topic but I figure'd nobody would notice it there.
I'm looking for a way to add more frames to the SGC Demo as a test. I need to have more rotations (which I think I've accomplished). The hard part is, how could I add more pain frames? You see, I need it so that upon getting hurt, the player goes through a full animation rather than just a single sprite. Thanks in advance.

Help & Editing / A few questions
« on: September 16, 2011, 08:32:01 PM »
So, these aren't totally MM8BDM questions, but general Doom editing questions. Anywho, here's what I need help with...

I'm trying to learn how to make my own sector special effects. I noticed that some maps have effects that aren't in the predefined effects, so I'm trying to figure out how these effects were made. If I could at least find a way to edit effects, that'd solve my problem. I just don't know where to start.

My other questions is short: Is there anyway so that characters have to 'accelerate' to reach their max speed? In Doom, they start at their max speed, pretty much. I'd like it so that it takes a little bit to reach your max speed, ala Mario Kart.

General Gaming Discussion / SD Gundam Online (Its freeeee!)
« on: July 05, 2011, 01:46:53 AM »

This game is free. Yes free. If you like robots, blowing stuff up, or shooting of any sort, then you should play SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online. Even if you know nothing about Gundam. If you are a human-being, and you're computer can run something more than Minesweeper, you should at least try this game.

Unfortunately the game is centered in various parts of Asia, making it hard to set up, but thanks to cool people on the internet, you can follow simple-to-read guides to start playing easily! I did it, and if I could, so can you!

And why am I going through all this work to get you to play? Quite frankly, I love this game, and I want to see some new people on there!

If you're still reading this than you are at least partially interested! Yay!
Most computers can handle the game fine, but here are the System Requirements.
Minimum:
?CPU : Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.8 Ghz
?Memory : 512 MB
?Video Card : Geforce 4 ti4400 or Radeon 9600
?DirectX 9.0c
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recommended:
?CPU : Intel Pentium 4 - 2.8 Ghz
?Memory : 1GB
?Video Card : Geforce 7600 or ATI Radeon x1600
?DirectX 9.0c
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now then, still interested? Here's a guide on joining! Yay!
First, you will need to register. Here is the handy dandy registration guide:
Registration Guide
You'll notice we're going to the Taiwan version. The Korean version is the most up to date, but it is unfortunately illegal to play unless you are a legal citizen of Korea. So yeah. We'll stick with Taiwan.
There are a few things you will need to know on this guide:
1. In step 2, click the button on the right. That button will register you.
2. In step 4, right click each link and go to properties. If the URL has the word "Activate" in it, that's the right one.
3. STOP AT STEP SIX. The game has been updated since, so I will guide you from here.
Here is a link to the installer. Download it, run it, and I will guide you through the next step.
Download
4. Once it is installed, run the new .exe.
5. It will come up with a screen that looks like this. Click the big circular button, and a new window will appear. At the bottom is what looks like a loading bar and two yellow buttons. Press the RIGHT yellow button to begin patching.
6. Now for the long part. Patching overnight is the best way to go. Don't worry, its not super-huge, its just that you're downloading from Taiwan, so it will take some time. When the game is done patching, you can launch it any time by clicking the icon and hitting the same yellow button. The game will launch.
7. To log in, type your username and password and hit enter. Voila! You are in! Now for some more guides to help you.
Guide to navigating the menus
Wiki for looking at the different gundam. Is the most up-to-date, but not as detailed information-wise as the next one. Not all the gundam in this wiki are in the Taiwan version of the game, but most are.
Wiki for in-depth information. Very nice for information, but does not have all the gundam.

Questions? Need help with anything? Ask me. I've got it all down by now, if you need help, I can help. If you're interested, please post or try it, one of the two.

General Gaming Discussion / Spiiiiraaaall Kniiiiights
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:26:02 PM »
So Spiral Knights has become a Free to Play game on Steam. Is a good game. Has anyone else played it? IF YOU HAVE, LETS DISCUSS.

While I'm at it, I might as well beg ask you guys for help. Yasee, they've added an option to invite friends, and if you invite 5, you get a free mask. Well, most of my friends either already have it, won't bother playing, or will and haven't gotten around to it. So if you're thinking about playing it, perhaps you should add me and I'll invite you. It'll only work if you don't play except through the invite. So if you want to play, please add me before you begin...

