Title: [TUTORIAL] Finding MM8BDM servers (for now)
Post by: CutmanMike on July 12, 2010, 10:19:02 AM
Currently we have one actively played server hosted by Nam-Ereh-Won (http://cutstuff.net/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=338). Simply type the IP or hostname into the IP box. Alternatively you can browse for other active MM8BDM using a skulltag server browser such as http://Skulltag Server Browser (heh) or Doomseeker.

Known permanent servers

namerehwon.no-ip.info - As of now, this is using the Skulltag version packed with the demo

Finding servers in SSB

1) First download SSB here http://zalewa.dyndns.org/al/files/zalew ... SB0.56.zip (http://zalewa.dyndns.org/al/files/zalewa/cpp%20programs/SSB/SSB0.56.zip)
2) You should also have MM8BDM's launcher ready too (MM8BDM.exe)
3) Extract it into a directory and run it. You'll get a big window with an empty list.
4) Press the big blue button with the down arrow on it to get a list of all the servers.
5) Look for any servers with megagame.wad as the IWAD.
6) Type the IP Address (under the Address Column) into the MM8BDM launcher's connect box and hit connect.
7) Enjoy!

In the future I plan to have my own launcher bundled with MM8BDM for maximum ease. For now though, you'll have to use this slightly awkward method to find MM8BDM demo games. Hope it helps.

I just open up Doomseeker, copy the address and paste it into the MM8BDM launcher.

Says I'm banned from the master server, but I've never used this before.

Your ip was probably caught in a Skulltag ban list. You need to go here to get this sorted http://skulltag.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=22213 (http://skulltag.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=22213)

I downloaded the newest version but I still can't connect to the 24-hour server (It still says I don't have the newest version)

Are you sure that's what it says?  I can't connect because the 24-hour server is running on 98 alpha, not the latest version.

I get the error message
FAILED TO CONNECT
THIS SERVER IS USING : O.98C
Which I have. I'm redownloading, so hope it works.

No, it says 0.98c - Alpha.  I can't connect because I have the latest version which is just .98c.

Mine says "Failed to connect:  your version is different.  This server is using:  Skulltag v0.98c - alpha."

I managed to find a few servers via Internal Browser but they lagged out at only 5 people.

I've got one going in my own topic, but so far nobody's joined.  Brandon's server on the main page has updated to the latest version.

I noticed your one, but I just got connecting messages for a while. Nothing happened so I gave up. It's updated? I'll retry joining.

EDIT: Same error. Any solutions?

It doesn't show up in Doomseeker either. We must have different versions?

No, I'm entering my IP address and getting the same problem now.  I'll try to figure it out, because it worked yesterday.

EDIT:  Try 192.168.0.100:10666.  I think it'll work.

It didn't work. Something's wrong, because hosts I couldn't connect to via IP are easily acssessed via Internal Browser. :/

My internal browser either shows nothing or every server on skulltag that ISN'T Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch.

Wierd. I can just go into Doomseeker, look for a few servers and go onto Int. to access them. At least I'm getting somewhere.

It's a bit late for that, this situation is already resolved.
