MM8BDM Discussion / Please STOP radically re-designing all of your maps!
« on: October 19, 2020, 09:44:01 PM »
ok now, with just a few days before Version 6 comes out, I know it is exiting and all that, however there is one BIG issue I've been having with this game for years now, it is about dang time that we talk about this, and yes I regret not making this topic/post years ago, but better late than never I hope, so are you ready? ...

While I was learning how to be a game developer/designer over the years so I thought, when you design your maps, what you DON'T do with a game like this, is COMPLETELY re-design your maps the way so many countless mappers have been doing after "updates", BOTH for the core AND custom maps,
apparently those days are LONG gone, NOT TO ME, but apparently to so many of the mappers and dev's of/for this game today. At least that's the impression that I've been getting!

Maps that did it RIGHT (for the most part) since V2C: MM1GUT, MM1ELE, MM2CRA, MM2WOO, MM3SPA, MM3MAG, MM3HAR, MM4SKU, MM4DRI, MM4TOA, MM5GRA, MM5STO, MM5DAR.
Maps that did it WRONG (for the most part) since V2C: MM1DW2, MM2BUB, MM3SHA, MM4DIV, MM4BRI, MM4PHA, MM4RIN, MM5GYR, MM5CRY, MM5WAV, MM6CEN, MM6YAM, MM7FRE, MM7BUR, MM7CLO, MM7TUR.
Maps since V2C that I'm not sure about now: MM1CUT, MM1ICE, MM1BOM, MM1FIR, MM2HEA, MM2QUI, MM3GEM, MM7SPR.

( What you should also be doing, is find ways to add-in more unused textures from the original Mega Man games if there's any left. )
It's fine if you add-on some new part(s) to the map(s) and/or change not too many parts/things around, but NOT if you completely scrap the map(s) for no good reason at all!
Please STOP radically re-designing your maps the way you have been!  It is both so annoying and unnecessary!  To me for one, anyway...
Unless maybe if the map's quality is that of/near OZX when he first started 'mapping' for MM8BDM.

I can explain further if you really want me to, but there's only so much text I can type into here at a time, I just mainly wanted to finally get this topic started.
Please tell me I'm NOT the only one who has been bothered by this BIG issue of MM8BDM over these many years!

DECORATE and ACS Modifications / T's Inventions' Bot Apocalypse Fixes
« on: June 08, 2020, 06:46:02 AM »
Eventually, there comes a time in life when you've got to end up being like.......  SCREW IT!
After years of being absent from these forums and the online games, I've decided I just can't take it anymore.
And so, I HAVE RETURNED.

After having my name mentioned on the front blog/page years ago.  I've known I can't just keep this a secret project forever...
Many MM8BDM players who have been here in the community long enough will remember Classic Bot Apocalypse, first discovered/invented by SaviorSword years ago.
All these years, it has definitely been by far one of my favorite mods/modes for MM8BDM, if not my top one.
And while Messatsu and SickSadWorld DID try to turn it into a fully functional WAD/Mod' that could be added to the game.
I just never really liked the direction that their versions were going in.  And so now I give you my version of Bot Apocalypse!

This is an attempt to continue the development of the Bot Apocalypse WAD while Messatsu and SickSadWorld does not seem to be working on it much at all.
With my version, I'm attempting to add some good stuff that Mess' and Sick' never tried doing, and hopefully this will be a good improvement from their versions, no joke!
For now, I'm starting more simple and focusing mainly on fixing the biggest problems that the classic (WADless) Bot Apocalypse had.

Here are the current working features:
* The bots switch weapons in a new way.
* Players gets 8-second invincibility at the start of rounds.
* Players gets the same random assist item(s) at the start of rounds.
* More weapons appear - ones that does not normally appear in (T)LMS.
* Plays win and lose music at the end of a map.
* Keeps players and bots on the right teams when they enter the game.
* Keeps crouching turned on for players to use.
* Prevents the bots from picking up weapons and items.
* Spawns some small health capsules throughout the map for the players to pickup.