No this topic was not just for getting help. Ppphhht. What're you talking about?

MM8BDM Discussion / So who would be interested
« on: May 31, 2011, 07:34:03 PM »
In playing some actual built-in, instead of those newfangled modes.
The only mode I'd ever host with that requires downloading would probably be Classes, to make things simple.
Here's the hook, though. You'd need Hamachi. But I'd be able to host pretty much all day everyday (though not at night). Not to mention, if everyone joined the network, there would pretty much always be available servers.

Hamachi ID: The MM8BDM Network
Hamachi Password: bluebomber
Server IP: 5.243.172.73

Second Network for those not in the first (anyone from either network can join the server):
Hamachi ID: MM8BDM Network 2
Hamachi Password: bluebomber
Server IP: same as above

I'm willing to listen to suggestions from people and whatnot for the server. I will host generally during the day. Anyone in the network can also host their own servers, which I will probably post on here for everyone to see. Hamachi also allows us all to chat to make things easier in playing and stuff. I'll pretty much host Vanilla DM all the time. Anyone who wants to join can. The server will be up from about 10-11 AM CST to about 10-11 PM CST. That's 12 hours of super-happy-fun-fun time.

I seriously decided to ask this because I'm way sick of all those other modes. I think there should be more DM, TDM, and maybe some CTF. I dunno if anyone's game for it, but if you are, post here. Oh, and, if you want Hamachi, you can get it here:
https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/

Alright guys, the server is working. Joining is pretty simple...
Open Hamachi. Select the network tab. Choose Join a Network. Type in the Network ID and Password. Next, open up the MM8BDM Launcher, choose connect, and type in the server IP to join. My server's IP is 5.243.172.73 . Anyone on the Network can also host.

The server will remain up until late at night, and will hopefully start early in the morning everyday. We will do some Vanilla DM and whatnot. Joining the Hamachi Network will make server hosting and joining super simple.

Skins & Bots etc / The Constellation Droids Skin Project.
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:06:00 PM »
So, I originally intended to do this all by myself. Yeah. Not happening. It would be hard enough to do eight robot masters, but there are even more Constellation Droids. Sooo... I'm gonna need some help!

And now I'll answer some questions that I was never asked!
Why only a skin pack?
Tell me, how much do you know about the Constellation Droids? They appeared in a game called Rockman Strategy in Korea. Thats about the only info on the net. There's no detailed pictures of their stages or anything. Plus, as a strategy game, the weapons were programmed much differently. So, there's your answer.

Can I help?
Yes. HOWEVER, if you do, I may make modifications to your sprites. Please don't mind.

Also, I will be putting the pack in my topic so people can find it.

Who can I make?
The taken characters are...
Fan - squidgy617 - Finished
Apollo - squidgy617 - taken
Cancer - squidgy617 - taken

You may take anyone else. Also, I've created one sprite for Luna. It will be challenging to make rotations for him, so if you want to make him, here you go...

Please use this sprite if you make him. Its as much detail as I could condense into a small enough space that it didn't take up the whole screen, so I'd like if this sprite was used.

So... who wantsa help!?

So I was just about to put a link+picture combo into my sig when... I saw that you couldn't do that. You can't even put links. Why is this? I would really like for people to actually be able to FIND my skin topic.

Anything Goes / I am one of the worst writers in history
« on: November 23, 2010, 12:51:30 AM »
Fortunately, I'm not a terrible storyteller.

I started writing this a year ago, and let me tell you, a year of writing goes a loooong way. My latest writings are far better and more descriptive, but the story's what counts.

Now, please don't read through the first 15 chapters and say the writing is terrible. Lemme tell you.... The story gets better, the writing gets better, the characters get better, it gets much much better.

Basically, this story is a complicated one. Its about a boy and his brother, from the Earth Realm, who are sent on a strange and startling journey when their grandfather visits them. This journey takes place throughout several Realms where they will have to fight the mysterious "Avenged", led by Archwing.

Some of the writing seems a little fakey (Their mother letting them go) but all errors in my writing skills are repaired later on.

I will update more soon, but I suppose none of you will read it anyway.

Ignore the terrible writing and enjoy the story itself!