Future features that I do want to add soon/eventually in later version(s):
* The automatic-bot-adding and * the bot-leader stuff.
Now, before I get to adding these features, there are some new ideas I have/want planed for them that to me is CRUCIAL to get working.  (I didn't name myself T's INVENTIONS for nothing!)
(click to show/hide)

Now at this point, I'm VERY sorry for not releasing this MUCH sooner years ago...
Also I know I'm not the best and most advanced Doom/ACS coder, but please expect me to know what I'm doing.
I will explain more further details soon enough.  All feedback and support is appreciated etc.

I want to know if CutStuff out-right HATES Google Photos for hosting avatars and/or other images, or if there's something else I'm missing?
I would prefer if I don't have to make much more accounts on other sites just to do something simple like this...
Anyway, can anyone else view the image in one of these links and help me set it as my new avatar here on CutStuff?

Help & Editing / What's the best file uploading website?
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:33:45 PM »
This is something that I've been wondering for quite a while now,
What's the best site to use for uploading MM8BDM wads/pk3s/zips?

I know that everyone here seems to like MediaFire mostly, however I'm not so sure about it.
For a while now I've been thinking about making a GameFront account but before I do, I want to know what do you guys think?

Cutstuff Discussion and Feedback / Posts On Page Limit?
« on: October 08, 2012, 01:41:32 AM »
Just wondering why for a topic here on CutStuff there is a limit of 10 posts for one page.
This has been bothering me for a long time. Is there any way you can change/increase the limit
of posts on one page? This would really make reading through topics a lot easier.

Events / [MM8BDM] Remembering the SGC Demo!
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:00:33 PM »
Remembering the S.G.C. Demo

Wow... It's hard to believe... It has been not only almost 2 years sense MM8BDM-V1A first came out...
But almost 3 years sense the MM8BDM alpha first came out!
I don't know about you guys, but to me this is somewhat a big thing...
So I feel the need to set at least SOMETHING for the 2nd anniversary of the MM8BDM full release!

I have the perfect plan, on October 8th this year, lets all play the MM8BDM SGC Demo in sever(s)!
This will be just like a time capsule event, to give the veterans a blast of nostalgia,
and to show the newcomers what the game was like waayy back in the day.
On the day, I am going to be hosting my server with it, and I guess if anyone else also wants to host, they can.

For everyone who does not have the SGC demo, here is a link to download it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?384q2cd85492h00   Thanks to Super Bondman 64 for the better link!
http://zut.doesntexist.org/wadhost_files/MM8BDM-SGC8.zip
This may not be a very good link, cause it's from the old WadHost archive which apparently has very low bandwidth,
however it's the only link that I know of so far. If anyone knows of a better link/mirror, please let me know!

Now, this day is still a good time away, about 30 days from now at the time of this writing. For the heck of it,
I decided to plan this ahead of time cause they say it's better to do that then blow it off until the last minute right?

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the up coming event.

Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to ask, who wishes for a sequel to Super Mario 64?
By a sequel, I mean the same game engine, but with entirely new levels.
I think what I have here, has to be a complete dream come true, probably, especially
for bigger fans of Super Mario 64. Something I know more people need to know about.
What I have here, has to be the #1 hack/mod of Super Mario 64 that I've ever seen.

Take a look.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM is becoming boring?

Quote from: "Kapus"
This pretty much sums it up.

The only things I'm getting tired of are duel, anything with classes and rage roboenza. I mean, I like rage roboenza, but nobody ever plays normal roboenza anymore.
I agree.

The real thing I have been craving these days is a good game of DM.
I can handle that. Maybe I should open my classic DM server more often...

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: i feel VERY dizzy after playing Megaman 8-bit
« on: April 18, 2011, 06:04:36 PM »
I wish I could use OpenGL. Everything looks so much better, but too bad teh lag iz horrible.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 graphics card, is that too old of a card,
or are there some settings I need to change that is not said on the SkullTag wiki,
or something else? Can an expert on graphics cards let me know?
